Chapter 787 You're Not Generous at All

Alexander noticed that Victoria suddenly seemed a bit timid, her voice noticeably softer.

Victoria lowered her eyes, but she was still very stubborn.

Alexander felt a bit helpless and was about to reach out to hold her when her phone suddenly rang.

Victoria answered the call, her voice sounding a bit aggrieved, "Grandma."

"Victoria, why aren't you back yet? We're waiting for you to come back for dinner. It doesn't matter if the food is good or not; it's all about the lively atmosphere."

Eloise was talking on the phone about things that seemed important but weren't really.

They were standing a bit far from the streetlights, so it was hard to see anything clearly, including their figures. However, Alexander's hand was indeed holding her wrist the whole time.

Yeah, at some point, his hand had gotten very close to hers.

"Grandma, I..."

"We'll be back soon."

Her phone was snatched away, and Alexander hung up after speaking, then looked straight at her.

Victoria slowly lowered her head.

Although it was hard to see clearly, she felt a sudden warmth in her hand.

How could he still hold her hand?

"Alexander, you..."

"You're still my wife."

Alexander suddenly didn't want to make any excuses.

She was his wife was all that mattered.

He directly held Victoria's hand and walked towards the car.

Victoria didn't want to walk, so Alexander stopped and turned around, "What's wrong? Do you want me to carry you these few steps?"

"Aren't you always respectful to the elderly? Just do it for the sake of them."

Alexander started the car again but still glanced at her, reminding her, "Seatbelt."

Victoria numbly fastened her seatbelt and said nothing more.

"If you don't go back, my grandma's blood pressure will spike. It's never good to get sick during such a wonderful holiday. Besides, you just hate me, right? After dinner, I'll take Strawberry to bed."

He spoke while driving.

But why was he the one taking Strawberry to bed?

Alexander glanced at her and saw her eyes were still red. He suddenly asked, "Why are you crying again?"

"What?"

Victoria looked at him, not hearing clearly.

"Don't you want to separate from me? Why did you cry after I let you out of the car?"

This time, Victoria heard him.

He probably didn't understand the feeling of being alone and adrift.

It's like being in a big city, full of lights and excitement, where you can stay dry and warm, and your phone is full of money, but it still feels like you have nothing.

She didn't come to this city alone, and she once had a home here, but in an instant, it was all gone.

"Snow got in my eyes, that's all."

After a while, Victoria mumbled this sentence.

She lowered her head, squeezing her fingers hard, her heart already feeling like it was being roasted by fire.

Alexander glanced at her again, knowing her excuse didn't hold up.

The wind had stopped by now.

The snowflakes would melt as soon as they touched her captivating eyelashes.

Alexander suddenly remembered the night Victoria first came to Ankenra City. She saw him while swinging and shyly smiled at him.

That was their first meeting since they parted ways as children.

She had already forgotten him, but she didn't seem cold.

Why was it always her who didn't want him?

Sometimes Alexander wanted to be the one to leave next time.

To leave in a way that she could never find him again, making her miss him, feel sad, and be confused and torn.

The car finally arrived at Metro House.

Before he even stopped the car, the housemaid had already gone inside to report joyfully, "Mrs. Arabella Harrington, Mr. Alexander Harrington and Mrs. Victoria Harrington are back."

"Are you sure? It's both of them?"

Arabella immediately asked excitedly.

"Yeah, both of them."

A maid stood at the door, relaying the message inside.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and smiled contentedly upon hearing this.

Finally, they were all back.

On such a day, no one would be happy if Victoria spent it alone outside.

Especially since it was Strawberry's first New Year, how could her mother not be by her side?

"Mr. Alexander Harrington, Mrs. Victoria Harrington, good evening."

Alexander responded, deliberately walking ahead.

But soon he stopped, as if just remembering Victoria, "If you can't walk, I can help."

Victoria glanced at him and immediately picked up her speed.

Did he think everyone could walk as fast as him just because he had long legs?

"Victoria, you're finally back. Strawberry has been hungry for a while."

Arabella came forward holding Strawberry.

As expected, seeing Strawberry made Victoria immediately soften and walk much faster.

"Mom, sorry to keep you waiting so long. Give Strawberry to me; I'll feed her first."

"Alright."

Arabella agreed and handed Strawberry to Victoria, whispering, "Be careful with your back. I heard you hurt it again while carrying Alexander. You mustn't neglect yourself to take care of him in the future."

"Mom."

Victoria's face instantly flushed, and she called out nervously.

Some things shouldn't be said casually.

Otherwise, Alexander might think she still cared about him.

Alexander listened from behind, seeing Victoria so nervous, he immediately approached her from behind, touching Strawberry's hair and asking, "What did she do to take care of me?"

"You don't know anything? I heard from Barbara at your Serenade Villa..."

"Mom!"

"Of course, he should know. Otherwise, he might think you don't care about him. I want to see if he still dares to bully you. When he fainted, you were so scared you almost carried him to the hospital yourself."

Arabella said.

"Mrs. Arabella Harrington, could you come and check if the ham is cooked properly?"

A maid from the kitchen came out to call her.

"Coming."

Arabella, looking busy, went into the kitchen.

Alexander stared intently at Victoria. As she tried to leave, he easily grabbed her shoulder from behind and asked, "So you carried me?"

"I didn't."

"Looks like I'll have to check the surveillance footage to get you to admit it. Fine, I'll check."

"I just have one question: why did you carry me?"

"I... Grandma, you're out."

Victoria held her breath and suddenly said.

Alexander followed her gaze, and Victoria took the opportunity to walk away with Strawberry.

His hand was empty, but his heart felt fuller.

But he did want to check the surveillance footage to see what happened.

He couldn't imagine that she still cared about him that much.

When Victoria went to feed Strawberry, Alexander didn't follow. Arabella saw Alexander wandering around the kitchen and couldn't help but mutter, "Did you two argue on the way again?"

Alexander raised his eyes, puzzled by how she knew so much.

Eloise, standing nearby, snorted, "You're five years older than Victoria, yet you bicker over everything. You don't have an ounce of a man's generosity."

Alexander felt like the two most important women in his life were teaming up to humiliate him today.

"We've been helping you keep her around all day. It's New Year's Eve, and you won't even let us say a few fair words from a woman's perspective?"

Arabella saw through his thoughts and continued.
