Chapter 775 Asked About the Truth of the Divorce
"What?" Victoria was puzzled.
"Come with me, you can't go out like this." Alexander was dead serious. He grabbed Victoria's hand and pulled her inside.
As he yanked her around, she felt a sharp pain in her waist and almost tripped. By the time she got her bearings, she was already in his arms.
"Alexander, I... I'm supposed to go shopping with Grandma. It's not cool if I'm late." Victoria was too tired to argue. She assumed he wouldn't mess with her if she was going to spend time with Eloise.
"I forgot to tell you, you're not going shopping today."
"What?"
"Mom will fill you in later," He replied as he carried her to the bathroom, grabbed a towel to cushion the sink, and set her down on it.
Victoria was confused, watching him grab some makeup remover. She couldn't help but ask, "What are you doing?"
"Your lipstick is too thick."
Victoria was exasperated. What was his deal? He had bitten her lips, and she had to apply thick lipstick to cover it up. It would be embarrassing to be with the elders otherwise, wouldn't it?
But he seemed so serious as he wet a tissue and came over to her. His movements were quick and efficient, as if he'd done this a million times before.
As Alexander's tall figure approached, she looked up at him, and suddenly remembered him gently removing her makeup while she sat on the sink.
Back then, he didn't quite get it, and she taught him coyly. She was really spoiled then, deliberately making things difficult for him, but he was always patient.
When she snapped back to reality, Alexander had already placed a tissue on her lips. One tissue, then another, and another. He was so serious, wiping her lips clean.
Victoria just stared up at him blankly, only feeling her chin being pinched after a long while.
In a particularly intimate position, Alexander's deep eyes locked on hers, making it hard to tell what he was thinking.
Suddenly, he lowered his head and kissed her.
Her heart pounded violently. She remained dazed, the sweetness of his kiss lingering in her mouth.
Then, Victoria came to her senses and tried to push him away, but her hands were quickly restrained. He released her lips, pressed his forehead against hers, and murmured, "You don't want me to kiss you, do you?"
Before she could make a sound, he kissed her again, this time more passionately, holding her face gently.
"Mr. Harrington, Mrs. Harrington."
Victoria immediately calmed down, her pink cheeks turning a bit pale. Whose voice was it? Mason?
Alexander also stopped, holding her in his arms as he looked towards the door. "What is it?"
"Mr. Bryant is here with a gift. He's already downstairs."
"Tell him to leave," Alexander replied, clearly annoyed, knowing exactly what he wanted.
He then looked down at Victoria's face, his heart softening.
Victoria's heartbeat remained violent, not slowing down for a long time, so she let him hold her silently.
"They're urging you to go down," Mason repeated.
Alexander was even more annoyed, couldn't help but look down at Victoria in his arms, and murmured, "Would you go down with me? The chicken soup should be ready."
"Yes, Mrs. Harrington's soup is also ready," Mason said calmly from outside.
Victoria instinctively turned to look at the door. Could he hear so clearly through a door? Then all the intimate moments had shared in here...
Her face turned beet red at the thought.
Alexander noticed her expression and finally had a hint of a smile in his eyes. "I forgot to close the door when I came back earlier. Usually, if the door is closed, they wouldn't dare to come in and disturb us. No one heard."
His voice was light, but Victoria still looked up at him dumbly. She was afraid that Mason had already heard what he just said. Sure enough, Mason suddenly fell silent, pretending he hadn't.
Later, when they went downstairs, they heard Jerome's voice as soon as they got out of the elevator.
"Thanks to Mr. Harrington's kindness, Bryant Group secured this big order. I had to come personally to express my gratitude," Jerome said.
When Alexander and Victoria came out, he deliberately held her hand and smiled. "Watch your step, or should I carry you over?"
Victoria looked at him puzzled, but he smiled flamboyantly. "What's wrong? Weren't you saying everything hurt this morning? I'm just showing my concern."
Victoria really wanted to tell him to shut up. She didn't know why he was suddenly being so obsequious.
"Mr. Alexander Harrington, Mrs. Victoria Harrington, Mr. Bryant is already in the living room," Mason reminded from the side.
"Mr. Bryant is here? Why did he come personally?" Alexander acted as if he had just found out, then held Victoria's hand and walked out.
Victoria struggled a few times but couldn't break free. When they reached the living room, she immediately calmed down, letting him hold her hand and act.
"Looks like I'm interrupting you two," Mr. Bryant said with a smile when he saw them.
"Just a bit, but it's okay. We can be together every day recently, right?" Alexander pulled her to sit beside him.
Not wanting to deal with Jerome, Brett and Eloise excused themselves and went back to their room. Now, only Maximus and Arabella remained on the sofa, along with the couple.
Arabella couldn't help but look at Alexander, thinking he was quite pretentious.
"We have guests, can't you two stop being so affectionate? Aren't you a bit old to be holding hands like that in front of everyone?" Arabella said teasingly.
But Alexander pulled Victoria's hand onto his leg, holding it tightly. "I'm just holding my wife's hand."
Victoria couldn't help but look at him when she heard the word "wife." Why did she suddenly have that feeling again? Could it be that they really... She stared at Alexander, her heart growing more uneasy.
"They're young, just let them be, I already feel very sorry for interrupting," Jerome said.
"By the way, my friend's son has returned to the country recently. He wants me to introduce him to someone in the city. Ms. Bryant doesn't have a partner, does she?" Arabella suddenly said.
Jerome was taken aback but nodded. "Yes, that's right."
"I've observed her paying a lot of attention to my son. But he's already married, it's really inappropriate. Why not introduce her to my friend's son instead?" Arabella suggested seriously.
"That sounds good. A young man recommended by Mrs. Arabella Harrington must be excellent," Jerome agreed, though still a bit surprised.
Jerome took a quick glance at Alexander, seeing him concentrating on the hands he was playing with, his heart sank.
Although he didn't want Daisy to be in a love triangle, he thought that if Alexander really got divorced, it would be okay for Daisy to pursue him a bit. But now it seemed...
"There's a rumor that Mr. Alexander Harrington and Ms. Kensington have already divorced. But I haven't seen Mr. Alexander Harrington clarify it. May I ask why?" Jerome cautiously probed.
