Chapter 872 Will It Work If I Stake My Life on It?

"Victoria, come here."

"Baby, come into my arms."

Victoria thought she must have reached heaven.

She finally saw her parents.

Soon, the ICU became chaotic again. Staff members rushed out of the elevator towards them. Seeing the crowd at the door, they shouted, "Move aside, everyone, move aside!"

"What happened to her?"

Alexander grabbed the woman in the sterile gown, his eyes dark and menacing.

"What are you doing? Let go."

"Alex."

Arabella sensed something was wrong and quickly reminded him.

"Is something wrong with Victoria?"

"Who are you talking about?"

"Tell Victoria if she dares to die..."

All the threats he usually uttered so easily, at this moment, he couldn't bring himself to say anything at all.

Alexander couldn't see anything clearly and weakly let go of his hand.

"Everyone, don't stand at the door. It's useless. We have medical staff taking care of her inside. If anything happens, we'll notify you. Please disperse."

The staff member finished speaking and went inside.

From a distance, Eve saw people seemingly shocking Victoria with a defibrillator. Terrified, she grabbed Frank's arm, covered her mouth, and tears streamed down her face.

The scene was too horrifying.

It was a completely different feeling from what they had seen in movies. Suddenly, everything around seemed dark, except for the flashes of the defibrillator and the words they couldn't understand.

But the door quickly closed.

"Oh my God."

Arabella was also terrified and sat down weakly in a nearby seat.

Later, Maximus arrived but could only stand outside helplessly.

After thinking for a moment, Maximus decided, "Let's take Strawberry home. We can bring her back when Victoria wakes up."

But when they got home, Brett and Eloise were waiting for them in the living room.

"There's a strong smell of medicine. Where have you been?"

Eloise sat upright and questioned.

"Speak up, where have you been?"

Brett asked when he saw them remain silent.

"Mom and Dad, we..."

"The hospital."

Arabella thought it was better to tell the truth since they couldn't hide it.

But this time, Maximus didn't let Arabella take the lead. He held Arabella's hand and said first.

Arabella was very grateful that Maximus was always willing to stand in front of her. Thinking about Alexander, she felt a bit disheartened.

Alexander got her personality, which always said such unpleasant things.

According to Eve, Victoria vomited blood and passed out shortly after Alexander entered the ward.

It was obvious that Alexander had tried to provoke her again.

Just like he wanted to say outside the ICU.

He wasn't unafraid; he was more worried about Victoria than anyone else.

But his words always caused trouble.

Victoria was simply afraid of him.

If it were someone else, they would have hated him by now.

Brett and Eloise had already heard a bit. Diana was deliberately avoiding them. They couldn't reach Victoria or Alexander by phone, so Eloise, with her high blood pressure, called a friend at the hospital.

Shortly after the call, Arabella and Maximus returned, so they wanted to get to the bottom of it.

"So how is Victoria now?"

"She's in the ICU but out of danger. She needs to be observed for two more days." Maximus said.

"Really?"

Eloise had always trusted Maximus, but this time, she was anxious.

Eloise looked at Arabella, who rarely nodded so obediently.

"Get the car ready. We need to see Victoria ourselves."

Eloise raised her head, barely holding back her tears.

Eloise felt that Victoria was not out of danger.

Otherwise, why did Arabella look like that?

Victoria had suffered too much since coming to their home.

When Brett and Eloise arrived at the hospital, they didn't go to the ICU but to the director's office to ask about the situation.

They had both been in the ICU before and knew they wouldn't be able to see Victoria, so they needed to understand the situation first.

Alexander was called in shortly after.

The director and several key doctors left, leaving the three of them in the room.

Eloise had never been so serious in front of Alexander. This time, she didn't even look at him and said earnestly, "Brett and I have always protected you, but starting today, we won't."

Alexander stood silently by the side.

He had no right to speak in front of his elders.

"When Victoria wakes up, you two will get a divorce."

After speaking, she looked up, but Alexander remained unmoved.

Eloise noticed that Alexander didn't look well, probably from not sleeping for too long, but she didn't have time to feel sorry for him because Victoria was lying in the ICU.

"Victoria's parents came to my birthday party and had an accident. Otherwise, their family might be living happily abroad. Alex, I want to care for you, but I can't. If something happens to Victoria in our home, how can Brett and I bear the guilt of causing the death of her entire family?"

Eloise said tearfully and earnestly.

Brett took a deep breath, his sharp eyes fixed on Alexander.

"She won't die." Alexander finally spoke.

Only then did they both seriously look at Alexander. Brett, with his unyielding voice, asked, "How can you guarantee that?"

"I'll stake my life on it, okay?"

Alexander finally looked up, staring stubbornly at Brett.

Brett fell silent, and Eloise wiped her tears. A chill swept through the large office, making the atmosphere feel frigid in an instant.

After Alexander left, Eloise couldn't help but mutter, "He's using his life to threaten us."

Brett noticed that.

No one could change Alexander's stubbornness.

"Why did it come to this?"

Eloise muttered, feeling a sharp pang in her heart.

At first, Eloise thought the worst outcome would be Alexander having no feelings for Victoria, and they would get a divorce.

She never expected Victoria to suffer so much, repeatedly fighting for her life.

But could Victoria survive this time?

Eloise's worst nightmare was the thought that Victoria had no will to live.

Did Victoria call out for her parents?

Did Victoria want to reunite with her parents?

What about Strawberry?

Would Strawberry lose her mother at such a young age?

When Strawberry grew up, she would surely be very sad.

"I want them to get a divorce."

"Do you think Alexander would listen to us?"

Brett held Eloise's hand, gently reminding her, not wanting her to get too emotional.

"Victoria is too pitiful. We brought her into our home to enjoy life, but look at her now, with all her physical and emotional scars. She... you heard the director say she called out for her parents several times. What does that mean? It means she wants to be with them."

"She's been wronged in our home and wants to find her parents."
