Chapter 909 Fine, I'm a Jerk. Happy now?
"You keep pestering Alexander, and I need to give you a few warnings."
"You might be misreading the situation, but I'd appreciate the warning."
Daisy was sure that marrying Alexander wouldn’t mean sharing a roof with Arabella. The thought of that mother-in-law was simply too much to handle.
"If you keep pestering Alexander, You'll share Isabella's fate."
Arabella looked down on Daisy, every word sharp and piercing.
Daisy felt a sting in her nerves. She didn't understand why Arabella failed to see Daisy's value, despite how endearing she was.
At least she had her family business and a complete, complete family. As for Victoria? Just two tombstones remain.
"Alright, Mrs. Harrington, I remember your words. Can I leave now?"
Daisy looked at Arabella, feeling both wronged and annoyed.
Arabella glared at Daisy. How could she not know how much Daisy disliked her? All those emotions played out across Daisy's face.
"Listen up, everyone. If anyone lets this woman in again, you're out with her, never to be rehired." Arabella declared.
Olivia happened to come looking for Alexander to complain and saw the scene. She thought for a moment and then stepped forward, "Mrs. Harrington."
Arabella looked up at the sound and saw it was Olivia, then smiled, "Olivia, what brings you here?"
"I came to discuss some business with Alexander. Mrs. Harrington, are you here to see Alexander too? Let me accompany you upstairs."
"Alright."
Arabella agreed. Olivia reached out to support her as she stood up, but before walking away with Olivia, she reminded the people around, "Did you all hear what I just said?"
"Yes."
Everyone had long disliked Daisy, especially since she always dressed so provocatively and stood in front of their office building, casting a negative light on their reputation.
"Getting angry with someone like that lowers your status. Let's talk as we walk."
"What do you know?"
"You know what we do; we have a wealth of gossip that's bound to intrigue you."
Olivia replied as she walked with Arabella.
The two used Alexander's private elevator. Inside, Arabella glanced at Olivia's belly, "I heard you're pregnant again. That's wonderful news."
"It wasn't in my plans."
Olivia explained, but she lovingly touched her belly.
Arabella was, of course, envious, but she couldn't help it. She just quired, "Do you keep in touch with Victoria?"
"Yes."
"Then talk to her more. Tell her we're all hoping she'll come back. This home, this city, she can have it all, as long as she returns."
"I heard that on the plane that day, Alexander had people hold Victoria down, saying they could even harm her. I have a feeling that Victoria's return won't be easy."
Olivia mentioned this casually to Arabella but with her considerations.
"Alexander's stubborn nature is something he has inherited from me. If he were even a bit like Maximus, things wouldn't have gotten this bad with Victoria. But deep down, Victoria should know that Alexander still loves her."
"If Mr. Maximus Harrington took a knife for another woman, would you believe that the Mr. Maximus Harrington who always said he only loved you really loved you?"
Before the elevator opened, Arabella had no rebuttal.
"Mrs. Harrington, I always feel we should talk to Alexander."
"Of course, he needs to be talked to. That's why I'm here. We'll talk to him together."
Arabella didn't hold back.
"Alright."
Olivia immediately agreed excitedly.
This time, she was going to use borrowed authority.
Normally, she wouldn't dare to be so bold.
Alexander was surprised to see them come up together and asked, "How did you two come up together?"
Olivia, deliberately linking arms with Arabella in a very intimate manner, replied, "When I divorce Edward and you divorce Victoria, Mrs. Harrington plans to pair us up."
Alexander sighed helplessly, finished reading the document, signed it, and then looked at them, "Sure, you should be able to handle the position of the Harrington family matriarch."
"So, it's settled then?"
Arabella immediately responded to Alexander's words.
Both Alexander and Olivia were instantly displeased.
"You all are so sensitive; it's just a joke!"
Arabella said helplessly.
"Mrs. Harrington, it's not that I can't take a joke; it's that I love Edward too much." Olivia pouted.
"Edward's fortunate to have you in his life."
Arabella and Olivia sat down on the sofa.
Alexander also walked over to sit on the sofa.
The assistant quickly brought in coffee, and Arabella and Olivia both fell silent as they watched the girl.
After the girl left, Arabella picked up her coffee and remarked calmly, "This coffee, only Victoria makes it to my taste."
"Too bad she was driven away by Alexander and doesn't dare to come back."
Olivia deliberately glanced at Alexander as she spoke.
Alexander was already troubled by this matter, and hearing their deliberate sarcasm made him feel even worse.
"So when exactly are you planning to bring Victoria back? Victoria and Strawberry's birthdays are coming up, such a perfect excuse."
"Victoria doesn't plan to celebrate her birthday."
Olivia mentioned when she heard about the birthday.
Alexander and Arabella immediately looked at Olivia.
"Victoria said she'll send Strawberry back in a few days. Didn't you know?"
Olivia felt a bit terrified seeing them staring at her.
"What else did she say?"
Alexander immediately quired.
Seeing his sudden cold demeanor, Olivia mumbled, "She said Strawberry's birthday would be more lively here with the elders and you."
Olivia's voice grew smaller, but Alexander heard it. He leaned forward to pick up his coffee, tried to drink it but couldn't, and had to put it back, his expression worsening.
Arabella, seeing Alexander's restraint, couldn't help but feel sorry for him. She sighed and remarked, "Victoria is being unreasonable. What problem between a couple can't be solved? Why make it so serious?"
"She doesn't want to solve our problems." Alexander asserted.
"If she doesn't want to solve your problems, do you not want to solve them either? Do you think your attitude is right?"
Not only was Alexander surprised, but Olivia was also surprised to find that Arabella was scolding both sides.
"You're five years older than Victoria. When will you remember that? You keep forcing her to think like you. What has she been through, and what have you been through? Did you have the same childhood? She lost both parents at twenty, and you?"
Arabella was a bit angry, angry at herself for not loving Victoria as she should, and angry at Alexander for not cherishing Victoria.
She wasn't a contradiction; she was just disappointed in herself for not being able to favor Victoria.
These unexpressed feelings wouldn't surface if the family was doing well.
However, once a conflict emerged and Arabella had to pick a side, her frustration would boil over.
Because as a mother, she would always, without exception, stand by Alexander.
Olivia quietly recorded the conversation on her phone and sent it out.
Alexander glanced at Olivia's phone and then admitted in a deep voice, "Fine, I'm a jerk. Happy now?"
