Chapter 722 A thick layer of frost covered his entire body
"Grandma, how could you say that?" Victoria turned to Eloise, stunned for a moment before softly asking again.
"You know I've always felt guilty. It was my fault that you lost your parents and were beaten so badly. Victoria, if I can't ensure you live the rest of your life in comfort and health, I won't rest in peace."
Eloise started crying as she spoke.
Victoria was also terrified by what she heard.
"Grandma, I can't stay here any longer. As you said, I lost my parents here and almost lost my life several times. There are no good memories for me here. If I stay any longer, then..."
"But you are Strawberry's mother."
Victoria was patiently explaining to Eloise when Arabella suddenly interrupted.
Victoria turned to look at her and said with concern, "Of course, I'm Strawberry's mother. I want to take her with me."
"That's not possible. Our whole family can't accept this." Arabella let go of Victoria's hand and sternly refused, looking down.
Seeing Arabella's expression, Victoria immediately understood her intentions. She slowly withdrew her hand and then stood up as she said, "The Harrington Family won't lack children. As long as Alexander wants, he can have them anytime. But I can't. I only have Strawberry, and I only want Strawberry."
Victoria firmly expressed her opinion.
"Victoria, you two still love each other."
"We don't love each other. It's all an illusion. He loves Isabella. I'm just a passing fancy to him. Don't say he did it to keep me out of jail. I can feel that he doesn't love me." Victoria finished speaking and was about to leave.
"Victoria, don't go." Eloise clutched her chest in pain, murmuring.
Victoria stopped and turned to look at Eloise as she said, "Grandma, if you really feel guilty, give Strawberry back to me and let us leave. If you can't do that, I'll find another way."
Victoria finished speaking and turned to walk out.
At this time, the housemaids were already up shoveling snow. Seeing her walking out alone, one couldn't help but call out, "Good morning, Mrs. Victoria Harrington."
"I'm no longer Mrs. Harrington. We divorced a long time ago." Victoria stopped and said this very frankly and calmly. She smiled and then left.
Perhaps this was the last time she would see these people here.
"What should we do?" Eloise nervously looked outside, still clutching her chest.
"Alexander only told us to stop her, but didn't say why. What should we do?" Arabella also anxiously paced by the window.
"I'm definitely going to hell when I die. Victoria is so pitiful," Eloise said again.
She truly felt guilty and felt she had wronged Victoria, but what could she do?
Strawberry was their family's treasure, and Alexander was her most beloved grandson.
Alexander was holding Strawberry upstairs, watching Victoria's figure walking away.
Soon, the family car pulled up beside Victoria. She turned to look and then got in.
Felix greeted her, "Mrs. Harrington, where should we go to??"
"The hospital."
"Okay."
Felix agreed and drove her to the hospital.
"Mrs. Harrington, are you feeling unwell? Mr. Harrington only told me to be your driver. If I had known you were unwell, I would have asked Mr. Harrington to come along."
"I have a bit of a cold," Victoria said softly, then turned to look out the window.
The snow outside was really thick; she couldn't walk through it.
Felix's car stopped outside, not going any further.
There was at least 4 inches of snow, and the lower the road went, the thicker the snow got. It was very dangerous."Mrs. Harrington, should we head back?" Felix suggested, thinking she could just take some cold medicine at home.
Victoria, with a blank expression, replied, "Felix, I can't go back."
Felix glanced at her, noticing the tears in her eyes despite her smile. He knew about her and Alexander's rocky relationship and understood what she meant. Trying to lighten the mood, he said, "Actually, matters of the heart are hard to fathom. My wife and I broke off our engagement when we were young, but we still ended up having two sons."
But Victoria wasn't convinced. Her situation with Alexander was way more complicated than a broken engagement. She still remembered the moment she grabbed a knife to kill Isabella. Isabella had told her Eloise was dead, and in that instant, her world went dark.
In her pain, she didn't even realize how she ended up with the knife, charging forward. If Alexander hadn't shown up in time, she might have become a murderer. But that didn't change the fact that he didn't love her.
By ten in the morning, the snow on the roadside was cleared, and Felix slowly drove her into the city. Olivia's calls kept coming, but Victoria only answered one before ignoring the rest. Olivia told her not to act impulsively, but Victoria wasn't being impulsive; she just wanted her child back.
She remembered the peaceful months with Strawberry. After Strawberry was born, she was in constant pain, but having that little person next to her made it all bearable. She could endure anything, even breastfeeding successfully.
So, she was really going to the hospital. When they arrived, Felix asked, "Mrs. Harrington, do you want me to come with you?"
Victoria got out of the car and said, "No need, be careful on your way back."
If she had the surgery, she could just hire a nurse. She walked inside, holding her phone, feeling a different kind of loneliness today. Tomorrow, she believed that she wouldn't be lonely anymore. She was sure she could live happily with Strawberry.
She resolutely entered the hospital. When Alexander's call came in, she just glanced at it and then turned off her phone. Felix, however, didn't dare to leave. After a call from Alexander, he got out of the car and quietly followed her.
Victoria was unsure which department to go to: surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics, or oncology? She walked in, puzzled. In the lobby, a family of three was asking the service desk about stomach issues. She didn't dare to ask, afraid of scaring them. She waited on the side, planning to approach the desk when it was empty.
At the Harrington Group office building, Alexander finally let down his guard after arriving at his office. He slowly closed the door and walked towards his desk, trying to call Victoria again. Her phone was still off. Standing behind his desk, he seemed to be covered by a thick layer of frost
