Chapter 659 Mr. Harrington Said He Would Never See This Woman Again
"Don't say that." Victoria's hand gently pressed against Alexander's lips, her eyes already brimming with tears.
It felt like a promise for the future.
Her heart grew increasingly uneasy. Those words seemed to foretell something bad, like they would definitely separate.
She didn't want him to use Janaye to prove his love for her. If they separated and he still kept Janaye by his side, what was she supposed to do?
Alexander looked at her tear-streaked face, gently squeezed her wrist, placed it on his chest, and then kissed her tear-dampened lips again.
Victoria tried to respond to him, but she failed as soon as she started. She could only let him kiss her, uncontrollably falling.
She didn't know where her heart was falling to, and she was very scared, afraid that the dream would become reality.
She didn't like this promise, not at all.
She could only let him kiss her and kept responding to him. She didn't blame herself for still loving him after all she'd been through; she just didn't want to lose him.
They would definitely be together.
'Alexander, my feelings have never really changed.' Victoria silently told herself.
For a long time, she told herself she couldn't love him anymore, that loving him again would be too foolish, but how could she control herself?
Just like when they first met, she was smitten. Feelings were uncontrollable.
When people fell in love with someone, they became blind, even giving up parts of themselves.
Those carefree girls on TV were just forcing themselves to move forward. But how could those wounds be healed?
In this world, everyone was being pushed to make one decision after another, regardless of whether they were good or bad. In the end, everyone had to come to terms with it and continue to live seemingly carefree and indifferent lives.
Humans had always been the best at compromising.
Victoria no longer said she loved him, but when Alexander said he would take her to the office building in the morning, she went with him.
Janaye was overjoyed to see her. Victoria handed her the snacks she had prepared, "I don't know if your tastes have changed, but these are what you used to like."
"Not at all. These are still my favorite." Janaye held the snack box with both hands, almost moved to tears.
For some reason, Janaye felt that Victoria had changed a lot.
If Victoria used to be resilient, forbearing, and cautious, she now had an indescribable gentleness.
Victoria and Alexander entered the office hand in hand, but Janaye felt that Victoria was suppressing herself. More suppressed than when she used to work there.
Janaye wondered if Victoria knew that Isabella had said downstairs yesterday that she wanted to kill her, that vicious woman...
Janaye opened the box and couldn't help but smile, though her smile was tinged with something unfamiliar.
She didn't often shed tears. This emotion came out of nowhere.
Even if she was moved, it shouldn't be like this. Janaye felt she had been acting strange lately, always feeling like something was about to happen.
Later, Janaye went in to help serve drinks and saw Victoria sitting on the sofa reading a magazine. She whispered, "Victoria, I added some milk."
Alexander was reading documents, so she didn't dare speak loudly.
Victoria looked up and saw Janaye's big eyes. She couldn't help but think, 'If Janaye knew she almost lost her job last night, would she still be so happy over a snack?'
But the coffee with milk did smell good.
"Thanks." Victoria held the coffee with both hands, smiling in gratitude.
"I heard you're pregnant, congrats." It wasn't just congratulating her boss's wife, but an old colleague she used to work with.
"Thanks," Victoria mimicked her tone, speaking softly.
Alexander glanced up to see Victoria smiling, then quickly looked back down at his documents, but his expression was noticeably softer.
Janaye left with the tray just as Shoure came to see Alexander. She immediately stopped him, gesturing for silence, and pulled him away.
Shoure thought Janaye had something to say to him, but...
Janaye said, "Victoria is there, don't go in yet. They're doing well in there."
That serene beauty would be a shame to disturb.
"But I need to report my work," Shoure said.
"Just wait half an hour, it won't hurt. Victoria brought me snacks, wanna try some?" Janaye suggested.
Shoure thought for a moment and then nodded, "Alright."
He sat next to her, and they picked their favorite colors to try. Janaye looked very satisfied, but soon she said, "It's rare to see them so good together. Victoria willingly sat inside, without any resistance or discomfort."
Shoure was confused.
"Actually, Victoria used to be very reluctant to be alone with Alexander," Janaye explained.
"That was just a lack of communication on their part. Now they're a legit couple."
"Yeah, and they have a baby, but for some reason, I still feel something is off." Janaye held the snack in one hand and pressed her other hand to her chest.
She felt that something was missing in Victoria's eyes.
Victoria's smile was very gentle, but also...
Soon, Janaye's phone rang. Seeing it was the front desk, she immediately answered, "Hello?"
"Ms. Montgomery is here to see Mr. Harrington."
"Which Ms. Montgomery?"
"Well..."
"Mr. Harrington said he never wants to see this woman, ever." As soon as Janaye heard the name Montgomery, she guessed it was Isabella, so she spoke harshly and added "ever" before hanging up.
Isabella only ever disrupted the happy life Alexander and Victoria had, so it was best if she disappeared immediately.
Victoria rarely came to the office building, and Janaye didn't want to ruin her mood.
Shoure looked at Janaye's angry expression and couldn't help but say, "Are you protecting Victoria?"
"Not just me, you ate the snacks she brought, so you need to be nice to her as well," Janaye said.
Shoure felt that Janaye was very kind to other girls but a bit harsh on him, her official boyfriend.
But he still smiled, "Alright, whatever you say."
Janaye immediately gave him another snack and pulled the rest into her lap, "These are all mine, you only get two to taste."
"Aren't you on a diet?" Shoure asked her.
Janaye usually only took a couple of bites and gave the rest to him.
"Of course, I still need to diet, but these are from Victoria, and every flavor is my favorite."
"Have you ever thought that you have too many favorite flavors?"
"I like even more types of men." Janaye didn't care about him.
Shoure laughed, "We'll talk after work."
He stuffed the entire snack into his mouth, grabbed his documents, and left.
Work still needed to be done, and he felt sorry for disturbing the couple.
Downstairs, Isabella stood there, listening to a security guard say, "Mr. and Mrs. Harrington came together. How could he possibly see you?"
Isabella immediately asked in annoyance, "What? Victoria is here too? What is she doing here? She doesn't even work here anymore."
