Chapter 291 Deceiving him to Divorce
"Absolutely not," Victoria declared with unwavering resolve.A flicker of disappointment crossed Alexander's face, but he leaned in to kiss her nonetheless. He held his breath, his lips gently caressing hers in a way she hadn't expected. His gentleness was a surprise, a stark contrast to his usual demeanor. It was as if he was afraid of frightening her away.As dawn broke, Alexander sighed softly, his body resting lightly on hers. He whispered into her ear, "One day, you will willingly share my bed."Victoria, however, was certain that day would never come. If he could manipulate her emotions, why couldn't she do the same to him?In a sudden turn of events, Victoria proposed, "How about we get a divorce tomorrow morning, and then I'll sleep with you."Alexander was taken aback by her words. He fell silent, his brows furrowing as he studied her. "Darling," he began, "divorce is no small matter. If I were to believe you, you wouldn't be so smitten with me."The following morning, they shared breakfast together.Alexander watched her for a moment before suggesting, "Why don't you come to work with me today?"Victoria looked up at him, "I have already found another job."Across the table, Alexander smiled lightly before his expression turned serious. "I took care of that for you while I was away on business.""You had me fired?" Victoria asked, taken aback."I know the owner of the company. When he found out you were my wife, he agreed to your resignation. He even had a few other things to say.""What else did he say?" Victoria asked, puzzled."He said he would attend our wedding," Alexander replied."Who said anything about a wedding?" Victoria retorted, rising to her feet in anger. How dare he make decisions for her?"Victoria, we will definitely have a wedding," Alexander asserted."We won't," Victoria countered as she headed for the door. She turned back to him, her voice firm, "We've grown too far apart. There's no going back.""Don't be so sure," Alexander said with a smile playing on his lips.Victoria despised his unwavering confidence in his ability to control her. As she prepared to leave, she turned back to him one last time. "Mr. Harrington, I would appreciate it if you stopped harassing me.""Are you sure about that?" Alexander asked, his gaze lowering.Victoria remained silent."I'm telling you this for your own good. You're not safe overseas. You should abandon any thoughts of returning to Danisland. And if you refuse to come back to the company, I'll have no choice but to fire Jasmine," Alexander warned."Why?" Victoria asked, failing to see the connection between her decision and Jasmine's job."She's made too many mistakes. She's not cut out to be a secretary," Alexander replied calmly. He rose from his seat and moved towards her.Victoria instinctively backed away. As he drew closer, she turned to run, but Alexander caught her in his arms. He looked down at Victoria, who was always trying to escape him, and said, "Come to work with me.""I won't," Victoria refused."Either you come willingly, or I'll carry you there. The choice is yours," Alexander declared.Victoria never expected to find herself back at the company, let alone running into Isabella at the restaurant that afternoon.Upon seeing Victoria, Isabella sneered and made her way over. "I never thought you'd be so brazen."Victoria was dining with Jasmine and hadn't anticipated running into Isabella."Was your robbery encounter genuine?" Isabella asked, grabbing Victoria's hand and forcefully removing the scarf from her wrist.Victoria was taken aback and quickly rose to her feet. "What do you think you're doing?""If you were really injured in a robbery, why would you need to hide it?""I have no idea what you're talking about," Victoria said angrily, covering the scar on her wrist."I've heard of numerous cases of single women being assaulted abroad," Isabella continued.Jasmine was taken aback, unable to utter a word.Victoria looked at Isabella, realizing that she was somehow connected to this situation."Did you hide something to maintain your lavish lifestyle?" Isabella asked, her tone accusatory.
