Chapter 491 Confirming with Her in a Suddenly Serious Whisper
"""There's nothing wrong with you. We've seen his temper—no need to disturb you two. Couples fight often but reconcile soon. May you two give me a great-grandchild soon?"" Eloise said a few words and ended the call, but Victoria was still leaning by the window, feeling a bit down.
Did he leave?
She hadn't asked him yet if he knew Isabella was pretending.
Actually, she suddenly wasn't sure if she needed to ask.
Maybe he knew everything from the start?
He was just being gentle with his childhood playmate, unwilling to expose her.
What was that saying again?
She made a fuss, but he smiled.
He wasn't smiling but quietly indulging her.
Victoria felt a sense of defeat. It wasn't until her stomach growled that she left the bedroom.
The lights outside were all on, even in the kitchen.
Victoria had yet to go to the kitchen since she got back. Why was the light on?
There were faint sounds inside. Victoria listened carefully and then quietly peeked in.
When she saw the man holding a bowl of soup looking at her, her eyes immediately welled up.
It was Alexander.
He didn't leave.
He even made the soup.
""There isn't much in the fridge, so I just make the soup. If you want to eat, come over,"" Alexander said calmly, placing the bowl where she usually sat.
Victoria silently watched him go back to get another bowl, feeling a sudden tightness in her chest.
Didn't he say she wasn't his type?
Didn't he say he had something to do and had to leave?
Did leaving mean leaving the bedroom?
Was he, who dressed so neatly and cleanly, actually cooking soupin the kitchen?
What exactly did he want?
Victoria walked over, gently pulled out a chair, and looked at the bowl of soup, unable to help but ask softly, ""Is this a smiley face?""
""Yeah, the two gloomy faces in the house were driving me crazy.""
Alexander said as he walked back. His bowl also had a smiley face.
So, did two gloomy faces pair with two seaweed smiley faces?
She looked at the smiling eyes in the two bowls, just a curved line, but she couldn't help but laugh.
Alexander pulled out a chair and, hearing her sudden laugh, couldn't help but look up.
Damn.
What was she laughing at now?
Earlier, she was crying her eyes out on the bed.
Why did she get so defensive when he touched her since she was the one who initially provoked him?
And he couldn't even fight back when she bit him in his most sensitive spot?
Holding a knife but not daring to use it, how did she plan to deal with anyone?
Alexander sat down and picked up a fork. ""Let's eat.""
""Okay,"" she obediently agreed but immediately went to the kitchen.
""Here."" When she came back out, she was holding two spoons, one pink and one blue.
Alexander stared at the one she handed him, uncertainly asking, ""Special use?""
""I bought six of the same kind, just different colors,"" she said as she sat down.
She took a sip of the soup.
Alexander couldn't help but stare at her. Six? Who else did she plan to use them for?
Adrian immediately came to mind, and suddenly, he felt a bit...
""Do you want vinegar?"" Victoria suddenly got up. She liked adding vinegar to her seaweed soup.
Alexander frowned. He was already full. Why add more?
But he asked her, ""Your kitchen's vinegar isn't sour enough for me. I don't need it.""
""Do you have a favorite brand?"" Victoria got the vinegar and added it to her soup, asking him.
""Yeah,"" He replied.
Victoria stirred her soup, curiously asking, ""What brand?""
She could buy it for him next time.
""The Victoria brand,"" Alexander replied.
Victoria took a moment to understand, then instantly lowered her head in embarrassment.
Victoria went to wash the dishes after supper, but Alexander grabbed the bowl. ""Go chat with other men. I'll wash the dishes.""
Victoria instinctively looked up at him.
What other men was she supposed to chat with?
There was only him here.
Was he still jealous?
He must have a big heart to be jealous of so many women at once.
""May I ask Mr. Harrington a question?"" Victoria asked.
""Go ahead."" Alexander was washing the dishes, his voice calm.
""Besides liking the Victoria brand vinegar, does Mr. Harrington also like the Isabella brand vinegar? Or any other woman's brand of Isabella vinegar?"" She asked.
Alexander's dishwashing paused, and after a few seconds, he looked at her irritably.
""It's my fault for talking too much. I'll go chat with other men now."" She lowered her head and walked out.
Alexander raised his head, took a deep breath, and then finished washing and putting away the dishes.
Victoria just turned on the TV in the living room. It was a talk show.
Alexander approached her and found her watching TV, but she remained calm, like a reporter, while the viewers laughed.
""What do you want to watch?"" Alexander asked.
""What?"" Victoria snapped out of it, turned to see him sitting next to her, and nervously hurried over. "" He's Watching a talk show.""
Alexander stared at her without saying anything, just handed her a yogurt stick.
Victoria took it, wanting to say thank you, but realized it was the one she had frozen in the fridge earlier.
Alexander also had one, opened it, and started drinking, then looked at her. ""What?""
""Nothing."" Victoria also opened hers.
They silently ate the frozen yogurt sticks, and the atmosphere gradually became a bit strange.
Victoria couldn't help but look under the table, then at him.
Alexander glanced at her, then more seriously at her. ""Wait a moment.""
Victoria watched as he suddenly got up and walked towards the main bedroom.
Not long after, he came out with a box. ""Here.""
""What?"" Victoria didn't take it.
""To find out, open it. When I walked out, Grandmaurged me to bring you a gift. The last one at The Harrington Mansion was forgotten. Next time you visit, get it from the bedroom bedside table,"" Alexander said.
Victoria glanced at the beautiful box. She didn't feel she should take it, but he kept holding it out.
So, she opened the box while sipping the yogurt stick and saw a beautiful, colorful bracelet.
It was made of pink, yellow, and blue diamonds, each at least seven or eight carats.
""Do you like it?"" Alexander asked, looking at her.
Victoria still had the yogurt stick. Hearing his voice, she turned to look at him.
Alexander reached out and took the yogurt stick from her mouth.
The atmosphere was a bit awkward, especially when his fingers gently wiped her mouth.
The little, chilly area heated up quickly.
Alexander held both yogurt sticks between his fingers and asked again, ""Do you like it or not?""
""I like it."" She looked at him and replied. She really liked it.
""Victoria, what did I just say?"" Alexander suddenly asked her seriously in a low voice.
""Or should I ask directly, do you like the bracelet or me?"" He added."
