Chapter 578 Your Husband Loves You to the Point of Madness

In the VIP ward, the hospital dean stood at the bedside with the department head and two doctors.

"It doesn't look like a sharp weapon injury. Do you know how you got hurt?" the doctor asked.

"It was a phone," Victoria answered, sitting up against the headboard.

"A phone? That's unexpected." The director was a bit puzzled. He had seen many bizarre weapons, but injuries caused by a phone were rare.

Alexander stood on the other side of her, and his heart sank when he heard it was a phone.

The director personally stitched her up, sensing the strange atmosphere in the room. After the examination, he left with the others.

Only Alexander and Adrian were left in the room. Adrian had been sitting by her bedside.

Adrian asked worriedly, "Who hit you?"

"Those two people pretending to be reporters," Victoria said.

Adrian felt distressed, thinking he should have noticed something was wrong earlier.

Seeing his guilt, Victoria asked, "Adrian, did you save me?"

Adrian snapped out of it. Seeing the gratitude in her eyes, he immediately lowered his head and replied, "No."

"No?" Victoria saw he didn't want to lie and instinctively looked at Alexander standing nearby.

"He was the first to realize you might have been kidnapped, so he saved you." Alexander didn't take the credit.

Adrian was childish, but he was still his brother.

Surprised by his words and feeling very uncomfortable, Adrian stood up and said to Victoria, "Take care, and I'll visit you another day."

"Adrian," Victoria instinctively called out to him.

Adrian stopped but didn't dare to look back at her.

"Thank you," Victoria said politely.

Hearing this, Adrian immediately walked out with big strides.

He didn't want that "thank you."

He didn't need Alexander to tell Victoria that he also saved her, either.

Because he couldn't find Victoria, only Alexander could.

Moreover, since Victoria came out of the ICU, she had been tense around Alexander. He understood that loving someone was like that.

Victoria didn't love him, so even her thank you was so polite without any other feelings.

But as soon as he left, the large ward felt excessively quiet.

Victoria was still sitting there, not knowing what to say.

"He was really worried about you, staying here for two days waiting for you to come out," Alexander spoke first in a calm tone.

Victoria was puzzled by his words.

The next second, Alexander seriously reminded her, "But even so, he can only be your uncle."

He didn't want her to develop other feelings for Adrian because of his concern and rescue.

After hearing his words, Victoria just lowered her head, fiddling with her fingers. Seeing she didn't want to talk, Alexander walked over, sat in front of her, and looked at her. "Don't you want to say something to me?"

"Alright," Victoria mumbled.

"Alright?" Alexander frowned, not understanding what she meant.

Victoria came to her senses, fiddling with her fingers, and said to him, "Thank you for staying with me. I'm fine now; you should go back and have a rest."

He really looked exhausted. Even his beard had grown out.

Hearing her tell him to go back, Alexander felt a pang of sadness.

She just came out and was already sending him away.

Alexander thought, 'After such a big incident, she must be very scared. Doesn't she want me to stay with her?'

Then he asked, "If I go back to rest, who will take care of you?"

"I'm fine," Victoria said again.

"I'm not fine," Alexander suddenly said.

Victoria looked at him, puzzled. "What's the matter?"

Alexander replied, "I haven't slept for two days watching over you. I can't walk anymore."

Victoria was at a loss for words, her eyes stinging, unable to see anything clearly.

Later, Alexander slept beside her.

She leaned against the headboard, silently watching him sleep.

Her fingers involuntarily touched his eyebrows and eyes.

She really hated herself like this.

But she thought she should let him sleep.

Now she had no family, but when something happened, there was still someone frantically looking for her, staying with her. She should be grateful.

Victoria wondered, 'Was it Dorian who had someone harm me, or did Isabella and Dorian conspire together?'

If it were when she first met Isabella, she wouldn't have thought it had anything to do with Isabella.

After all, Dorian was her father.

But now, she was worried that this matter might be related to Isabella.

But she didn't want to blame Alexander.

Some people were stubborn. Even after being repeatedly rejected, they still disturbed the others, which was a psychological distortion, like Isabella.

These people were certainly pitiful but also very scary.

——

In the evening, Benjamin and Tessa, along with Edward and Olivia, came to the hospital to visit her.

The gift was still strawberries.

Olivia bought flowers and, after looking at Victoria's head wound with Tessa, they were relieved to see that the wound wasn't too deep. Although it was stitched, Victoria seemed fine, and everyone felt at ease.

Olivia sat by her bedside and said softly, "Tonight's breaking news! The Montgomery Group's CEO admitted to raping many young girls and even has an illegitimate child."

"Is that true?" Victoria couldn't believe it.

Olivia replied, "Of course it's true. It's said that his mistress and illegitimate child are in our city, and we might even know them."

Tessa joined the conversation with interest. "That's definitely breaking news, but the best part is that he'll at least spend a few years in prison."

Edward, Alexander, and Benjamin started talking.

"Too bad he already has a son outside, otherwise it would be even more great," Benjamin added.

"What does that mean?" Victoria felt like she couldn't understand what they were saying after being in the ICU for two days.

"I heard that before the police found him, he had a few ribs broken and..." Olivia whispered to her.

"And what?" Tessa, not hearing, eagerly leaned in.

"That thing doesn't work anymore," Olivia bluntly said, making Tessa's eyes widen in shock and amusement.

"It's late. She's weak and needs rest. You should leave early." After less than half an hour, Alexander started to send them away.

"But Alexander, we still want to chat with Felicity a bit more." Tessa pretended to pout at him.

Alexander's eyes narrowed, and after a moment, he looked at Benjamin.

Benjamin smiled awkwardly but politely, "She's your wife. Why are you looking at me?"

"She's my wife. You better not regret it." Alexander immediately threatened.

Benjamin quickly stood up. "Victoria, I want to formally introduce you."

"Okay." Victoria nodded.

"My girlfriend, Tessa, has nothing to do with your husband, understand?"

"Understood," Victoria quickly agreed.

After they all left, Alexander closed the door and came back. Victoria asked, "Did you notice Mr. Beaumont is very nervous about you and Mrs. Hughes?"

Alexander said, "He's already blinded by jealousy."

"What?" Victoria was puzzled.

He walked to the bedside, leaned in close to her, and looked into her eyes. "Haven't you noticed someone loves you so much they're almost going crazy?"

"Who?"

"Your husband, me."
