Chapter 544 Saying He Reluctantly Troubles Her

It was Alexander.

Victoria squinted, trying to make out the license plate from a distance. She couldn't see it clearly, but she just knew it was Alexander's car.

Edward had said Alexander brought him here but didn't Alexander leave?

Lost in thought, Victoria was brought back by her phone ringing again. She answered it and sprinted towards the hotel.

At the entrance, she stopped, unable to go any further.

Alexander had warned her that the authorities would come looking for her. He said they would, and she believed him.

Fear gripped her. She didn't know what to do.

Dennis emerged with two uniformed men. Spotting Victoria, he said, "Felicity, everything's been sorted. Why are you just getting back?"

"Sorted?" Victoria glanced at Dennis, then at the two officials. "I was at a restaurant, a bit far away. Sorry for being late."

"No problem. Mrs. Harrington, since you're back, we can wrap things up. We asked Mr. Harrington to cancel your account, but he refused. Seems he was right," one of the officials said.

"That's correct," Victoria replied softly.

The officials quickly got into their car and left. Victoria stood there, feeling lost.

Dennis couldn't help but comment, "Anyone who didn't know better would think you committed a crime, being this scared."

Victoria turned to Dennis, feeling the need to apologize. "Mr. Barnes, I..."

"Stop. With your current status, it's all benefit and no harm to me, so don't apologize," Dennis said, walking back inside.

Victoria stood there, pondering, 'My current status?'

She noticed the officials had parked next to Alexander's car. They were talking.

Her brow furrowed. 'Did Alexander bring them here? He's so despicable.'

After the officials left, Alexander got into his car.

Victoria found it amusing. No wonder Alexander didn't come this way. Usually, he'd park inside the hotel if he could.

As she approached the hotel, she saw Alexander's car turning.

For some reason, she froze.

'Am I seeing things?' she thought.

But within seconds, she confirmed his car was heading towards the hotel. She quickly ran inside like a frightened rabbit.

Alexander's car stopped at the entrance. Seeing Victoria run away, he sighed coldly.

But tonight, he didn't plan to look for her.

He was sure that tomorrow she would come to him herself. She would have to beg him.

Early the next morning, Victoria went with Adrian to shoot a scene where they watched the sunrise together. She had her makeup done early but was distracted the whole time.

Since it was just a back view, the two sat in travel chairs, fingers interlocked.

Upon grasping Victoria's hand, Adrian felt as if hid heart might leap from his chest; however, he diligently preserved an exterior demeanor of tranquility.

Victoria felt nothing, only that Adrian's hand was cold. She turned to him and looked closer. "Adrian, breathe."

Adrian suddenly blushed deeply.

Soon, Victoria felt her palm was sweaty, but it wasn't her sweat.

Holding hands with someone you had no feelings for really didn't bring any joy.

Unfortunately, the one she had feelings for was a douchebag, so she looked ahead without saying a word.

Adrian couldn't speak either; his throat was tight, and he really couldn't breathe.

"Ready to start." The crew came to fix their hair and then quickly stepped back.

After this scene, Victoria had scenes with the lead actress and the supporting actress all day. The supporting actress kept hitting Victoria, making her face swell.

When Victoria finished work in the evening, Dennis handed her phone to her and said, "Mr. Jane called you today."

Victoria, feeling dizzy from the hits, didn't have the energy to ask why Dennis didn't notify her earlier. She took the phone and immediately called Shoure. "Hello, Shoure. I just finished filming."

Shoure said, "Mr. Harrington wants you to see him in person. He's waiting for you in his office."

"I know." Victoria had no energy left. She turned to Dennis and asked, "Mr. Barnes, can you call a car for me? I need to go to the Harrington Group building."

Dennis, who was talking to someone, immediately put his phone in his pocket when he heard she needed to go to the Harrington Group building. "I'll take you there. How many slaps did you get?"

He lifted her chin to look at her face, frowning unconsciously.

The supporting actress was arrogant because it was her first time playing a supporting role. She vented her fury on Victoria, who was managed by Dennis. Dennis was a bit annoyed and decided to find an opportunity to get back at her.

Later, he asked the hotel staff for ice to help Victoria with the swelling.

Victoria pressed the ice to one side of her face and whispered, "You said I took someone's role, could it be hers?"

"Of course not." Dennis immediately denied it.

"Tomorrow's scene is me hitting her."

"What?" Seeing Victoria mumbling to herself, Dennis glanced at her.

A sly look flashed in Victoria's eyes.

No one would take slaps for nothing, especially not so many.

"But is it okay for you to see Alexander like this?" Dennis asked as he parked the car under the imposing Harrington Group office building.

"It's fine." Victoria looked at the building, reminding herself to stay calm.

She was here today for her parents' sake.

Alexander had called her parents his in-laws that day. He should still have some humanity left.

Dennis instructed her as Victoria got out of the car, "Call me if you need anything."

Victoria nodded, then walked inside with her bag.

The staff at the entrance suddenly stood up to greet her. "Mrs. Kensington."

Victoria was stunned for a moment, then smiled and nodded embarrassedly.

She continued walking inside and entered the employee elevator.

She ceased using the CEO's private elevator, not due to their separation, but because she no longer wished to feel Alexander's presence.

She hated that every time she closed her eyes, all she saw was Alexander.

But she eventually reached that floor.

Janaye was still there, probably waiting for Victoria. When Janaye saw Victoria, she immediately stood up. "Victoria, you're here."

Victoria greeted. "Hello."

Janaye whispered, "Mr. Harrington has been waiting for you; he asked about you dozens of times since this morning."

Victoria smiled in thanks and then looked at the door.

Janaye comforted her, "Don't be nervous. Mr. Harrington wouldn't bear to make things difficult for you."

Victoria couldn't help but be nervous, thinking they didn't know the whole truth.

However, Victoria still walked over, not quite sure how to handle the upcoming conversation.

She hesitated to knock on the door, and Janaye, holding her bag, quickly ran over to knock for her, whispering, "Mr. Harrington said I could leave once you arrived. Goodbye."

As soon as Janaye ran off, a familiar deep voice came from inside. "Come in."
