Chapter 570 He Felt Guilty

Back in the master bedroom for two, Victoria felt no sense of security anywhere on her body.

After placing her on the bed, Alexander sat in front of her and asked, "You're not planning to hold onto that all night, are you?"

Victoria clutched the mermaid doll tightly. "Yes."

Since she couldn't leave anyway, she wished she could hang trinkets all over herself.

Alexander chuckled. "Alright, I'll reluctantly accept that, but..."

Victoria asked, "But what?"

"There's something I need to take out," Alexander replied.

"What?" Victoria had completely forgotten.

Then Alexander pulled the scarf out from her chest.

Victoria's face immediately blushed. By the time she realized and tried to snatch it back, it was too late. Alexander had the scarf wrapped around his hand, his eyes glinting with a bit of mischief. "Did you think I didn't see it?"

He had seen her hide it in the children's room earlier.

But at that time, he had to deal with her wound first. So, he didn't rush to make her angry.

Victoria was at a loss for words.

She thought, 'How was he so quick? He could see everything and take everything.'

Alexander said, "We won't not use this scarf tonight, okay?"

"Really?" Victoria was so moved that she almost cried.

Alexander said, "But you have to behave."

Victoria, who had just happily nodded, immediately shrank back.

"Can we just sleep?" Victoria looked at him in confusion, asking with her eyes if they could just sleep like before.

Alexander replied, "Yes, I promise."

"And you can't let me use my hand to help you." Victoria immediately made a demand.

Now, it was Alexander's turn to remain silent.

All the past moments in bed flashed in his mind.

He felt a bit crazy inside and couldn't help but tease with a laugh, "Maybe it doesn't work anymore."

Victoria looked at him in shock and asked after a while, "What do you mean it?"

"The thing your hand helped with," Alexander said, turning to lie down beside her with a sigh.

Victoria stared blankly at his melancholy face, then instinctively glanced downward, and then...

'He must be joking with me,' she thought.

Thinking this, Victoria hugged the mermaid and lay down, but with her back to him.

After she lay down, Alexander raised his hand to gently stroke her long hair and whispered, "Victoria."

Victoria asked, "What?"

"Can I hold you?" Alexander said.

"No." As soon as Victoria said no, he quickly pressed against her back and wrapped his arms around her.

Victoria thought, 'Why did he even ask?'

She lay there awkwardly, feeling indifferent at the moment.

But Alexander behind her was a bit restless.

Trying to distract him, Victoria started talking to him in a low voice, "Is your marriage certificate with Tessa fake?"

He replied, "If it were real, it would be bigamy."

Victoria finally brought up the topic, which made him feel a bit better.

She said, "Then Tessa and Mr. Beaumont..."

Alexander said, "If they had a child before us, can you imagine how aggrieved I would be?"

He was the one who got married first, after all.

But now, those men all had women who loved them, except for him.

Alexander tightened his hold on her, but he didn't do anything excessive.

Since she was talking to him so calmly, he didn't want to break the peace.

Maybe they could clear everything up tonight.

From his words, Victoria could confirm that Tessa and Benjamin were indeed a couple.

She had always felt that something was off between Tessa and Benjamin. Although they didn't interact much, the vibe between them was special.

Even though Tessa called Alexander very intimately, it was clearly to provoke Benjamin.

Victoria wanted to say something more. But as soon as her head hit the pillow, she felt sleepy.

"Victoria."

The voice behind her was already becoming indistinct.

Last night, she couldn't sleep because of that wedding photo. Tonight, she completely ignored it.

She was so tired.

By the time Alexander realized something was wrong, it was too late. He looked up to see her sleeping soundly, hugging the mermaid doll.

Alexander felt a pang of jealousy as he looked at the mermaid doll. Victoria was asleep, but she was hugging something else. He couldn't stand that.

He quietly pulled it away, and she immediately made a displeased sound.

Alexander carefully tossed it behind him. The sleeping Victoria reflexively reached out to find it, and then...

He looked down at the woman who had burrowed into his arms, his heart melting.

Victoria was really sleeping deeply. She hadn't even removed her makeup.

——

The next day, it was drizzling.

Victoria woke up because her face was too itchy. She raised her hand to scratch it, feeling pain, and then groggily opened her eyes and got up.

It was very dark outside, but she still saw the marriage license opposite her.

The photo was so large that it was hard to miss.

Victoria didn't have time to think too much. She rubbed her face again, groggily thinking she might not have washed her face last night. When she moved her leg to get up, her knee immediately hurt.

The memories that had temporarily faded last night came rushing back.

She looked down at the wound on her knee and had to get out of bed slowly.

When she saw the mermaid doll lying next to her, her frustration eased a lot. Did she sleep with it all night?

'Could she be allergic to plush toys?' she thought.Thinking this, she quickly got out of bed and went to the bathroom.

The bathroom had all kinds of women's skincare products and makeup removers. Although the packaging was opened, they were all new.

She glanced around, found a bottle of makeup remover, and then stretched her neck to look at her face in the mirror, which seemed to have some bumps. She immediately looked for makeup remover wipes but couldn't find any, so she had to pour the remover into her hand and rub it on.

There were two pimples at the corner of her right eye. After cleaning and skincare, the rest of her face had recovered.

Victoria was still a bit worried. She had a close-up scene today.

When the door was knocked from the outside, she instinctively turned to look.

Alexander said, "Dennis just called to say today's shoot is canceled. You can rest at home for a day."

Victoria asked, "Really?"

Just as well, her swollen and pimply face wasn't fit for going out.

"Yes," Alexander responded, then took her phone to give to her. Seeing her face a bit swollen, he asked, "What's wrong with your face?"

Hearing his question, Victoria nervously looked in the mirror again and replied, "Maybe I'm allergic to plush toys. Did I sleep with that mermaid doll all night?"

A flash of doubt crossed Alexander's eyes, followed by a guilty look. But his voice was firm, "Yes, I'll make you a cup of coffee."

Victoria said, "Okay, thank you."

She found his behavior a bit odd this morning.

Usually, he would hug her and kiss her in the morning. She thought, 'Does he think I look ugly now?'

If that were the case, it would be easier to get him to shift his focus away from her.

Victoria went downstairs and directly to the dining room. Alexander had just finished making breakfast. Seeing her come down, still wearing the new clothes he had someone send over, he felt better and reminded her, "The coffee should be just right to drink."

"Thank you," Victoria replied, took a sip of the coffee, found it tasted good, and continued drinking.

His phone was on the dining table. When it rang, he said, "Could you answer that for me?"

Victoria, holding her coffee cup, glanced at the number displayed and reminded him, "You'd better answer it yourself."
