Chapter 121 Victoria Confirmed as the Favored Daughter-In-Law of the Harrington Family

During his time abroad, he had pledged to Isabella a rightful place in his life.

Upon hearing this, Isabella instinctively cast a glance toward Sebastian.

Sebastian, however, lowered his gaze, remaining silent on her behalf as he reached for his drink. As he sipped, unwelcome memories began to resurface, compelling him to set the glass aside.

"Can you speak to him on my behalf?" she implored, "We're adults; we can't afford to be indecisive. If he refuses to marry me, I'll be left with no option but to terminate the pregnancy, which I'm reluctant to do, Ed. Could you, for the sake of our shared past, do this for me?"

Isabella beseeched Edward once more for his intervention.

Among their circle, Edward and Benjamin were the most rational and discerning. However, Benjamin refrained from meddling in personal affairs, while Edward maintained a sense of allegiance to old friendships.

"I'll speak to him," Edward conceded, "But Isabella, remember, they're legally wed, and Victoria is the acknowledged daughter-in-law of the Harrington family."

In the Harrington's perspective, Victoria's status was unparalleled, unmatched by any other heiress, regardless of their power or connections.

The Kensingtons were a family of intellectuals—Victoria's grandfather had been the dean of A-city University, and her grandmother, a celebrated artist. Their lineage was illustrious.

However, the Kensingtons were scarce in number, leading to Victoria's protection under the Harrington's wing. Had there been more Kensington offspring, perhaps Victoria would have been spared from the conflict between Alexander and Isabella.

Edward typically refrained from involving himself in the issues of others—after all, how did they concern him?

It was possible that Edward had recently taken Victoria's predicament into account due to a shift in Alexander's behavior.

But what had Victoria done to deserve this? She returned for a birthday celebration only to lose her parents. She believed she had found true love, only to learn he had impregnated another woman.

Edward harbored his own uncertainties about the mess Alexander and Isabella had created. Alexander had always been principled, never one to engage in frivolous affairs, even if discontent at home. But that night, something transpired, they all drank excessively, and he, uncharacteristically, became intoxicated.

"Some might argue she's fortunate, exchanging her parents' lives for the title of Mrs. Harrington."

Isabella, in reality, was consumed by envy.

Victoria had seamlessly transitioned into the role of Mrs. Harrington, while she, Isabella…

Who was a more suitable match for her in terms of education and family background?

In their social circle, she had always been regarded as the perfect partner for Alexander.

But then...

Edward and Sebastian both halted, taken aback.

Good fortune?

Exchanging one's parents' lives for a title?

Edward and Sebastian questioned their hearing, let alone the woman before them. Was this truly the open-minded, compassionate Miss Isabella from the Montgomery family they once knew?

"Forget it, I'm leaving first. Just remind him that I'm carrying his child," Isabella declared, rising to depart.

"Doesn't Isabella seem different to you?" Edward queried Sebastian after her departure, only to find Sebastian similarly deep in thought.

"I should leave as well," Sebastian announced, providing no further explanation.

Following Sebastian's exit, Edward's confusion deepened, and he trailed after him.

Sebastian's car was stationed directly at the hotel entrance, and Isabella climbed into his vehicle.

After concluding a phone call, Edward quietly slid his phone back into his pocket, convinced that something was transpiring between the two.

Within the Regal Retreat, Alexander and Victoria stood in a room, maintaining a distance from each other.

"Can we talk?" Victoria asked.

"Sure," he replied.
