Chapter 841 So Grateful to Him That She Wants to Divorce Him?
Alexander kept repeating the sentence over and over, becoming increasingly stubborn.
Victoria, however, thought to herself, 'What exactly are I responsible for?
'As he said before, we are still married, so what if we had sex once?'
'Even if they did it more than once last night, so what?'
'It was just one night, and there was a reason for our sexual encounter last night, it was understandable.'
So, she didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
Until she tried to move but felt a sharp pain. She gasped and asked softly, "How long did you last last night?"
"It's not my fault. You kept asking me to."
Victoria felt she was the one who initiated it, so she didn't argue further. Just as she was about to lift the blanket and get out of bed, her shoulder was held down.
His palm was unusually cool as he pulled her into his arms, holding her with both hands, looking down at her still-flushed face, "Baby, I gave you a contraceptive pill today."
Victoria's heart tightened, and she looked up at him.
"Last night was sudden; I didn't have time to prepare a condom."
He continued to explain seriously.
Victoria saw his guilty expression and felt too exhausted to guess whether he was telling the truth. She just thought that she didn't have the energy to have a baby anyway, so she simply responded.
"I promise this won't happen again. Even if one of us has to take birth control, it should be me."
Victoria couldn't take in too much of what he was saying; she was too tired and easily distracted.
But as Alexander continued, she caught onto one key point.
'What do you mean by that?'
'There won't be a future for us.'
She looked up and seriously asked him, "Was my drink drugged last night?"
"Yes."
"Then I shouldn't have to worry about being drugged again, right?"
"Of course, I won't let that happen again."
"Then I can guarantee that we won't have a future."
"What?"
"Just consider last night an accident; we are still getting a divorce."
She calmly confirmed this with him.
The satisfaction on Alexander's face instantly disappeared.
"Let's go home."
Seeing his displeasure, Victoria immediately wanted to return to Metro House for refuge.
Alexander let go of her and leaned to the side in silence.
Victoria suddenly felt unsupported, and getting up was a struggle.
What happened to her legs?
Alexander lifted his eyelids but remained unmoved.
After all, last night was an accident.
Victoria knew she had overindulged last night.
Her whole body hurt terribly, even her throat.
She glanced at Alexander.
Alexander was playing with his fingers, completely ignoring her gaze.
Victoria felt a pang of sadness, seeing his indifferent attitude. She regretted breaking up with him so quickly.
But if they had overindulged last night, why did he seem perfectly fine?
Victoria felt it was unfair. 'Why do some people suffer so much while others act like nothing happened?'
"Mr. Harrington?"
Victoria, needing his help, addressed him respectfully.
Alexander barely lifted his eyelids, still ignoring her.
"Have you seen my clothes?"
Victoria asked in a gentle tone.
Alexander turned slightly, like a wronged child who hadn't been comforted, and said in a low voice, "I don't know, I didn't see them."
Victoria's eyes showed her displeasure, thinking if he didn't know, who would?
She raised her hand to scratch her head but couldn't lift it, feeling dejected about last night's events.
She seemed to have bitten into something delicious.
Damn, she thought about so many things but couldn't remember anything related to her clothes from last night.
Victoria then lay back on the bed, not moving.
She couldn't find her clothes, how could she go out?
She could ask someone to bring them.
But where was her phone?
Victoria looked up at the person next to her and sighed.
Alexander was still looking at his fingers, completely ignoring her.
Victoria had no choice but to gently tug at his shirt.
Alexander finally looked at the spot where her two fingers were pinching and said coldly, "Let go."
He never expected him to tell her to let go one day; it was quite satisfying, no wonder she always said it.
But Victoria still held onto him, tears welling up in her eyes. She didn't know why her eyes felt so hot. She had intended to act pitifully, but the tears came out unexpectedly.
"Where's my phone?"
Her voice was filled with grievance and weakness.
"I don't know."
Another indifferent response from Alexander.
Victoria's tears had barely stopped when he made her cry again.
Alexander still refused to look at her directly.
Victoria let go of him, turned away, and ignored him.
'Forget it. He wasn't going to tell me the truth anyway.'
'Nothing was okay, and he didn't know anything.'
Victoria felt even worse. She used to say things like this often, too.
He must have felt terrible back then, too.
Was this his punishment for her?
No clothes, no phone, she was completely stuck now.
But then a phone rang. She instinctively got up, but when she saw Alexander answering the call, she slowly lay back down.
Alexander glanced at her unintentionally, then his eyes fixed on her.
She looked so pitiful and lazy.
"Got it, hang up, we'll talk tomorrow."
Alexander hung up the phone and reluctantly looked away.
Her body must be in a lot of pain now. Honestly, if they hadn't been so indulgent last night, she wouldn't be lying there so quietly.
Soon, there was a knock on the door from outside.
Victoria instinctively covered herself tightly with the blanket.
Alexander was pleased with her self-protective instinct, but it wasn't directed at him.
Alexander remembered her calling his name repeatedly last night, saying she loved him.
The bit of anger he had felt from her earlier quickly dissipated, and he got up swiftly.
Victoria, with everything below her neck covered by the blanket, watched him walk out with his long legs.
He soon returned, pushing a food cart.
Victoria smelled the aroma of soup and, seeing no one else following him, quickly sat up.
She was so hungry.
Alexander didn't say anything as he saw her sit up. He just folded the food cart several times, turning it into a bed desk and placing it on the bed.
The soup looked like it would be perfect for her.
Alexander watched her find a spoon on her own and didn't say much. He first served her a bowl of soup and placed it in front of her.
Victoria instinctively held the bowl with both hands and couldn't help but say softly, "Thank you."
This thank you was genuinely heartfelt.
Alexander looked at her deeply, "Because you're so grateful to me that you want to divorce me?"
