Chapter 654 She Was the One Who Should Have Died
Blood kept gushing from Victoria's lower abdomen, and large clots were coming out. She couldn't tell if they were just clots or her baby until her belly felt empty, like it had been scooped out.
The room was dead quiet, and she sat on the bed, gasping for air.
Out of nowhere, a hand landed on her shoulder, and she whipped her head around, scared out of her mind.
"Another nightmare?" Alexander pulled her into his arms, rubbing her back.
Victoria leaned into him, too scared to shut her eyes 'cause every time she did, those bloody scenes came back.
She just snuggled closer, her voice all raspy, "Alexander, hold me tight, please."
Alexander held her tight, feeling the sweat on her forehead. He wiped it away, kissed her gently, and whispered, "How about we get outta here for Christmas?"
"Okay," Victoria agreed, her hand gently stroking his neck.
Maybe leaving would help her feel better.
But why did it have to be Christmas again?
Thinking about last Christmas, she buried her face in his chest even more.
That bad feeling was crushing her.
Isabella was crashing at the house Timothy had bought, but she couldn't sleep.
Timothy woke up and asked, "Why aren't you sleeping?"
"I can't sleep," Isabella replied.
Timothy sighed, "Don't stir up trouble. She might seem alone, but the whole Harrington family has her back. If you hurt her, you're messing with the Harrington family, and you're done for."
"But I still have you, right?" Isabella looked at him with hopeful eyes.
"I won't go against Alexander for you," Timothy said firmly.
Isabella moved closer, sitting on the edge of the bed, looking serious, "Like you said, if Alexander really loves Victoria, he'll be wrecked if she dies, and the Harrington Group will be in trouble. Then, who in Ankenra City can stand up to you?"
Timothy sneered, "Isabella, I know what you're like. You're too stubborn, too obsessed. If Victoria really dies, we're done."
"What do you mean?" Isabella asked.
"I don't believe a word you just said," Timothy said coldly.
Isabella looked at him, confused.
Timothy spoke again, "I'm over fifty. I've seen it all. Do you think I don't know I'm just your second choice 'cause you can't have Alexander? Do you think I don't get that you see me as a backup? Or that you just use sex to treat me like a tool?"
"How could you say that? How could I be so bold?" Isabella asked angrily.
"Isabella, you even dare to kill someone."
Timothy actually felt sorry for her. He was her first; she was bold and beautiful, and he was hooked back then.
But in the past two years, if Alexander hadn't stayed married to Victoria, she wouldn't have come back to him. He was sure of that.
"Don't think of me like that, Timothy." Isabella suddenly felt like he could see right through her. She didn't want to be this way. She wanted to be a simple, lovable girl, but no one gave her the chance.
She threw herself into Timothy's arms, murmuring, "I just want a normal marriage. I grew up with him, and none of the other girls caught his eye like I did. There shouldn't have been that accident with Victoria."
"I might be going abroad soon," Timothy sighed.
"Business trip?" Isabella shot back immediately.
"Yeah," Timothy said, looking at her but not adding anything else.
"Don't leave me, okay? I'll come to you as soon as I wrap things up here."
"Isabella, Molly will be with me. If you show up, won't she beat you again?"
"Do you really think she can take me? I've got bodyguards now," Isabella said, not giving Molly another chance to mess with her.
"I told you, her family's got serious power. Even I can't hurt her. Why do you keep poking the bear?" Timothy asked.
"She thinks she can boss you around just 'cause she's your wife. You know I can't stand her attitude."
Timothy shook his head and sighed. He figured it was time to end things for good.
Isabella was the woman he had been with the longest in recent years.
But she was getting more dangerous. His wife was right about one thing: even if not for himself, he had to think about his son.
At his age, he wasn't cut out for romance anymore.
Isabella had been a bright spot in his life, but it was time to let her go.
"Don't leave me, please," Isabella begged, looking up at him with those pitiful eyes.
"You'll have your own family someday. We have to part ways eventually."
"I don't want that. I just want you by my side," Isabella clung to him tighter.
For years, Timothy had given her a sense of security.
It was a kind of security and satisfaction her parents couldn't provide.
He always seemed to know what she needed, and she knew what he wanted.
They had always worked so perfectly together.
She didn't think Timothy was old and unattractive. Being with him made her feel at ease. She didn't know where to go after Timothy left. He was like her safe harbor.
"Okay, I'll stay by your side," Timothy agreed.
Isabella sighed in relief and held him tightly.
"But Isabella, can you let go of Victoria and Alexander?" Timothy asked again.
Isabella's heart turned cold. She looked up at him, questioning.
"You can't, can you?" Timothy asked again.
"Why do I have to choose? You know I've loved him since I was a kid."
"We all have to make choices," Timothy said calmly.
His calmness made Isabella restless, and she let go of him.
She got up, still in her robe, and walked out.
Timothy just sat there, letting her go.
Isabella stopped at the door but only looked upstairs.
No one could stop her. In this world, only one of her or Victoria could exist.
She wanted to make Christmas Victoria's nightmare and her death anniversary.
She wanted Victoria to die while everyone was celebrating.
No one would remember her death on a joyous day.
The woman who was hit and killed last Christmas was supposed to be Victoria.
Victoria had luckily escaped, but...
"Victoria, you should cherish your life. Why did you come back? If you come back, you can't blame me," Isabella murmured.
She turned back to get her bag, changed her clothes, and then resolutely left the house.
She was sure Timothy was just sulking. He didn't like that Alexander was always in her heart.
But he had a wife, so why expect her to be devoted only to him?
He always said Molly was too fierce but didn't divorce her, and that he didn't like that home, but he spent most of his time there and spent holidays with Molly and their precious son.
Isabella was totally ignored.
So, she had to fight for her own happiness, her own family. By then, even if Timothy didn't want to break up with her, he would have no choice. But the breakup had to be initiated by her.
