Chapter 539 His Adam's Apple Was Even Red

Alexander glanced at the door and whispered, "You were being followed."

Victoria stared at him, thinking he looked like the perfect male protagonist straight out of a comic book.

Her heart pounded fiercely, unsure if the pounding heart beats were hers or his.

She slowly calmed down and wanted to peek outside, but the door was tightly shut.

There was a knock on the door, followed by a strange male voice. "Is anyone there?"

Victoria's heart skipped a beat. 'Why would anyone follow me to a wedding?' she wondered.

Victoria was so covered up that it was hard for people to recognize her, unless it was someone very familiar with her, or someone who had been waiting for her at the hotel.

Dennis had mentioned Victoria had infringed on someone's interests, but she couldn't quite remember who it was.

Competing for roles was Dennis's business. He rarely spoke, and she rarely asked.

Alexander held her hand with one hand and locked the door with the other. "Come with me," he said.

Alexander led her out.

Victoria felt a bit light-headed, the warmth of his palm making her reluctant to let go.

It seemed many rooms in this church were connected, and he led her out from inside.

Victoria quietly pulled her hand away from his, curling her fingers and looking ahead.

Alexander's hand clenched silently. Looking at her flushed cheeks, he said in a low voice, "I asked Leander to wait for you at the back. You can leave from here."

Victoria's breathing was still a bit unsteady. Alexander walked so fast that she had to run to keep up.

"Thank you," Victoria said softly, but she still didn't plan to look up and meet his eyes.

Suddenly, Alexander raised his hand, and Victoria instinctively shrunk back to dodge.

"Don't move," he said in a deep voice.

Victoria stood there subconsciously, letting him remove her mask.

She felt that his voice was filled with an indescribable sadness.

'Why is Alexander sad? He seems to be living so happily,' she thought.

Victoria rarely tied her hair at the back of her head. She usually wore a low ponytail, which made her look more youthful, like a high school student.

"You even put on makeup," Alexander remarked.

Victoria was speechless.

Seeing that Victoria refused to look at him, Alexander felt frustrated and put her mask back on. "Go."

Victoria immediately left, thinking, 'Why was I being followed? I'm not anyone's girlfriend now, and I haven't stolen any man that other women have their eyes on.'

Finally, Victoria realized one thing: Stay away from men to stay safe.

Victoria walked out and saw Alexander's company driver, Leander.

Leander looked at her and asked, "Are you Ms. Kensington?"

Victoria took off her mask and hat and looked at Leander.

Leander said, "Just now, I thought someone was trying to run away from a wedding. No, that's not what I meant. Ms. Kensington, please get in the car. Mr. Harrington asked me to take you back to the set."

"Okay," Victoria agreed and didn't say much else.

But shortly after getting in the car, Leander couldn't help but ask, "Ms. Kensington, why did you run away from the wedding?"

What could Victoria say? Could she tell him she saw Alexander rolling around on their bed with Isabella?

Leander continued, "Do you know how heartbroken Mr. Harrington was after you left? We all had to walk on eggshells every day. My palms sweated every time I got a call from him."

Victoria leaned forward and politely interrupted, "Sorry, you might have mistaken me for someone else."

Leander glanced at the rearview mirror and said, "How could I mistake you for someone else? We've worked together for so long, and you didn't deny it when I called you Ms. Kensington just now. You even got in my car."

Victoria thought some things couldn't be explained right away.

She just felt a bit stifled and turned to look out the window, subconsciously picking at the first joint of her index finger.

She could still feel Alexander's warmth between her fingers, but that warmth didn't belong to her.

She quickly let go of her hand and just stared out the car window.

Olivia's wedding celebration continued into the night, but one person had already disappeared from the crowd.

Tessa found Benjamin in the crowd and asked, "Hey, have you seen my husband?"

Benjamin frowned. "Do you have to provoke me like this?"

"What did I do to provoke you? I..."

"Come with me." Benjamin pulled Tessa away from the crowd.

Meanwhile, the person who had long disappeared had already gone somewhere else.

Leander, after arriving at the destination, turned to Alexander. "Mr. Harrington, we're here."

"Got it," Alexander replied but didn't move.

Leander, unsure of what to do, went out to smoke a cigarette to refresh himself.

Alexander, however, sat in the car for a long time.

He pondered, 'I just need to get out and walk in. What am I hesitating about?'

The next day, Victoria and Adrian came out of the hotel and saw a black car parked at the entrance. They looked inside curiously.

Victoria felt inexplicably nervous and softly said to Adrian, "Let's go."

Adrian asked, "Whose car is parked here so early?"

"Ms. Kensington?" A voice from behind interrupted them.

When they turned around and saw Leander, Victoria's heart skipped a beat.

She thought, 'I guessed right. It's Alexander.'

Adrian frowned and looked towards the car.

Inside the car, Alexander woke up at the sound, rolled down the window, and quickly saw the two people standing outside.

He got out of the car and walked up to them. "Have you had breakfast?"

The three of them then went to a breakfast diner together.

The atmosphere became unusually awkward.

The entire diner was exceptionally quiet that morning, which was not usually the case.

Victoria and Adrian sat on one side, and Alexander, feeling stifled, asked, "Are you two filming together?"

Adrian explained, "Felicity is the lead actress in our film."

Alexander asked again, "Are you the lead actor?"

Adrian shrugged, confirming.

Alexander had no appetite, he took a sip of porridge, and then stopped talking.

The owner brought some pickled olives, and Victoria took a bit to taste. Adrian reminded her, "Don't eat too much of that. It will make your face puffy."

"Alright." Victoria quietly put it back.

"Give it to me. It's impolite to put back food you've taken," Alexander said as he handed a small plate to Victoria.

Both Victoria and Adrian were surprised.

Victoria felt it was inappropriate, but Alexander directly grabbed her hand to make her let go.

"Why are you here? Although Felicity looks a lot like Victoria, Felicity is Felicity. Alexander, you can't treat her as Victoria," Adrian reminded.

The moment Alexander appeared, Adrian felt a strong sense of crisis.

Just like last year when Alexander had returned to the city, the usually calm and cautious Victoria had also lost her rationality.

"Why so much talking over a meal?" Alexander asked, taking a bite of the pickled olive, and then started coughing.

Victoria's mind inexplicably flashed back to the last time Alexander had an allergic reaction to chili, and she looked at him nervously, unable to take her eyes off him.

Adrian instinctively said, "Are you okay? Can't you eat spicy food? Drink some porridge quickly."

Victoria turned to look at Adrian, realizing that with Adrian around, she didn't have to say much.

She suddenly remembered that Adrian rarely ate spicy food. Could he also have some kind of chili allergy?

She turned back to Alexander and saw his face was already very red. She couldn't pretend to be happy anymore and seriously asked him, "Are you having another..."

Alexander looked up at her and asked with difficulty, "Another what?"

Victoria felt that his voice was not right and immediately looked for Leander, who was busy eating fried chicken. She shouted, "Leander, bring the car over quickly."

"What's wrong?" Leander turned around with his mouth full of fried chicken, stunned.

Leander thought, 'Can't I finish my meal first?'

Victoria saw that Leander was still in a daze and noticed Alexander's face was getting worse. She quickly commanded, "Be quick."

Leander, although unsure of what was happening, saw Victoria's expression and quickly stuffed the meat into his mouth and ran outside.

Then Victoria said to Alexander, "Get up. You need to go to the hospital immediately."

Alexander managed to say, "Will you take me?"

His Adam's apple was red.

Adrian couldn't help but look at Victoria, feeling that Alexander was up to something again.

Victoria glanced at him, held back her anger, and ordered, "I'll take you there. Get up quickly."
