Chapter 753 She Actually Dared to Add Another Man as a Friend

"He's a really good guy, working in the ortho department at the best hospital in town. If you've been there for your back injury, you might've already met him," Melissa said, her tone softening.

Melissa sent the doctor's contact info to Victoria and only left after Victoria added him.

As soon as Melissa left, Eve couldn't help but ask Victoria, "Mrs. Harrington, you could've just said no."

"It's no big deal," Victoria replied nonchalantly. Her phone rang again, and she answered, "Mrs. Montague."

"I just don't get it. Adrian's a catch. What do you still see in Alexander?" Melissa questioned before hanging up, leaving Victoria staring at her phone with a helpless smile.

She knew Melissa would bring it up eventually.

After leaving Victoria's place, Melissa headed to a bar. In a private room, Arabella was already sipping on a drink.

Melissa shut the door behind her, tossed her bag on the sofa, sat next to Arabella, poured herself a drink, but didn't take a sip. Instead, she said gloomily, "I really don't get what's so special about Victoria that makes the two brothers fight over her."

"Come on, haven't we been there? Didn't we both like the same guy back in the day?" Arabella said, looking at her twin sister Melissa.

"I don't think I owe you anything," Melissa said, recalling the past.

"Of course, you don't owe me," Arabella replied.

In truth, Arabella always felt she owed Melissa. It was because of her that Melissa moved abroad.

Hearing this, Melissa turned to look at Arabella. Arabella put down her wine glass and said seriously, "Melissa, if you want to move back now, just do it."

"What about Adrian and Victoria?"

"They're not gonna happen. Victoria only sees Adrian as a friend."

"But Adrian's so miserable, Arabella. Can we just let them be together?"

"Let them be together? I can't agree with that," Arabella said, removing Melissa's hand and walking towards the window.

Melissa immediately got up and said, "Arabella, they should have the right to choose for themselves."

"They are making their own choices. Adrian likes Victoria, but Victoria likes Alexander, and she already has a daughter with Alexander. Melissa, I feel like I owe you, but I can't just control their lives."

Melissa asked, "Even if your son doesn't appreciate Victoria?"

Arabella sighed, "How could he not appreciate her? You only saw Victoria severely injured and going abroad, but you don't know the situation that made Alexander let her go."

She paused, looking out the window as if searching for the right words. "The doctor said she had no will to live; she was giving up on herself. In last year's kidnapping case, both of them were seriously hurt. They just have misunderstandings, not a lack of love."

Melissa got what Arabella was saying but still couldn't grasp the despair of that situation. She was just thinking about Adrian, who was now lying in a hospital bed, unable to eat or sleep well, with his mind full of Victoria. Adrian was so pitiful.

The sisters eventually parted with resentment in their hearts. Around ten o'clock, Arabella, still worried, went to Victoria's place. Just as her car arrived, another car pulled up.

Arabella told the driver, "Hold on a sec."

"Yes," the driver sat back.

Arabella glanced at the other car and couldn't help but mutter, "Looks like Alexander's car. When did he get a parking spot here?"

The driver didn't know and just looked outside. Seeing Alexander get out of the car, he was indeed surprised.

Alexander stood for a moment after getting out, then strode over to Arabella's car.

Arabella rolled down the window and, seeing Alexander's worn-out look, asked, "Did you spot me that easily?"

"Why are you here so late?" Alexander asked.

"Melissa might've come to see Victoria. I'm worried Victoria might overthink things."

"She's not that fragile," Alexander said after a brief pause.

"Of course, I know Victoria's tough, but Alexander, she's still young and might get the wrong idea."

"She won't." Alexander glanced up at the building. The light in Victoria's room was still on.

"Don't be so sure. You don't know what she's thinking," Arabella reminded him.

Alexander shoved his hands in his pockets. "It's cold. You should head back."

"While you're here, don't be so cold when you talk to her. Girls like guys who are gentle and sweet," Arabella suggested.

"I'm not in my twenties anymore," Alexander reminded her.

"Men are childish even at thirty, and you're no exception," Arabella shot back.

Alexander didn't think he was that childish, but he still said quietly, "Felix, take my mom home."

"Yes, Mr. Harrington," Felix responded immediately.

But Arabella clung to the window frame and said, "Alexander, remember my words, speak gently."

Alexander didn't respond, just waved and walked towards the building.

Arabella watched his tall figure, feeling both heartache and helplessness, and couldn't help but say to Felix, "He always thinks he can control everything, but feelings are different from business."

"Well, in my opinion, Mr. Harrington still cares deeply for Mrs. Victoria Harrington," said Felix.

"What good is caring if his words are as sharp as knives?" Arabella knew Alexander too well. She didn't know who Alexander took after, making such a mess of his feelings.

The car eventually left the community, and Alexander reached the upstairs. Although the door lock had recognized him, he held the door lock without entering.

His tall figure stood there, lighting a cigarette without any intention of going in. He stood at the door, smoking and thinking about Arabella saying Melissa had come to see Victoria.

What did Melissa come to see Victoria for?

Could she still want Victoria to accept Adrian?

He took another puff of his cigarette, recalling how Arabella used to cry because she missed Melissa, who was abroad, and then glanced at the door again.

Just then, Frank opened the door and, seeing Alexander, immediately straightened his back. "Mr. ..."

Alexander made a shushing gesture and signaled him to close the door. "Is she asleep?" he asked quietly.

"Not yet. She just finished breastfeeding Strawberry," Frank said very seriously.

"Did Victoria use the heating lamp?" Alexander asked again.

"Yes, Mrs. Harrington said it was good," Frank answered again.

Hearing that she said it was good, Alexander's expression relaxed a lot, and he quietly extinguished the cigarette with his fingers.

"Eve said Mrs. Melissa Montague introduced a male friend to Mrs. Victoria Harrington," Frank continued.

Alexander's just-relaxed expression immediately tensed up again.

"Mrs. Harrington added that person's account. It's said he's a doctor," Frank added in a low voice.

Alexander bent down and gently placed the unfinished cigarette against the wall, silently checking his watch. He wanted to wait until Victoria was asleep before going in. If he went in too early, she might kick him out.

As he stood there in the dim light, the thought of her adding another man's account gnawed at him. His jaw tightened involuntarily. How dare she?
