Chapter 416 Some People Can't Even Die
"No," Alexander said indifferently, barely acknowledging her. Instead, he instructed the two men beside him, "Get in touch with them immediately and confirm the date."
Edward and Benjamin nodded in agreement. For a small wedding, this place was actually quite suitable.
Victoria, noticing Isabella's displeasure, remained silent and said nothing further.
Isabella couldn't help but steal a few glances at Victoria. When Victoria headed to the restroom, Isabella followed her. While washing her hands, Isabella said, "You know he doesn't love you. This is all just a game to him."
"It doesn't matter. At least I have him, while some people can never have him, not even in death," Victoria said.
With that, Victoria left.
Isabella, seething with rage, slammed her hand heavily on the sink. Watching Victoria leave so proudly only infuriated her further.
To her, Victoria was an ill-mannered and foolish woman who had the audacity to claim she could never have him.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Isabella wondered, 'I would definitely have what I desire. It's just a matter of time.'
She knew Victoria would come to Regal Retreat.
She suspected that Alexander and Victoria had just been together. Alexander probably hadn't had enough of Victoria yet so that he would take her back to their residence.
Isabella thought, 'Victoria is just an ordinary woman. Soon, I will make Victoria pay.'
With this thought, Isabella felt a bit calmer.
She couldn't be hasty or impulsive. Everything was under control.
Her associate had already arrived, ready to act against Victoria at any moment.
Isabella went out again, but there was no sign of Victoria in the restaurant, and even Alexander was gone. She felt annoyed and asked, "Where's Alexander?"
"He went upstairs," William said lightly, then looked at Isabella. "Isabella, just wish them well."
"Do you think they are a good match, too?" Isabella asked him.
"I used to think you two were a good match, but after seeing Alexander with Victoria, I think they are quite fitting too," William said.
The key was, even he could tell that Alexander looked at Victoria differently than he looked at other women.
Over the years, Alexander had never shown that kind of concerned and passionate gaze towards Isabella.
Friends had often commented that Alexander viewed Isabella as just an ordinary friend.
Recently, William realized that it might indeed be the case.
Otherwise, why was he indifferent when Isabella was diagnosed with leukemia?
Initially, he had helped her, but later on, it seemed that Alexander had even rejected her.
"Do you think someone of her lower status can be a good match for him?" Isabella sneered, challenging him.
"Victoria is not of lower status. She comes from a highly educated and distinguished family. Honestly, I think she's a better match for Alexander than you are," Benjamin said.
"What?" Isabella was stunned.
"She may not be as assertive as you, but she possesses a determined ambition that shouldn't be underestimated," Edward added.
"So now, all of you think that Victoria and Alexander are a perfect match?" Isabella asked.
Isabella felt betrayed by the friends she had grown up with.
"Alexander is already planning to propose and has invited several of the most famous media outlets to cover it," Benjamin said.
Edward continued, "He plans to broadcast it live."
Isabella sank into a chair, tears welling up in her eyes. "Why? Even after all this, he still won't give me a chance? Aren't you supposed to be my best friends? Can't you help me?"
She burst into tears.
"We want to help, but when it comes to matters of the heart, there's nothing we can do," Edward said.
"So, I'm just supposed to lose him?" Isabella asked, her voice trembling with difficulty.
