Chapter 831 Like a Shadow
Alexander laughed out of anger but suppressed his fury and whispered, "Say that again?"
He wouldn't allow her to say such things again.
How could she think about leaving him countless times a day?
Was he that bad?
Victoria saw the barely contained rage in his eyes and didn't dare to provoke him further.
After work, on their way back to Metro House, neither of them spoke to each other.
When they got home, Eloise was already sitting on the couch in the living room watching a show, though she didn't seem very spirited.
Alexander went upstairs holding Strawberry as soon as he got back, and Victoria, seeing that he didn't want to talk to her, thought she should have discussed with him on the way home about not showing his displeasure at home.
She had obediently cooperated with him that day. Shouldn't he do the same for her?
"Victoria, come sit down. I have some fresh, big strawberries for you. They smell so good."
Eloise waved at Victoria.
"Okay, I'm coming, Grandma."
Victoria smiled and walked over.
Eloise immediately handed her strawberries to eat. "What's wrong with him again?"
"He was unhappy during a meeting today."
Victoria took a strawberry, bit into it, and then happily said, "Grandma, it tastes so good."
"Of course, the strawberries I buy are the best."
Seeing her enjoy the strawberries, Eloise didn't bother about Alexander's issues.
Arabella, sitting nearby, sighed inwardly.
She noticed a pattern between Victoria and Alexander. Whenever they argued, Alexander would remain silent, and Victoria would pretend nothing was wrong, saying he was upset about a meeting at work.
Alexander was the type to show his emotions on his face, while Victoria pretended everything was fine.
However, she had heard some rumors within the company and asked, "I heard from people at the company that I'm going to be a grandmother again?"
Victoria was stunned, forgetting to eat the half-bitten strawberry. She looked at Arabella for a few seconds before calmly smiling and saying, "It's just a rumor."
Arabella smiled, "Rumor or not, your body isn't suitable for a second child right now. You should take care of yourself."
"Okay."
Victoria agreed, albeit a bit slowly.
Everyone thought they were still having a sexual relationship.
She had marks on her neck every day, so the misunderstanding was understandable.
But this time, it probably wasn't because of the marks on her neck.
Later, when Victoria went upstairs, she heard someone in the room muttering to Strawberry, "Your mom says she wants to leave us countless times a day."
Strawberry didn't understand anything and just reached out to pinch Alexander's cheek.
Victoria couldn't help but walk in immediately, "Don't say such things to Strawberry."
"Am I making it up? Didn't you say you wanted to leave countless times?"
"I said I wanted to leave you, not Strawberry."
Victoria was almost at a loss for words.
Alexander, hearing this, said, "Leaving me is the same as leaving her. Besides, didn't you already sign the agreement to give up custody of her?"
Victoria thought Alexander was childish.
"You haven't received the agreement to give up custody yet?"
"What do you mean?"
Alexander's heart sank.
"I never signed it."
Alexander, holding Strawberry, looked at her dumbfounded.
Strawberry, seeing Victoria, clapped her hands happily, wanting to go to her.
Victoria walked over, bent down reluctantly, and took Strawberry from his arms.
Alexander still stared at Victoria, only snapping out of it when she reached the door. He caught up with her, "Are you saying you didn't sign the agreement to give up custody of Strawberry?"
"Of course."
Victoria said as she was about to leave.
Alexander quickly blocked the door and looked straight at her, "But Frank called and said you signed it."
"You think Frank only listens to you?"
Alexander suddenly didn't know whether to be angry or pleased.
Angry that Frank lied to him.
Pleased that Victoria couldn't leave him and Strawberry.
He almost thought she didn't want Strawberry either, and then he would have been truly helpless.
Alexander still blocked the door, but his expression became increasingly amusing.
Childishly amusing.
"Don't tell Strawberry that I want to leave you two. I..."
"Okay!"
"What?"
"I won't say it again."
Alexander didn't look at her, but the joy in his eyes was unmistakable.
After a while, Victoria seriously reminded him, "Alexander, I won't leave Strawberry, but I will..."
"I have something to do, gotta go."
Before she could finish, Alexander turned and left quickly.
Victoria took a few steps, speechless, as she watched him walk away.
He had long legs and walked fast, and since they were in Metro House, she couldn't shout outside their room.
Victoria sighed in frustration. She had expressed her intention to separate from him clearly and many times.
But how could he still be overthinking again?
In the dining room.
The family was happily having dinner, and everyone had a few sips of wine.
Until Erica came over with Alexander's phone, "Mr. Harrington, you have a call."
Alexander didn't think much of it, but as soon as he took the phone, he frowned.
No one thought much of it at first, but when he didn't answer for a while and looked displeased, Maximus said, "Answer the call."
Alexander's expression remained annoyed, and he said lightly, "It's a spam call."
Brett and Eloise looked at Alexander, not believing it was a spam call.
Arabella wondered if it was a woman.
Arabella instinctively looked at Victoria, who was quietly eating her dinner, so it was likely a woman.
"Block the spam call," Arabella said.
Alexander didn't react much, but just as he was about to pick up his cutlery, his phone buzzed again.
This time, it was a text message.
[Mr. Harrington, I was afraid the call would disturb you, so I sent a text instead. No need to reply. I just wanted to ask, how's the belt?]
Alexander pressed his tongue against his molars and suddenly looked at Victoria.
Then he placed the phone in front of Victoria and said, "She sent a text."
Victoria reflexively glanced up, then quietly moved the phone back to his side.
Alexander was a bit angry, but when he looked at her again, he heard her softly say, "Let's eat first."
Arabella admired Victoria's calmness and continued eating.
Since Victoria had spoken, everyone focused on their meal.
Later, Brett and Maximus started discussing some important matters. After dinner, Victoria went to wash her hands. She had only been gone a few seconds when everyone saw Alexander following her like a shadow.
