Chapter 764 Only After Experiencing Pain Can One Easily Regain Focus

Looking at the suddenly appearing Alexander, Victoria thought, 'If it weren't for the memories of the past, I might just fall for him all over again. Only after going through pain can you easily pull back in time.'

She snapped back to reality, turned around, pulled out a chair, and sat down, speaking softly, "Why are you back again?"

"Ms. Bryant left, so I figured I'd come back and finish the breakfast I made," Alexander said as he sat down across from her.

Victoria instinctively wanted to look at him but held back, lowering her head and silently sipping her porridge.

Alexander continued with a gentle smile, "Does it taste good? I added some almonds."

Victoria couldn't help but carefully savor the porridge in her mouth, but she couldn't taste the almonds he mentioned at all.

"Seems pretty good," Alexander said, a note of pride in his voice. "I added extra sugar to mask the bitterness of the almonds."

Victoria looked at him seriously but still didn't say anything.

Suddenly, her phone rang. She took it out of her pocket, saw the number, instinctively glanced at Alexander, and then stood up while answering, "Please wait a moment."

Alexander immediately squinted his eyes, watching her hurriedly leave. It must be Samuel, he thought, feeling a surge of frustration. Samuel really overestimated himself. But thinking of the photo Edward took, Alexander felt his appetite vanish completely.

He lowered his head, trying hard to suppress his emotions, but his gaze fell on his fingers, reminding him of the moment he had placed them on her lips. He quickly raised his head, silently clenching his molars.

He was really going crazy. What if she got infatuated with Samuel, even for a moment? Alexander was confident that she only loved him, but he feared she might get momentarily bewitched and develop feelings for another man.

Victoria was driving him crazy.

When Victoria finished her call and came out, she felt a cold glare directed at her but just picked up her spoon and continued silently drinking her porridge.

"Samuel?" Alexander had to take the initiative to ask, very arrogantly and domineeringly.

"Yes," Victoria replied softly, continuing to eat.

Alexander said with a sneer, "You're really something."

Victoria still didn't look up; she could picture his expression even with her head lowered.

But after thinking for a moment, she couldn't help but ask him, "What exactly are you dissatisfied with? We're divorced. You let other women dine with you, sit on your lap, and probably do more intimate things when I'm not around.

"Why do you mock me just for going on a blind date? Are you so domineering, arrogant, and insensitive? Do you need all the women in the world to love you?"

"I don't need all the women in the world," Alexander immediately retorted.

"Of course, you don't," Victoria said, standing up. "You're just possessive." Anyway, she was full.

"Is this your attitude towards the person who made you breakfast?"

"Your cooking is terrible." Victoria was already out the door when she heard this and turned back to comment.

Alexander sat there, full of anger but unable to vent. It was terrible? He felt hurt. He had gotten up early to make her breakfast, and she said it was terrible.

As Victoria walked away, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and felt a bit pressured, but still answered, "Hello, Mom."

"Victoria, why don't you both come back today? We prepared a Welcome Baby Party dress for Strawberry. You can come and see which one fits. And the company is on holiday, so it's a good time for a family gathering, isn't it?" Arabella said.

"Hurry back. Your grandpa is waiting for you to paint with him," Eloise chimed in just as Arabella finished speaking.

Victoria sat on the edge of the bed, speaking softly, "Mom, I have some other things to do today."

She knew what they wanted, but going to the Harrington Family made her feel pressured.

Being loved was great, but she and Alexander were divorced. The elders shouldn't still see them as a couple, but it seemed the elders never intended to change their minds.

"Other things? It's a holiday. What can't wait until after Christmas?" Arabella gestured for Eloise to be quiet, then patiently asked her.

"Mom, tonight..."

Arabella sensed Victoria's hesitation and naturally had a strategy to deal with her. "Victoria, if you don't come to Strawberry's Welcome Baby Party, what will people think? We've invited hundreds, including famous journalists."

Victoria's hand on her lap picked at her pants, not knowing what to say.

Arabella knew she couldn't say anything hurtful, so she spoke kindly again, "No matter what, Strawberry is your child. This is the first party our family is hosting for her. If you're not there, how sad and regretful will she be when she sees the video in the future, don't you think?"

"Okay," Victoria agreed softly.

"Isn't Alexander with you? Bring Strawberry back together later. Dad, Grandpa, and Grandma are all waiting for you at home, okay?"

"Okay," Victoria agreed again, unconsciously raising her hand to her lips. Feeling a slight sting, she quickly let go.

After Arabella hung up, she gently put down her phone as well.

Inside the Harrington Family Old Mansion.

"Is she coming back?"

"She agreed." Arabella, feeling like she had won a battle, tried hard to suppress her pride.

She was confident in getting Victoria back, not just today.

Eloise also breathed a sigh of relief but couldn't help saying, "It's good she agreed to come back, but Victoria is determined to leave our family."

"Mom, if we try a bit harder, we might change their minds. Maybe she won't just stay but will also give you another great-grandchild," Arabella said optimistically.

Eloise couldn't help but smile at the thought of a great-grandchild. "Do you think I'll be around to see that?"

"Mom, you and Dad will not only see your great-grandchild but also see them get married and have kids of their own," Maximus couldn't stand Eloise thinking that way and immediately reassured her.

"Are you treating me like some kind of immortal monster? Having an elder at home is a treasure, but I don't need to live forever,," Eloise joked.

Brett brought up the main issue. "The important thing now is how to keep Victoria from going back to Elysium Country before Christmas."

The living room suddenly fell silent. Arabella couldn't help but mutter, "I really don't know what she's thinking. Isn't it good for the whole family to be together? Does she not even want Strawberry?"

"How could she not? That's the baby she risked her life to have," Maximus said.

"But I feel like she's becoming more distant. She used to agree with everything I said. Now, she's always making excuses," Arabella said, unconsciously sighing. She felt Victoria had changed.

"It's all because of Isabella that there's a rift between them as a couple. How infuriating!" Eloise immediately thought of Isabella upon hearing Arabella's words.

Brett pondered aloud, "I think we should pressure her less. Otherwise, what will our family become?"

"If we ease up, she'll want to go back to Elysium Country right away," Arabella argued. She felt Victoria needed to be pressured to stay.

"Your son keeps using Strawberry to keep her here. How can she go back to Elysium Country?" Brett questioned again.

"Stop arguing. Let's see what Alexander plans to do at the party tonight," Maximus interjected.
