Chapter 912 She Doesn't Dare Anymore
"Looks like you had a kid with Alexander."Diana later sat next to Victoria and mumbled.
"Strawberry is a child Alexander and I had together, you can't say it was for one person."
Victoria gently corrected.
"Maybe, I wonder how Alexander is doing."
Thinking of Alexander made Diana nervous.
Victoria silently gazed at the moonlight outside the window and thought, 'Alright, how is he doing?'
For three consecutive days, the gossip news became increasingly outrageous, saying that if Alexander died, it would be because of his promiscuity.
Olivia and Edward came to the hospital, and Olivia quietly asked Victoria, "Should we try to suppress the news?"
"No need."
Victoria pondered for a moment.
No one in the Harrington family cared about such trivial rumors; everyone was focused on Alexander.
"But he's Strawberry's dad. This kind of news isn't good for Strawberry either." Olivia added.
Victoria merely offered a faint smile and said, "Engaging in that now would only be a waste of energy and time."
Victoria just hoped Alexander would wake up.
Whether Alexander had an affair with Daisy was of no consequence.
They were already separated.
She had planned never to see Alexander again.
She was here now because the elders needed her, and she was here for Strawberry.
"I think we should handle it. Otherwise, these people might start talking nonsense, and what if it affects Strawberry in a few days? And grandparents already have high blood pressure; we should suppress the news." Diana suggested to the two of them.
"I think Diana makes sense." Olivia chimed in, looking at Victoria.
"Let's do that then."
Victoria didn't object.
After all, it was just a matter of making a few phone calls.
"I'll handle it. But even though you're here, you need to take care of yourself."
Olivia reminded Victoria.
Victoria nodded, "Call the CEO of Starlight Media and tell him I'm tied up right now, and ask him to handle it."
"Okay, I'll go now. But seriously, take care of yourself, your back..."
"Olivia, just go. I'll take care of Victoria."
Diana urged Olivia.
Even Edward was a bit surprised, but Olivia and Edward quickly left.
They just needed Victoria's approval; they could handle it themselves.
After they left, Diana asked Victoria, "I heard your back isn't well. Did Isabella hurt you when you saved Grandmother?"
Victoria just gave a faint smile.
She didn't want to talk about the past.
"Is that scar also from Isabella?" Diana continued.
"Aren't you tired?"
"What?"
Victoria changed the subject, and Diana hadn't caught on.
"My back hurts a bit, I want to rest for a while."
Victoria suddenly said.
"Alright, go ahead."
Diana became nervous.
Alexander had mentioned before that Victoria's back injury was severe.
Victoria quickly returned to the lounge, closed the door, and finally found some peace.
She wasn't annoyed with Diana; she simply preferred not to engage in conversation.
Her eyes became moist again.
She leaned against the door, her breath warm.
When would Alexander wake up?
She always told him not to talk nonsense, but he didn't take it seriously. It was indeed occurring at this moment.
Some things shouldn't be said carelessly.
Victoria became more convinced of this, thinking that when Alexander woke up, she would make sure he watched his words and never said such self-cursing things again.
But when would he wake up?
At that moment, all the fierce images of the two seemed to be forgotten by her. Her mind was filled with just one thing: him waking up.
Victoria walked to the edge of the bed and sat down.
"Victoria! Alexander is awake."
Victoria quickly stood up, her back feeling like it was about to split, but she ran out in pain.
Alexander woke up.
Ursa was outside, and upon hearing that Alexander had woken up, she became extremely excited.
If Alexander woke up, then Daisy...
Diana quickly called Arabella, Brett, and Eloise. After informing everyone in the family as quickly as possible, Diana stayed at the hospital with Victoria.
Two days later, Alexander finally left the ICU.
Victoria and Diana followed along the entire way, but Victoria never got a clear look at Alexander's pale and haggard face.
When they reached the ward, Victoria suddenly stopped.
Diana turned around, "Victoria? Are you coming in?"
"No."
Victoria stood there for a long time, lost in thought.
Why should she go in?
She couldn't go in.
They were never going to contact each other again.
She didn't want him, and she didn't love him anymore.
After making up her mind, she turned and walked away.
Diana instinctively grabbed Victoria, "You stayed here for so long, and now you're just leaving?"
"I was here for Strawberry, to watch over Alexander."
Victoria tried to push Diana away.
But Diana simply hugged Victoria and forcibly brought her into the ward.
"You're not here for Strawberry; you're here for your husband, your man."
Diana brought Victoria to the bedside.
After the doctor gave some instructions and left, Victoria didn't dare to look at Alexander.
Due to the medication, Alexander had fallen asleep again.
Diana pressed Victoria to sit by the bed, "You can't leave. Do you remember the last time you were in this ward? You told me yourself that you didn't want to leave."
Victoria didn't move; she was a bit tired.
She had indeed said those words, but it was also true that Alexander had let her go.
Regardless of the reasons, letting go was simply letting go, and an ending was merely an ending.
She was afraid of staying here any longer.
"I won't let you leave before Alexander wakes up. I'm here to watch you, not Alexander." Diana reiterated stubbornly.
Victoria was stunned but didn't say anything.
Diana used to dislike her and always wanted her to leave Alexander, but now she was suddenly asking her to stay.
Victoria didn't dwell on this for long because she was worried about something else.
The doctor said Alexander had a concussion, which is why he woke up late.
She was afraid of seeing him again and didn't know how to react.
Or she just didn't dare to stay here.
On the surface, she appeared composed, but inside, she was a whirlwind of emotions.
Soon, Arabella and Eloise arrived.
Eloise looked at Alexander and then sat by his bed, holding Victoria's hand, "Victoria, it's good that you're back. With you here, I feel at ease."
"Grandma, the doctor said he's out of danger."
"I know, but he must be thinking of you. Victoria, thank you for coming back right away and for staying here."
Eloise looked up at Victoria with tearful eyes, thanking her.
Victoria didn't know how to respond.
She felt a strong urge to leave, but with Eloise present, expressing that desire became complicated.
She thought she might sneak away at some point.
She didn't know how much time had passed, but eventually, it was just her and Diana in the ward again. As she sat by the bed, feeling drowsy, she suddenly felt warmth in her hand. She looked down.
