Chapter 869 Too Much Regret is Irresponsible to Your Marriage
Alexander finished Diana's call and continued to lie quietly in front of Strawberry.
As long as Strawberry was there, nothing else mattered.
Fortunately, Strawberry only had a mild fever today, which brought it down quickly. Otherwise, he would make Victoria pay for it.
As for what happened at the hospital, he didn't care.
Now was the best time for Victoria to escape if she was smart.
Victoria had called him several times today. Diana probably told her about Strawberry's fever, but then he blocked Victoria.
There was a certain thrill in taking the lead.
At the hospital, Arabella stood in the ward, looking at the drowsy Victoria on the bed, and her eyes finally reddened.
Arabella hadn't expected to find out like this.
The kids had grown up and become very rebellious, and she couldn't control them anymore.
But to see Victoria end up like this... it was heartbreak.
Arabella quickly left, whispering, "Don't tell Victoria I was here."
The two bodyguards nodded without saying a word.
Arabella got into the car and immediately called Eve. Eve seemed to have been waiting for this call and answered quickly, "Mrs. Arabella Harrington."
"You and Frank go and replace those two."
"Okay, but Mrs. Arabella Harrington, this is Mr. Harrington's decision."
Eve hesitated to say the latter part.
"Right now, you only need to listen to me. I am the one in charge of the Harrington family."
Arabella quickly hung up the phone.
But Eve felt relieved.
Eve had been waiting for Arabella's first sentence.
As for the latter part, it was just to give her and Frank a reason to avoid blame.
Eve and Frank guessed that with Diana's temperament, it wouldn't be long before Arabella heard about it.
So they had been waiting and were staying in a small hotel next to the hospital.
After Eve finished the call, Frank, who was staring at the ceiling on the opposite bed, immediately sat up, "Shall we go?"
"Okay."
Frank and Eve quickly put on their coats and headed to the hospital.
Replacing those two wasn't too difficult. After all, Frank was the leader of the bodyguard team and had Arabella's instructions.
Frank gave Eve some instructions, and the next morning, Eve heard movement from the hospital bed and got up from the sofa.
Victoria, hearing the noise, looked up. When she saw Eve, her eyes welled up, and her voice was hoarse, "Why are you here?"
"Mrs. Arabella Harrington knows about this. Do you need to use the bathroom?"
"Yes."
Victoria felt dizzy, and Eve helped her up.
After she went to the bathroom, Eve immediately went back to pour her some water. Her voice sounded very uncomfortable, probably due to dehydration.
But Eve didn't expect Victoria to have a high fever.
As Victoria drank the water, she kept sweating, and her complexion grew increasingly pale.
Eve immediately felt her forehead and then pressed the call button.
"What's wrong? It's not time for rounds yet." Victoria reminded her.
"You have a fever. Lie down first." Eve said softly.
Eve thought Alexander had been too harsh yesterday.
How could he have people treat Victoria so roughly?
Wasn't Victoria the woman he loved the most, the only one he had ever loved?
If men were so heartless, claiming to love to death when they did, even willing to give their lives, yet treating one another so callously when that love faded.
No wonder Victoria didn't dare to want such a relationship.
Eve once believed Alexander was different, but the moment those two people pinned Victoria to the ground, Eve no longer thought so.
These powerful people were indeed ruthless.
Alexander had no hint of tenderness in him.
Alexander only needed to bring Victoria and Strawberry back; he didn't have to be so heartless.
Victoria had a fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit, lying in bed, undergoing several tests, and then was given some antipyretics.
"Mrs. Harrington's fever is probably caused by the fall. You should come by a few more times to monitor the situation," the deputy director said after examining Victoria with a few doctors.
In less than half an hour, Victoria's temperature rose from 101 degrees Fahrenheit to 103 degrees Fahrenheit.
Eve was worried and couldn't help but ask Frank, "Should we notify Mr. Harrington?"
"I've already informed him," Frank replied.
Eve looked at Frank, waiting for him to continue.
"Mr. Harrington said he knows," Frank added.
Eve and Frank stood at the door, and suddenly, tears welled up in her eyes.
"Why is Mr. Harrington so heartless?"
"Mrs. Harrington tried to escape; he must have been deeply hurt," Frank said.
Eve was too upset to speak.
She didn't think Alexander was the one to feel wronged.
Victoria had her faults, but why did she end up like this?
Only Victoria fully understood the depths of her suffering.
Victoria wanted to escape because Alexander couldn't handle things properly.
If a man can make a woman feel secure, she wouldn't leave.
So why should men only blame women?
At noon, Arabella brought lunch with some people.
Victoria was in a deep sleep.
Arabella had the food set down and asked Eve outside the door, "Didn't you call Alexander?"
Eve lowered her head, "I did."
"What is Alexander up to now?" Arabella couldn't help but speculate.
No matter how angry Alexander was, he should be by Victoria's side at a time like this.
Alexander wasn't planning to live without Victoria, was he?
Arabella thought for a moment and then asked, "Do you know where Alexander is now?"
"He should be at Regal Retreat," Frank said.
Arabella quickly left after hearing this.
But when Arabella arrived at Regal Retreat, she saw cartoons playing and a dejected Alexander with Strawberry.
Strawberry was quietly nestled in his arms.
Arabella walked up to him.
"I told you, you don't deserve to see Strawberry anymore," Alexander said, staring at the cartoons on the TV but speaking the most heartless words.
"If you're here, she won't be able to see Strawberry even if she wants to," Arabella said as she walked over to Alexander and picked up Strawberry from the couch.
Alexander looked up and saw it was Arabella, but he immediately sank back into the couch in silence.
"Victoria has her faults, but Alexander, have you forgotten how miserable you were when she was in Elysium Country?" Arabella questioned him, holding Strawberry and looking down at him.
"Or do you not want her anymore? If so, give her a clean break, and give me, your father, and your grandparents a clean break, too. If you're willing to divorce, we'd be happy to see you two separate," Arabella said bluntly, but Alexander remained silent.
"But if you can't let go of Victoria, then go to the hospital to take care of her properly," Arabella said, feeling an urge to slap him.
But how could she bear to slap him?
"Your grandparents don't know about this yet. If they did, especially your grandfather with his temper, you'd get a beating. Didn't you say you regretted letting Victoria go, regretted not taking care of her when she needed it most? Now she's injured and has a high fever, and you're having others do the caring for her? You'd better stop making yourself regret. If you regret too much, it just means you're useless and irresponsible for your marriage," Arabella said, then walked towards the door with Strawberry. She paused and added, "Until you sort things out between you two, don't come to see Strawberry."
The moment Strawberry realized they were going out, she was thrilled.
Alexander, however, remained motionless. Why should he take care of Victoria?
He wouldn't go, absolutely wouldn't go.
