Chapter 61 Shared a Cup of Coffee Together
"Mr. Harrington is inside," Victoria said with a smile spread across her face.
At this moment, she was the secretary, while Isabella was perceived by outsiders as his girlfriend and fiancée.
What could she say?
"Thank you," Isabella said, lifting the coffee she held in her hand. "You've worked hard. I brought you both coffee. It's delicious; make sure to drink it while it's hot."
Isabella placed the coffee on her desk.
Victoria smiled helplessly, looking quite grateful.
"Thank you, Miss Montgomery," Jasmine stopped typing and quickly looked up to thank her.
"You're welcome. I know working for Alex must be tiring," Isabella then nodded and headed to Alexander’s office.
Jasmine couldn't help but glance at Victoria as she whispered softly, "The boss' lady sure knows how to butter people up, but do we really have to drink this?"
"Of course, she said we've worked hard, didn't she?" Victoria smiled, opened one for herself, and took a big sip.
Hmm, it was just the right temperature, not too hot, not too cold.
It was very sweet too, a bit too sweet actually.
The sweetness seemed to even sting her eyes; everything was a bit blurry now.
Alexander heard the door and thought it was his expected guest, but instead saw Isabella. He couldn't help but ask her in confusion, "Nothing to do today?"
"You are my business, oh, and I also bought two cups of coffee for Victoria and Jasmine, as a way to show my sincerity," Isabella didn't forget to mention her generous act.
Alexander didn't say anything and just dialed Victoria's number, "Come in and bring the coffee Miss Montgomery brought."
Isabella was puzzled.
But Victoria and Jasmine were even more puzzled.
They had almost finished their coffee.
Coffee, of course, was best enjoyed in one go.
But...
She still went in, but could only bring her own cup.
"Mr. Harrington, would you like some coffee?"
"Yes, bring it over."
"We've already started drinking them though."
"Did I stutter?"
While Alexander focused on the documents on the table, he reached out to Victoria.
Victoria handed her coffee to him, still quite puzzled.
Alexander took a sip, realizing it was from the café next to their company. He frowned, "So sweet? Can you handle this?"
"It's fine."
She said it lightly, out of habit.
Isabella looked on in surprise as he drank from the cup Victoria had already sipped from.
She became a bit confused, and her mind flung itself into turmoil. Two words kept popping into her brain, “Indirect kiss.”
He was obsessed with cleanliness, so how could he accept coffee that someone else had already drunk?
Alexander could only smile helplessly, "You can go out now."
"Oh."
Victoria was still puzzled, but she knew she was not in a place to ask questions.
He seemed very busy.
Soon, Jasmine knocked on the door, "Mr. Harrington, Mr. Berke is here."
"Let him come in."
Alexander closed the file, looked up, and stood up.
"Mr. Harrington, how have you been? Oh dear, it seems I've arrived at an inopportune time."
In the room were two women, who were both stunning.
Mr. Berke knew that the one who was dressed professionally was Alexander's secretary. After a quick glance at Isabella, he could also guess who she was to Alexander.
"How could that be? You've met Miss Kensington and this is my friend, Isabella," Alexander looked towards Isabella and quickly responded.
"A friend? Not a girlfriend, then? I heard you were seen with a Miss Montgomery abroad for a prenatal check-up; is something good on the horizon?" Mr. Berke, similar in age to Alexander, was quite the gossip.
Upon hearing this, Alexander withdrew his hand from Mr. Berke's grip, and replied with a slight smile, "Friends..."
Isabella interrupted them and introduced herself, "Is this Mr. Berke, the new CEO of Berke Enterprises? Hello, I'm Isabella," she said, extending her hand to shake Mr. Berke's.
Alexander's dark eyes glanced at Victoria, who seemed indifferent, as if nothing going on concerned her.
"I'll go make coffee for the three of you," Victoria said before leaving.
"Victoria, I prefer my coffee with more sugar," Mr. Berke chimed in.
"Of course, Mr. Berke," Victoria replied and swiftly exited.
"Mr. Berke, you seem quite familiar with our Victoria," Isabella remarked.
"She's a peculiar young lady, but to be able to secure the position of Chief Secretary at Harrington Company at such a young age, she must have exceptional qualities," Mr. Berke didn't underestimate anyone; he believed everyone had their own merits.
"Don't you know, Mr. Berke, that Victoria is Mr. Harrington's sis..."
