Chapter 524 Shattered Dreams

Victoria gazed at the beautiful words and the bouquet of red roses, thinking, 'Even if the world is full of thorns, we should still find our happiness. And Alexander is my happiness.'

It was pouring rain in the next night, and the building suddenly lost power.

Victoria was stuck in the elevator with no signal for almost two hours.

Olivia texted: [I heard the power's out in your building?]

Victoria replied: [Yeah.]

When Victoria finally got home, the once fresh and cozy place was now filled with a scent that made her heart race.

Her wedding dress was on the stairs.

Victoria walked over, bent down to pick it up, and noticed a familiar perfume scent.

It belonged to another woman.

Holding the dress, she went upstairs, puzzled.

She thought, 'Did Isabella come over? Did she try on my wedding dress?'

"Alexander, wear a condom," Isabella's voice came from the room.

"Take it off," a man's voice, sounding like Alexander, replied.

"Alexander, please. This will get me pregnant."

"Alexander, if I get pregnant this time, the baby will definitely be yours. What about Victoria?"

"Do you really care about Victoria that much?"

"I would go to hell for you."

"Then go to hell."

The woman was flipped over and pinned to the bed, her hands held down. Victoria couldn't watch or listen anymore.

The wedding dress in her arms fell to the ground, and she struggled to take a step.

The woman's screams continued from inside, and Victoria gradually couldn't feel her heartbeat.

When she reached the door, she accidentally kicked something and looked down.

It took her a long time to see that it was a box of condoms.

Was it really just a dream?

The following morning, the dock teemed with affluent businessmen and celebrities eager to witness the ceremony, yet they were barred from boarding the ship.

Last night, a girl was hit by a car outside the community, her face crushed beyond recognition, type A blood, long hair. Her coat and a blood-stained ring were left on the ground.

The wedding ultimately didn't happen.

Another woman was hospitalized in a deep coma after being hit on the head.

Soon after, people around Alexander began to offer their condolences.

Not long after, police officers came to urge Alexander to cancel Victoria's identity.

Then time seemed to become unreal.

Victoria was indeed nowhere to be found.

By August of the following year, everything seemed to return to the way it was.

Alexander hung out with Benjamin and Edward, but whenever a woman tried to get close, he would smile in a way that was very frightening.

Even Benjamin and Edward didn't dare to mention Victoria in front of him.

Benjamin asked Edward, "When are you getting married?"

Edward took a sip of his drink and said, "We're picking a date, but I don't want to delay it too long. The sooner, the better."

Benjamin noticed that Edward had only been sipping his drinks lately and didn't linger as he used to, so he knew where his time was going. He glanced at Alexander, only to see him staring at Edward, suddenly having a bad premonition.

Benjamin thought, 'Does Alexander think of killing Edward because he heard that delaying would cause trouble?'

Alexander suddenly said, "You're right. If you're going to do something, do it quickly."

His expression was calm, which surprised Edward and Benjamin.

They were both stunned.

Alexander never mentioned what exactly happened back then, and no one knew except himself.

"Are you okay?" Edward asked Alexander worriedly, afraid he might be suicidal.

"Do I look terrible?" Alexander had a smile on his lips, but his eyes were incredibly sharp.

Edward and Benjamin didn't dare to say more, but Alexander leaned over and picked up his drink.

After that incident, Alexander became even colder.

He was always on the edge, ready to snap and curse mercilessly.

No one in the office dared to look at him, and Janaye, his new secretary, did a decent job.

But because of that, he became even harsher.

Janaye mentioned that Victoria had taught her before.

'Victoria...' Alexander thought, then downed his drink in one gulp.

"If you know any suitable girls, introduce them to me," Alexander suddenly said.

The entire private room fell silent.

Edward and Benjamin didn't dare to breathe, thinking, 'Alexander wants a girl? Wouldn't he hate women by now and want to kill them?'

"By the way, no girls with big eyes. They're all schemers," Alexander added.

Benjamin and Edward couldn't figure out if he was talking about Isabella or Victoria.

Seeing them both silent, Alexander asked, "What? Do you want me to be single for life?"

Edward asked, "Make it clear first. Do you want to kill someone or go on a blind date?"

Alexander laughed. "Kill someone? Are you crazy?"

Alexander looked at Edward, questioning his intelligence.

"If you really want a blind date, I do have a candidate," Benjamin suddenly said.

Alexander asked, "Who?"

"Tessa Hughes from the Hughes Family. She just got back a few days ago."

"What?" Edward immediately expressed his doubt.

Benjamin frowned at Edward, then looked at Alexander.

"Okay. It's her," Alexander immediately agreed.

"What?" Edward looked at Alexander again, unable to accept this chaotic relationship.

He thought, 'Wasn't that woman...'

However, Benjamin and Alexander looked at him like he was an idiot, making him afraid to object.

Later, Olivia came to pick up Edward, and seeing Alexander there, she got out of the car.

"Mr. Harrington, I want to talk to you," Olivia said to Alexander.

"About what?" Alexander asked, instinctively glancing at Edward.

He thought, 'I have nothing to talk about with my friend's woman.'

Olivia asked, "Don't you want to know how much Victoria loved you before?"

Alexander's eyes immediately turned gloomy.

Olivia hadn't seen Alexander for a long time since he moved out of Regal Retreat.

Later, in a secluded corner, Olivia said, "Victoria was with me the whole time before she went back that night. I don't know what happened that made her... But Alexander, she was already preparing for pregnancy."

Alexander looked at Olivia skeptically.

Olivia continued, "I noticed Victoria hadn't been drinking for a long time. I asked her why, and she mentioned Eloise warned her against drinking while trying to get pregnant.."

Alexander looked at her, unable to say a word.

Olivia couldn't help but burst into tears.

Victoria had been quietly preparing for pregnancy, but she suddenly had an accident the night before the wedding.

There must be something fishy about this.

However, Alexander never mentioned a word.

Even when the media released photos of Isabella donning Victoria's wedding dress the day after Victoria's accident.

Speculations ran wild that Alexander had a last-minute change of heart before the wedding and desired to marry Isabella instead.

"Don't talk to me about Victoria anymore," Alexander said, turning to leave.

Olivia stood there, unable to help but shout, "Did you ever love Victoria?"

Alexander paused for a moment but quickly walked away.

The longer it went on, the more he began to hate Victoria who suddenly left before the wedding.

Whether she was alive or dead made no difference.

If she didn't want to get married, she could have just said so.

There was no need to make it like that.

No need...

She wasn't even dead yet.

Alexander thought, 'Don't let me find Victoria, or I will definitely not spare her.'
