Chapter 29 Take Your Hands Off

"Okay," Alexander agreed with a smile.
Victoria, who was standing behind them, just happened to catch a glimpse of his smile. It was... captivating. His smile was such that it could bewitch anyone. However, he only smiled like that, with such endless indulgence, for Isabella. So, she quickly averted her eyes.
People should know their place. If he didn't love her, there was no need to worry about him. Whether it was love at first sight or love that developed over time, if it was one-sided, it was best to cut your losses as soon as possible. Even if it hurt.
Victoria suppressed the pain in her heart and just waited silently. He opened the car door for Isabella himself, "Get some rest when you get home."
"I can't rest until I see you again. See you later," Isabella said, sitting in the car and not willing to close the door.
Alexander still smiled like a gentleman, helped her close the car door, and told the driver to depart. "Miss Kensington, make sure you take your boss home early," Isabella said as the car started, looking at the woman standing behind her and making a gentle request.
Victoria came back to her senses and gave her a polite smile. Take him home...
As soon as the car left, her gaze involuntarily fell on him. Alexander turned his head, "Aren't you coming?"
"Oh," she walked up to him.
Alexander opened the back door of the car, but Victoria hesitated for a second. This was usually where the boss sat, she...
"What are you dawdling for? Grandma is waiting for you."
"Okay," Victoria didn't dare to delay any longer. It was only after she got in that he leaned into the car, and she subconsciously turned to look at him.
"Move in."
"Okay," she lowered her head, her voice barely audible.
She sat on the edge, and after Alexander got in, he closed the car door. Victoria felt as if the air had suddenly become a bit thin. He was sitting next to her; wasn't he too...
Victoria's hands unconsciously intertwined, and she sat there looking out the window. It seemed that by doing so, the ambiguous atmosphere between the two of them wouldn't mix together.
The car started; the air conditioning was on high, so it was very comfortable. Alexander was also looking out the car window, and soon he opened the window.
Victoria's hair was blown a bit messy by the wind, and she subconsciously lowered her head, tucking the loose strands behind her ear.
Alexander turned to look at her, and then closed the car window. "Are you uncomfortable?" His deep voice suddenly rang out in the car.
"No," she kept her head down.
Even the driver in front couldn't help but glance at the rearview mirror. The two were sitting quite far apart. Actually, Alexander didn't sit on the edge; it was just that she was sitting too far to the side.
The car quickly quieted down again, and in that unusual silence, there was a sudden and unexpected hint of ambiguity. How long have they known each other? How many times have they met? From childhood to adulthood, and then to his return.
Alexander turned his head again. His dark eyes were looking straight at her.
Victoria kept looking out the window, but the side of her face nearest to him was exceptionally red, even her ears were burning. Was this what it was like to be with someone you like? The inexplicable tension, the inexplicable daydreaming, the inexplicably burning in her ears, as if they were scorched.
But in the end, all she could do was suppress it. All the emotions, all the affection.
When the car arrived at the hospital, it was almost ten o'clock, so there weren't many people at the entrance. Alexander got out of the car first, straightened his suit, and walked around.
When the car door was opened, she thanked him out of politeness, "Thank you." Her voice was always very soft, as if she was afraid of disturbing others.
Her father had told her on his deathbed, "Vicky, when you're on your own, you can't be so carefree. You have to think carefully before you act, be polite, keep your opinions to yourself, and take good care of yourself."
Her mother had said, "You've been spoiled by your father and me since you were a child. I haven't had time to teach you anything. What will you do in the future? Vicky, take good care of yourself. Be careful and cautious, don't be conspicuous, don't stick your neck out."
In the dim light, a familiar hand suddenly appeared before her eyes. She looked up, surprised.
