Chapter 897 Alexander's Self-Disclosure

Elysium Country.

"At that time, Edward and Benjamin were right beside him. Alexander told the reporters that you and he spent three wonderful days and nights together. You get it?"

"How is that possible? We almost..."

"Almost what?"

"Completely broke up."

Victoria was stunned when she saw the news. What shocked her even more was that Alexander had narrated it. Such

How could she believe it?

What was the point of Alexander posting this online?

Or what kind of purpose was he trying to achieve?

"He went to reconcile with you. How could he completely break up with you?"

Olivia thought Victoria must have misunderstood Alexander.

Victoria, however, gave a helpless smile.

Alexander said she would mistreat Strawberry, and that was reconciling?

Friends seemed to mistakenly believe he loved her deeply, but it wasn't like that.

After hanging up the phone, Victoria asked someone to lay out the new carpet and wrap up all the table corners and such.

Strawberry was starting to walk.

And Alexander's birthday was coming up.

In the evening, after Strawberry went to sleep, Victoria, along with Eve and Frank, plus two servants, drank in the living room to celebrate their marriage certificate.

Eve asked her, "Should we get Mr. Harrington a gift?"

"You're getting married, why should you prepare a gift for him?" Victoria asked.

"It's his birthday. If we buy a gift now and send it back, it will still be on time." Eve said.

"Don't give him anything." Victoria refused.

But as soon as she said that, everyone immediately stared at her, so she had to change her tune, "I'm not giving him a gift. If you want to, I don't care, but you can't send it in my name."

She was afraid Alexander would misunderstand.

"Mrs. Harrington, do you not care about Mr. Harrington at all?"

"Yes."

Desiree asked her, and she quickly gave a firm answer.

"But every time you look at Mr. Harrington, there's a light in your eyes," Desiree said.

Victoria thought, 'What light?'

"Even though you're afraid of him, you'd rather hide and endure all the grievances than argue with him."

Eve couldn't help but mutter.

Victoria held a glass of red wine, sighed at Eve's words, and patiently explained, "I don't argue because it is pointless. The light in my eyes, could it be tears?"

Victoria looked at the person who asked the question as she spoke.

Desiree and Eve both found it hard to question her after hearing that.

"Mrs. Harrington, you love Mr. Harrington."

"Although I haven't seen you two interact much, the few times I saw you together, although you were arguing fiercely, you were definitely in love."

Barbara, who specifically took care of Strawberry, also said.

Victoria found it very strange. She had explained so clearly, yet these people still thought they were in love.

Would people in love hurt each other so deeply?

She sensed that her feelings for Alexander weren't as deep as she had hoped, and she could tell he felt the same.

It was just that everyone liked to magnify what they saw.

That was right, everyone just had too much imagination.

But that day, Victoria walked to a counter by herself picked out a dark blue men's shirt, and brought it home.

The shirt was so beautiful, it felt like it would be very warm to wear.

She thought she could wear it herself because a price of one or two hundred dollars was not what Alexander would consider.

Victoria secretly unpacked it and hung it in the closet at night when no one was around.

No one suspected the shirt; they all thought it was Alexander's.

Ankenra City, Alexander's office.

"How about Edward and I arrange something for your birthday this year?"

"No need."

Benjamin went to find Alexander under the pretense of grabbing coffee, but really, he wanted to talk about Alexander's birthday.

Without Victoria around, Alexander's birthday this year would be simple at the Harrington Mansion. It would be better for a few good friends to have a lively time together.

But as soon as Benjamin suggested it, Alexander refused.

"Do you have other plans?" Benjamin asked.

"Not at the moment," Alexander replied.

Benjamin couldn't quite figure it out. He thought Alexander was sad because Victoria wasn't around, so he continued, "I think we should get together. We can have Olivia and the others video call Victoria and wish you a happy birthday."

Alexander didn't say it, but he probably wanted to see Victoria.

Everyone understood that Alexander just didn't know how to express love; it wasn't that he didn't love Victoria.

"I don't need it," Alexander shook his head, still looking uninterested.

If Victoria had him in her heart, she would contact him herself to wish him well. If she didn't, it would mean she had moved on.

"So what are your plans?" Benjamin asked Alexander.

"I don't have any at the moment," Alexander sighed impatiently and stared at his cup.

Benjamin saw that Alexander seemed uninterested in everything and was a bit worried about him. But suddenly, Benjamin had a strong premonition. After leaving Alexander's office, he called Edward.

"I have a premonition."

"What premonition? Weren't you going to discuss Alexander's birthday?" Edward answered, somewhat surprised.

"But he said there's no need to celebrate," Benjamin replied.

Edward stroked his chin and muttered, "Olivia said that if Alexander had the mind to throw a birthday party, it would mean he was insincere about Victoria."

"That's why I said I have a premonition."

"What premonition?"

"That he won't even be here on his birthday."

As soon as Benjamin said that, Edward immediately understood.

If Alexander wasn't in town, where else could he be?

He must be going to see Victoria.

He probably already had an excuse ready, like a business trip, and would visit Strawberry as well.

As for why he was traveling so frequently, it would be because of some major incident that required his attention. He wouldn't say he was going to see Victoria."Do you remember the bet we made about when they would meet?"

"Alright, you win. You can come and get it whenever you have time," Benjamin said and hung up.

Edward got excited. He had his eye on one of Benjamin's limited-edition figurines.

That evening, Alexander returned to the Harrington Mansion. Before getting out of the car, he hesitated while holding his phone.

He had plenty of excuses to call Victoria, but what would happen if he did?

She would think he was being clingy, that he was pestering her.

Alexander thought about it, then irritably tossed his phone aside and got out of the car.

Suddenly, the slender figure of Victoria flashed before his mind. He couldn't remember which day it was, but she had run out to him from inside.

He got a bit angry at himself for thinking about these things and quickly composed himself, striding inside.

Brett and Eloise were out, Maximus was at a social event, and only Arabella was sitting in the living room drinking coffee. Hearing footsteps, Arabella calmly put down her cup.

Alexander walked over with his long strides and sat down, a rare smile in his eyes. "You're home alone."

Arabella looked at him and, knowing Alexander well, asked, "You need something from me, don't you?"

"Nothing escapes your notice. I want to borrow something from you," Alexander admitted.

"What is it?" Arabella asked curiously.

It was rare for Alexander to borrow something from her, and it was always for Victoria.

Alexander smiled mysteriously. After he mentioned what he wanted, Arabella couldn't help but feel a bit heartbroken. "That was my birthday gift from you years ago. I've always treasured it."

"I'll return it to you later."

"How can you take back something you've given? How about you bring Victoria back for Strawberry's birthday as compensation?"
