Chapter 930 The Cursed Man
"I only want what's best for Mr. Harrington," Daisy added."Do you realize how disgusting that sounds?" Diana put down her coffee cup.
Seeing Diana's reaction, Daisy restrained her temper and continued, "Don't we all want Mr. Harrington to be happy? And Victoria hasn't made him happy at all. She hasn't even given him a boy. Do you think Victoria could be cursed?"
"What?" Diana leaned in slightly, maintaining a posture of arrogance and grace.
"First, her parents died, then she almost killed your grandmother, and even Mr. Harrington had a car accident. If a woman has such things happen around her in a few years, she might be cursed."
Diana opened her mouth but couldn't find the words to curse back. She felt that arguing with someone like Daisy was beneath her. She decided to let Daisy face the consequences of her actions. A narrow-minded and disgusting woman like Daisy would eventually get what she deserved.
"So, in your eyes, women are just baby-making machines?" Diana couldn't help but retort.
Daisy smiled, "That's not what I mean. It's just that some lowly women are only fit to be called machines."
Daisy thought her logic was flawless. Diana thought for a moment and nodded, "You're right. Some lowly women aren't even fit to be called machines. That would be an insult to machines."
Diana mentioned this while scrutinizing Daisy. From the beginning, Diana knew Daisy wasn't cultured or refined, but she was shocked by how backward her thoughts were. Despite coming from an influential family, Daisy's narrow-mindedness puzzled Diana. Her cheerful demeanor seemed at odds with her inner self. Daisy's phone rang, and she immediately answered, "Hello, Mom."
"I heard the cell Isabella used to stay in is now empty."
"What?" Daisy was shocked.
Seeing Daisy's reaction, Diana picked up her coffee, sipping it with renewed interest. It tasted just right.
Daisy hung up the phone and looked at Diana, "Isabella's cell is empty. She must be out."
"Is the prison owned by Isabella's family? Can she just walk out whenever she wants?" Diana didn't believe it.
"Isabella used to sleep with many important people. They have some power. Maybe they helped her."
"Would they go against Alexander for a woman? Are they crazy, or are you?"
Diana didn't believe it.
"What if Mr. Harrington released her?"
"That's impossible," Diana found it laughable.
"Isabella told me herself that Mr. Harrington has deep feelings for her. He even took a knife for her when she almost died."
"Alexander taking a knife for Isabella was probably just to avoid my family being held responsible if she died."
After saying this, Diana felt a bit uncertain. Alexander wouldn't be that foolish, would he? If someone got Isabella out of prison, it could only be Alexander. But that was impossible unless he didn't truly love Victoria, and it was clear he did. There must be something else going on.
Isabella's cell was suddenly empty. Who in this city would dare help Isabella now? It was said that Timothy, the leader of the biggest force in the west of the city, fought with his wife over Isabella. Could it be Timothy who helped her? Impossible. Timothy wouldn't go against the Harrington family for Isabella. That wouldn't be wise.
"It must be because Mr. Harrington can't let go of Isabella. They grew up together, after all."
"What childhood friends? Isabella studied abroad, and Alexander didn't even like playing with her when they were kids."
"Really?"
"Of course. Back then... Anyway, there's no way Alexander released Isabella."
Diana recalled the past. Alexander had been in pain over losing Victoria for so long. How could he fall in love with another woman?
Diana went back to the Harrington Mansion. Only Brett and Eloise were home. She walked over to sit with them. "Grandpa, Grandma, why is the house so quiet today?"
"Your parents went out, Melissa doesn't like staying home, Adrian is busy with his acting, and you and Alexander are hardly ever home," Eloise remarked, looking a bit sad at Diana.
Diana immediately hugged her, "Grandma, it's not that I don't like coming home. I think about coming back to be with you and Grandpa every day."
"Really?" Eloise looked skeptical.
Brett just smiled. These kids had grown up and needed their freedom. They couldn't force them.
"Of course it's true."
"If you really care about us, will you play a game of chess with me?"
"What?"
"I'm bored. Will you?"
"Sure."
Diana thought it would be a good way to pass the time.
Seeing the servant bring the chessboard, Brett couldn't help but sigh quietly. Diana probably didn't know Brett's chess skills. Only Victoria and Alexander occasionally played with Brett these past years.
After less than ten minutes of playing, Diana was already losing patience, scratching her head in frustration, "Grandma, you can't do that. Once you place a piece, you can't move it again."
"Why can't I? I just did."
Eloise, wearing her gold-rimmed glasses, was very stubborn.
"Grandma, don't regret your moves. After this game, I'll tell you a secret."
Eloise looked up at Diana, trying to discern if she was telling the truth. Eloise was so bored at home that she loved hearing secrets.
"If you're lying, you'll have to play three more games with me." Eloise said and held up three fingers.
"No problem." Diana quickly nodded.
Eloise stopped regretting her moves and finished the game in three minutes. Eloise lost and grumbled, "You don't even let me win. How can you call yourself care about me?"
"Grandma, regretting your moves is wrong. If you don't regret your moves, I'll dare to keep playing with you."
Diana mentioned while packing up the chessboard.
"Then tell me the secret."
Eloise had to switch topics to distract herself.
"I'll tell you, but don't get too excited. We don't know if it's true."
"Alright."
Eloise and Brett both showed interest. They were just bored and wanted to humor Diana.
Diana leaned in close to them, their heads touching, and expressed, "I heard Isabella has been released from prison."
Brett and Eloise's expressions changed instantly. After a while, Brett asked solemnly, "Is that true?"
"They say someone has already gone to the prison to check personally."
