Chapter 802 Outsider
"Why?"
Shoure was taken aback for a moment, thinking that there hadn't been any recent need for the legal department to come in early.
"Victoria wants a divorce, so I'm playing along."
Alexander explained with a smile.
This time, he didn't seem upset when he said such things. On the contrary, there was even a hint of anticipation.
Shoure looked at him seriously, unable to understand what Alexander was planning.
He just remembered the time he helped Victoria lie and decided to follow Alexander's lead.
After work started, everyone got busy immediately. Alexander had a pile of documents to go through. Before heading into his office in the afternoon, he asked for a cup of Americano and didn't come out again.
This continued for several days.
Until Friday evening, when he suddenly called Victoria into his office before leaving.
"Mr. Harrington, you requested to see me."
"I'm going to see Strawberry tonight."
Alexander suddenly said.
"Okay."
Victoria was puzzled but obediently agreed.
He spent two hours every evening at her small apartment, seeing Strawberry.
When he said that, it was as if he hadn't seen Strawberry before. She really couldn't understand what he was up to.
"I'll take her early so I don't have to go to your place tomorrow."
Alexander quickly clarified.
Victoria, thinking about her recent back pain, agreed, "Alright."
Alexander didn't expect her to agree so readily. Reflexively, he glanced at her slender waist and asked, "Is your back hurting again?"
"No."
Victoria replied without hesitation. Alexander stared at her for a few seconds before looking down, "Say whatever you want."
"I'll head out then."
"Okay."
Alexander didn't say more.
Just as she turned around, his phone rang. He answered, "Ms. Bryant? Apologize? There's no need for me to be the one apologizing."
As he took the call, his deep blue eyes watched Victoria leave; then, his face immediately turned cold.
After closing the door for him, Victoria sighed helplessly and returned to her desk to pack up and leave.
As his subordinate, she couldn't fully understand Alexander's actions. After all, she was never as smart as him.
After work, she had just gotten into her car in the parking lot when the passenger door opened. She turned, "I'm off work."
"I know. Is it so hard to give me a ride after work?"
Alexander looked at her with a faint question.
Seeing the determined look in his eyes, Victoria patiently explained, "It's not hard, but Mr. Harrington, aren't you worried this car doesn't match your status?"
"No worries. Since you like driving this car, I'll tolerate it."
He closed the door, fastened his seatbelt, and waited for her to drive.
The car eventually set off under his insistence, heading straight to Rockland Street.
Eve and Frank were taking care of Strawberry. When Victoria and Alexander entered the house, they were momentarily stunned.
For a moment, it felt like this wasn't their home but Eve and Frank's.
The three of them looked so warm, while Victoria and Alexander seemed like outsiders.
Alexander was displeased, "That's my child."
Victoria didn't deny it, just smiled, "We're back."
The happy family of three turned around. Eve stood up from the couch holding Strawberry, "Mrs. Harrington, Mr. Harrington."
Eve wasn't surprised to see Alexander.
It was just that Alexander usually came after dinner, but today, he came before dinner with Victoria.
Frank took Strawberry, and Eve immediately said, "I'll go prepare dinner. Mr. Harrington, will you be staying for dinner?"
Alexander shot an unhappy look.
If he wasn't staying for dinner, why come so early?
He and Victoria hadn't had a meal together all week. Victoria didn't want to, so he had to find an excuse.
The annoying part was that he thought she wouldn't agree to let him take Strawberry tonight, hoping to chat with her a bit more. They rarely talked about anything other than work. But as soon as he suggested it, she agreed.
"Go prepare."
Frank gently reminded Eve.
Eve quickly escaped into the kitchen.
Alexander then walked in and took Strawberry from Frank.
Fortunately, Strawberry recognized Alexander. As soon as she saw him, she reached out for him, which made him feel a bit better.
Victoria also approached to see Strawberry. Alexander smelled the faint fragrance on Victoria and immediately held his breath to look at her.
He didn't dare to look too intently, fearing Victoria might misunderstand his intentions.
But her smile was utterly seductive.
"Sweetie, did you miss me? I'll wash my hands and be right back."
Victoria's soft voice said as she stood on tiptoe to kiss Strawberry on the lips, then walked away.
Alexander held his breath for a long time.
She kissed Strawberry, not him!
Holding Strawberry, Alexander murmured in frustration, "Your mom is so oblivious."
Strawberry was amused by his frustrated look.
Alexander's phone soon rang again. Strawberry wasn't startled this time. He glanced at the caller ID and was about to hang up, but...
"Eve, make some soup tonight. It's a bit cold."
"Okay."
Victoria suddenly came out and spoke to Eve in the kitchen. Alexander then answered the call, "Ms. Bryant, what else? Drinks later, how about after eleven?"
Alexander said it on purpose, then looked at Victoria. Victoria glanced into the kitchen and then reached out for Strawberry, "If you're busy, you can go. Strawberry doesn't need you right now."
"Of course, she needs me. At her age, she needs her father's company."
Victoria gave him a look and didn't respond.
Reluctantly, Alexander handed Strawberry to her, not forgetting to tell Strawberry, "She signed the agreement to give up custody. Don't think she's a good person."
Victoria was stunned.
How could he say that to Strawberry?
Besides, she hadn't signed anything.
It was him who, when drunk, said he would stop her from seeing Strawberry.
Alexander was good at turning the tables and accusing others.
Luckily, she filed for divorce. Otherwise, who knows how many bad things he would say about her to Strawberry in the future.
Victoria took Strawberry to the kitchen. Strawberry, in a new place, couldn't help but look around and then giggle happily.
Seeing her so happy, Victoria couldn't help but feel happy, too, feeling that the day's hardships didn't matter.
Eve noticed Victoria looked a bit pale and softly said, "How about I hold her? Frank learned some dishes; he can cook for us."
"Okay, you hold her for a bit."
Victoria agreed.
Alexander sat alone on the couch, holding the remote, but couldn't help looking towards the kitchen.
That family of four was having a good time, and he was the outsider, right?
Alexander looked at Victoria and thought, 'Just you wait.'
