Chapter 735 She's Coaxing Another Man Besides Him

"Now?" Victoria asked Alexander, looking puzzled.

"Yeah, it's polite to make an appointment ahead of time," Alexander replied, his fingers playing with the ballpoint pen.

Victoria found him irritating but had no choice. She pulled out her phone to find Daisy's number. Just as she was about to dial, Alexander grabbed her hand.

"What? Weren't you in a hurry to make an appointment?" she asked, confused.

"Book the hotel first," he said.

"My bad. Which hotel do you want, Mr. Harrington?" she asked.

"Our own hotel is fine. Dinner, some red wine, and then... I haven't taken any other woman to our suite yet," he said, his eyes locking onto hers with a slow smile.

Victoria took a deep breath, calmed herself, and said, "Got it. I'll arrange it now. Should I also order some roses for the room? It's too late to get them from abroad, so I'll pick the best local ones."

Alexander seemed pleased and smiled, "Sure, order the flowers first."

"Alright, then please let go, Mr. Harrington."

"Sorry, didn't mean to."

"Then please, Mr. Harrington, don't touch your female subordinates so casually in the future."

"Why not?" he asked.

"Shouldn't there be a safe distance between Mr. Harrington and his secretary?" Victoria reminded him.

Alexander smirked, "How far apart should we stay to maintain a safe distance?"

"Three feet isn't too much, is it?"

"Not too much," he said, stepping back. "Do you want to get a ruler to measure it?"

Victoria felt a bit uneasy but said, "No need."

She started looking for a flower shop. She still had the number of an old one saved. The call connected quickly. "Hello, I'd like a thousand of the best red roses, just..."

"We're in the coffee business now," the voice on the other end said.

"Sorry to bother you then," Victoria quickly hung up, feeling oddly empty.

Alexander noticed her mood and asked, "What happened?"

"The flower shop switched to the coffee business," she said, her voice tinged with sadness as she scrolled through her contacts for another flower shop.

For some reason, she couldn't see clearly. She took a deep breath and kept scrolling, not realizing her eyes were red.

Alexander's expression turned serious. "Victoria."

"I found another one," she said.

"Tonight, I just remembered Eloise asked us to discuss Strawberry's welcome baby party," he reminded her.

Victoria looked at him, dazed. How could she forget? He had told her before.

"What about your date with Ms. Bryant?" she asked.

"Why do you think a man likes to ask a woman out for dinner at night?" Alexander asked seriously. "Once Strawberry's welcome baby party is settled, I'll make another appointment with her."

"Okay," she said, seeing his seriousness. She didn't want to call Daisy anyway. If a man was serious about dating a woman, he wouldn't need someone else to do it for him. How long did it take to make a phone call? Besides, everyone had Facebook; he could sort everything out in the time it took to go to the bathroom.

Victoria turned to leave; she needed to get off work and have dinner.

"Victoria," Alexander called out again.

She turned her head, her eyes dull, and softly asked, "What else do you need, Mr. Harrington?"

"Are you going to lunch?" he asked.

"Yes."

Alexander's tone turned inviting, "How about we go together?"

Even with just a few words, it felt like he was asking her out on a date. Her vision blurred, but she managed a smile, "I don't dare."

She turned and walked away. She really didn't dare. Stealing those rich girls' men could cost her life. Last time she was lucky; who knows what might happen next time. Daisy might not be Isabella, but when a woman got ruthless, anyone could become Isabella.

As Victoria entered the elevator, her phone rang. Seeing it was Ava's number, she answered, "Ms. Montgomery, what? I'm at the Harrington Group Office Building, it'll take about half an hour to get there."

Victoria listened to the voice on the phone and quickly ended the call. Alexander knew who Ava was, but what could Ava want with her? Ava was Adrian's agent.

As he pondered this, his own phone rang. It was Eloise. Alexander answered, quickly fell silent, and then slowly hung up. His eyes darkened, confirming it was indeed about Adrian. Was she really that anxious about Adrian?

Victoria called for a car, but it hadn't arrived yet. A Ferrari stopped next to her, and she instinctively stepped back. The man leaned over to open the car door and commanded, "Get in."

Victoria saw it was Alexander, and his expression looked... He definitely knew what had happened. So she quickly got in the car, not daring to delay.

Alexander asked, "Aren't you going to ask where I'm taking you?"

"To the hospital, right? You came down so quickly, you must have received a call from the elders at Metro House, right?" Victoria analyzed.

Alexander didn't say much because she was right. But along the way, Alexander really saw her nervousness, her unease, her worry. For another man.

They soon arrived at the hospital, and Victoria hurriedly ran inside. Ivan happened to come down from upstairs to meet her and immediately explained, "A car accident scene went wrong."

"How is he now?"

"Still in surgery. His mother has booked the earliest flight to come over."

"Okay."

Victoria agreed, and the two entered the elevator. Seeing who followed them in, she remembered him. Victoria's heart skipped a beat, but she didn't say anything.

Ivan said in a polite tone, "Mr. Harrington."

"Hello," Alexander responded and then silently stood behind Victoria.

An hour later, Adrian was wheeled out of the operating room. His right leg and right arm were both fractured, and his head was wrapped in bandages.

"I was really afraid I'd never see you again," Adrian said, lying on the hospital bed, holding Victoria's hand, looking at her sadly. He even smiled a bit but soon looked lost again.

"Well, now you see me. Next time you shoot that kind of scene, make sure the staff double-check everything," Victoria said lightly.

"Did I scare you?" Adrian asked, hoping she would worry about him more. He looked at her with hopeful eyes, wanting to hear something like that.

"When Ms. Montgomery called, I was indeed scared, but now it seems it was just a false alarm. You'll get better soon."

"Really?" Adrian felt a bit better hearing her say that.

"Of course," Victoria replied.

Alexander stood by the window, silently watching Victoria comfort Adrian on the hospital bed. She was smiling so... She really didn't love Adrian, right? She definitely didn't. But she was smiling so brightly, and what she said was so... Victoria was comforting a man other than him.
