Chapter 472 I'm Begging You
"""Dear,"" Alexander called.
Both the fitness coach and Victoria looked up toward the stairs.
Alexander's call of 'dear' was truly pleasant to the ears.
At this moment, Victoria was still unaware that he had lied to Adrian about her pregnancy.
Victoria just looked at his flattering smile, feeling like a little monster inside her would come out and punch him.
Of course, she couldn't bear to hit his face.
""I'll go now, talk to you later,"" Victoria said.
""Okay, goodbye."" The fitness coach didn't even greet Alexander today, making no eye contact.
Victoria watched the fitness coach leave for a long time before looking back, only to see Alexander staring at her with an unfriendly gaze.
She averted her eyes and went home.
Alexander left for a business trip on Wednesday. When he wasn't around, Victoria felt considerably more at ease and left work on time.
That day, just as she was about to leave after work, a car stopped in front of her.
""Victoria?"" The personcalled out.
""Mrs. Harrington."" Victoria looked at the person and immediately nodded politely in greeting. ""I'm Adrian's friend, no need to be so formal.""
""Get in the car. I'll treat you to dinner,"" Melissa said.
Victoria got into her car.
So, the driver from The Harrington Mansion, Felix, who was supposed to pick her up, saw this and went back to The Harrington Mansion to report it to Brett Harrington and Eloise.
Hearing this, Eloise immediately looked at Arabella, who was sitting next to her. ""It seems your sister still cares about what happened back then.""
""I'll talk to her,"" Arabella responded.
""I don't know who Victoria really likes. I thought she liked Alexander, but when I visited her, I saw Adrian at her place."" Eloise was also troubled.
""Most likely, Adrian went to see her on his own,"" Arabella guessed.
""That's not okay either. Victoria was at home in her pajamas, lying on the bed, and Adrian is her brother,"" Eloise added.
Eloise was very concerned about this matter.
""Victoria will be twenty-four next year, right?"" Brett asked.
""Yes,"" Arabella answered.
""She is already part of our family and has reached the age of being sensible. Hence, it would help if you approached her precisely to prevent her from making mistakes,"" Brett also said.
""Dad, don't worry. I'll talk to her when I bring her back tonight,"" Arabella answered.
""Good,"" Brett replied.
""We shouldn't overthink it. It should be clear that Victoria likes Alexander,"" Maximus added.
""I'm just worried that Adrian might be confused,"" Eloise anxiously told Maximus.
""That has nothing to do with Victoria,"" Maximus said seriously.
""Adrian, we never cared for him as a child. He feels apart. He doesn't listen when I talk to him. Victoria should talk to him,"" Eloise explained her point.
Hearing this, even Maximus fell silent.
Sometimes, only the person he liked could get through to him.
But Maximus still felt there wasn't much hope.
Victoria had probably already rejected him, but Adrian still couldn't let go.
Matters of affection were always the most troublesome.
But everyone was too afraid, fearing that close relatives might like the same person.
Victoria and Melissa had dinner at a restaurant near the company. After the meal, Melissa left. Victoria saw another familiar car approaching her.
""Mrs. Harrington,"" Felix greeted.
""Felix."" Victoria greeted him politely but with confusion, then got into his car.
A video call came in. Victoria opened her phone and saw it was Alexander. She immediately got nervous, her fingers hovering over the screen for two seconds before she declined the call.
Yes, she was so nervous that she didn't dare to answer his video call.
""Mrs. Harrington, do you have a date solate?"" Felix asked.
""It's Alexander."" Victoria instinctively replied.
""Mr. Harrington? Then why didn't you answer?"" Felix asked.
""I'm a bit nervous."" She smiled awkwardly, then lowered her head, holding her phone. After thinking, she answered the video call but turned the camera forward.
""Are you in the car?"" Alexander asked.
""Yes, Felix is taking me back to The Harrington Mansion,"" Victoria replied.
""Hello, Mr. Harrington,"" Felix quickly greeted to the camera.
""Turn the camera around,"" Alexander's voice came from the phone.
Felix instinctively looked in the rearview mirror.
In the mirror, Victoria's face was red, looking shy clearly.
Felix knew Victoria must like Alexander. Her face was so red, which was why she pointed the camera at him.
Felix immediately straightened his posture.
""If you have something to say, just say it,"" Victoria said.
""Of course, I have something to say. My business is to see you,"" Alexander replied teasingly.
""Am I worth for your seeing?"" Victoria said softly, embarrassed. Her hand holding the phone was sweating.
It was already late October, but she was still sweating, showing how much she cared about him.
Mainly because, although he couldn't see her, she could see his face in the video.
It was just after nine, and it looked like he had already taken a shower. Victoria thought for a moment, trying to calm herself by changing the topic, ""Did you take a shower so early? Are you done with work?""
""Yes, I had dinner around eight and came back. There's no one else in my room,"" Alexander said, turning his phone to show her his room.
Victoria wondered why he was doing that.
It was as if he thought she suspected someone was hiding in his room.
""I'm almost home, hanging up now,"" Victoria said.
""Victoria,"" Alexander called out.
She sighed after hanging up without responding.
Victoria felt her face was burning. She even opened the window a bit, and Felix asked considerately, ""Mrs. Harrington, is the air temperature too high?""
""No."" Victoria quickly closed the window.
She just wanted some fresh air.
Before Alexander left, he asked her to go with him, but she didn't agree.
He took Shoure.
He wanted to take her, and it was common for a secretary to travel with the boss.
But it was rare for a secretary and boss to share a room.
Victoria didn't dare, fearing he might lose control and do something inappropriate to her.
Although he promised not to be nice to Isabella anymore, he hadn't fulfilled that promise yet.
She couldn't just open up to him the moment he agreed.
She didn't care if it was his first time making love.
She cared about him.
After returning to The Harrington Mansion, Arabella talked to her a bit more before leaving her alone. Victoria stayed in their room.
Arabella went back to her room and couldn't help but complain to Maximus, ""Alexander really forgot his mom after getting a wife. He doesn't let me say anything to her, afraid of making Victoria upset.""
""Isn't that good? We were always worried about him being with the Montgomery Family girl,"" Maximus said.
""Victoria is much better than that woman. I'm just worried she'll cause a rift between the brothers."" Arabella worried.
""She won't."" Maximus pulled Arabella into his arms, comforting her, ""They're not like us, and our son handles these things better than I did.""
Arabella looked up at him. ""You always lack confidence. You didn't do anything wrong back then.""
""I caused you and your sister to be separated. Isn't that wrong?"" Maximus said.
""Who says sisters must always be together? People will always part, and I don't think it was wrong,"" Arabella explained.
Maximus was touched the most for Arabella never blamed him. Although she sometimes scolded him, she always forgave him in her heart.
""It would be great if Victoria could have a child,"" Arabella wished.
""She will. I see their relationship has improved recently,"" Maximus comforted.
""That would be wonderful. By the way, I need to remind Alexander to bring a gift for Victoria when he returns,"" Arabella said, taking out her phone to message her son.
At that moment, Alexander was on a video call.
""Let me see you, just for a second,"" Alexander begged.
""No,"" Victoria refused.
""Please,"" he begged again.
""Then beg me,"" Victoria said.
""I'm begging you,"" he replied."
