Chapter 230 Perhaps You Dishonor Your Husband

As the night deepened, he concluded his call and returned to the bathroom, lightly rapping on the door. "Victoria?" he inquired.

Victoria, still immersed in her bath, had first cleansed her face before sinking into the warm water. "Not finished yet," she replied, her voice carrying an unusual tone.

Alexander refrained from further comment, choosing instead to lean against the wall in silent patience. A chuckle escaped him, unbidden and inexplicable. Victoria, ever aware of his presence just beyond the bathroom door, felt a mix of bashfulness and security. From the moment he had arrived at her home, she had been enveloped in a comforting tranquility. Yet, she refused to allow herself to become infatuated with him once more. She was resolute in her decision to leave.

When she finally emerged, more than ten minutes had elapsed. She carefully pushed open the door from within, casting a quick glance outside. As she did so, Alexander turned, his gaze meeting hers. Victoria's heart fluttered, and she nearly retreated back into the bathroom. He was casually leaning against the wall, his nonchalance ensnaring her.

Straightening, Alexander approached her. "Can you walk on your own?" he asked.

"Um, I didn't bring any pajamas with me," she reminded him softly.

Alexander's gaze dropped slightly, taking in her towel-wrapped form. She had tightly swathed her upper body as though to shield herself from a notorious womanizer. Despite her modesty, her slender legs were on full display.

"Next time, you should use the same towel to cover your entire body," he suggested.

"There won't be a next time," Victoria murmured, her gaze falling to her exposed legs.

"What did you say?" he queried, having missed her quiet utterance as he prepared to retrieve her pajamas.

"Huh? Nothing," she responded, meeting his gaze with a smile.

Yet, a sense of unease settled in Alexander's heart. He was certain she had said something, something of significance. Cursing his inattentiveness, he wondered if she was contemplating leaving once more.

"Stay here tonight and don't go anywhere, understand?" he instructed, his words a firm declaration as he left to fetch her pajamas.

Victoria acquiesced with a nod. "Fine."

The room's warmth seemed to foster a sense of civility between them. As Alexander sought out her pajamas, his gaze fell upon her collection of provocative sleepwear. Images flooded his mind, prompting him to turn and approach her. After two years of matrimony, modesty was unnecessary, even sleeping in the nude was not an issue. With this thought, he quickly exited the room, her pajamas in hand.

Upon seeing the sleepwear he had selected, Victoria protested softly, "Can't you pick a thicker one?"

"Will you wear it or not?" Alexander asked, his tone final.

"I will," she conceded, accepting the garment and once again closing the bathroom door behind her.

Alexander found her wariness towards him unnecessary. His desire to share a bed with her was genuine. The thought of lying beside her seemed to dissipate any lingering discontent. He had prepared the ointment in advance, but when she emerged from the bathroom clad in a nightgown and headed for the closet, his brow furrowed in displeasure.

Moments later, she reappeared, now wearing a shirt. Seeing him on the bed, Victoria hesitated before approaching and declaring, "I'll do it myself."

Alexander remained silent, his gaze fixed on her. He found her behavior somewhat audacious.

"Don't you think you are disrespecting your husband?" he challenged.
