Chapter 542 I Did Not Cancel My Wife's Residency

That night, Victoria huddled under the window until dawn.

She ran into Alexander again a week later.

Arabella called, saying she was sending a car to pick her up. Brett had been sick for days and wasn't getting better. He missed her.

Victoria changed into a long blue dress and waited at the film studio entrance after work. Just as she was getting bored, she heard a noise.

A black Rolls-Royce pulled up.

She clutched her bag strap nervously, feeling uneasy.

The passenger window rolled down, and a sweet voice called out, "Hey, Ms. Katherine. Alexander and I are here to take you to the Harrington Mansion."

Victoria looked at her but didn't dare to peek inside. She instinctively opened the back door and got in.

Alexander, who was driving, stayed silent the whole time.

Tessa, sitting in the passenger seat, turned around and chatted warmly with Victoria, "Ms. Katherine, are there a lot of handsome actors in your crew? Can I visit next time to check out the handsome guys?"

Victoria smiled. "Sure."

Many girls visited during the holidays to see handsome guys. It wasn't unusual.

Alexander remained sullen and unhappy. Victoria suspected his frustration with Tessa's talkativeness, yet noticed her guileless courage, considering her perhaps an exception to his mood.

"Let me tell you..." Tessa talked about her celebrity crushes the entire way.

Finally, they reached the city, and Alexander pulled over and said, "Didn't you say you wanted to go shopping?"

"Did I say that?" Tessa was taken aback.

Victoria couldn't help but look at the back of his head.

Tessa realized and said, "Right, I did say that. Ms. Katherine, see you next time."

"Okay." Victoria nodded.

After Tessa got out, Victoria fell silent.

Alexander in the front stayed silent, too.

Finally, they arrived at the Harrington Old Mansion. As soon as Alexander parked the car, Victoria immediately opened the door and got out.

Alexander hadn't even turned off the engine yet, his deep eyes staring straight at Victoria walking inside.

Mason greeted Victoria at the door. "Mrs. Harrington, welcome back."

Victoria smiled politely and asked as she walked in, "Is Brett feeling better today?"

"He's still lying in bed." Mason followed her, stopping inside and glancing at Alexander, who had just gotten out of the car.

Mason thought, 'What a pity. This couple was supposed to have a wedding, but now they act like strangers.'

In reality, their relationship was worse than that of strangers.

Victoria met Arabella halfway, and the two of them went to see Brett and Eloise. Before they even entered, they heard the couple talking.

"Do you think you're going to die just because you have a fever?" Eloise was both worried and heartbroken.

Brett rarely got sick, but when he did, it was serious and scared her.

Eloise didn't want to outlive Brett. She was afraid.

Arabella whispered to Victoria outside the door, "Brett had a fever the night before last and was delirious, thinking he wouldn't make it."

Victoria listened, feeling touched as she looked inside.

Brett lay in bed, touching Eloise's face. "Do you cry with a runny nose at this age?"

Eloise muttered, "Anyway, you can't die before me, or I won't forgive you."

"Alright, I know. I'll die after you."

The elderly couple held each other's hands, their deep affection moving anyone who saw them.

Victoria thought, 'How many couples in this world can grow old together? Anyway, I...'

"I was just about to ask Victoria why you hadn't come back. Be careful with your words later. Don't upset your grandpa," Arabella said to Alexander.

"Okay." Alexander quickly walked over to them, agreeing while looking inside.

Victoria smiled and walked in. "Brett, Eloise, I'm here to see you."

Behind her, Arabella asked Alexander, "If there's anything else you need, let me know so I'm not caught off guard."

"No need," Alexander replied indifferently and walked in.

"No need?" Arabella thought Alexander was really stubborn.

Arabella wondered, 'Who does Alexander take after? Probably me. After all, I'm the most stubborn in the family.'

Eloise pulled Victoria to sit by the bed and said, "Brett has been thinking about the times you two used to paint together these past few days, afraid there won't be another chance."

Victoria said softly, "That won't happen. Brett, if you want to paint with me, just call me anytime. I'll come back right after work."

Brett and Eloise looked at Victoria and suddenly fell silent.

Victoria also realized her mistake. She pondered, 'Damn it. I'm so focused on making Brett happy that I forget I'm supposed to be Felicity now.'

"You still say you're not Victoria." Eloise was about to cry again.

"I also learned to paint when I was young," Victoria added.

Alexander questioned coldly, "Which orphanage had such good conditions?"

Victoria didn't look at Alexander and continued to cheer Brett and Eloise up before getting up to leave. "Brett, Eloise, I have something to do today, so I'll go first. I'll come back to paint with you when Brett gets better."

"You're leaving so soon?" Eloise was surprised and reluctant.

"Yes, I have to memorize a lot of lines when I get back," Victoria said seriously.

She knew Brett and Eloise were reasonable and wouldn't make things difficult for her.

"But..." Eloise held Victoria's hand and then looked at Alexander. "You should take your wife home."

"I'll make sure she gets home safely." Alexander reluctantly agreed and then looked at Victoria. "Let's go."

Victoria felt uneasy and didn't want to go with him, but not wanting to worry Brett and Eloise, she reluctantly followed him out.

"Come to the bedroom with me first." As soon as they were outside, Alexander suddenly grabbed her hand and led her to the bedroom.

"Why are we going to the bedroom?" Victoria didn't want to go, her steps becoming stiff.

Arabella, Brett, and Eloise suddenly stood at the door, feeling a bit disappointed they couldn't see the excitement.

They knew Alexander couldn't keep up his cold demeanor for long.

Arabella said, "Come to the room with me; there's something you didn't take."

Victoria asked, "What is it?"

Victoria, bag in hand, stealthily pushed the bedroom door wider with her finger, as if this could keep them level-headed.

Alexander didn't answer her, walking straight to the bedside table and bending down to take out some documents, saying, "Please come over."

His excessive politeness didn't ease Victoria's guard. She didn't move.

Alexander's cold gaze fell on her, and he walked over. "You should see how cute Tessa is. I could never give her up to be with you again."

It had been a while since they discussed hell's crowd. Victoria thought he may have given up on her, not giving it much thought, just looking at the papers in his hand.

"There's something I've been meaning to tell you," Alexander said.

"What is it?" Victoria asked.

"I never canceled your registration." Alexander looked at her.
