Chapter322 The Miscarriage Baby Was Mine
"What right do I have to summon such a multitude of guests to my wife's birthday celebration?" Alexander's stern inquiry reverberated through the room.
Victoria's gaze was locked onto him, a sense of infatuation enveloping her. She was aware that she had once again succumbed to his charm.
Yet, how could she resist this man? The man who stood before her, exuding an aura of cool composure, acting as her shield against the swirling rumors. How could she not fall for him once more?
Victoria had faith in Alexander. If he claimed he had never betrayed her, then he hadn't. In that moment, she found herself helplessly falling for him again, perceiving him as suddenly towering and formidable.
Alexander had declared her as his family, even going as far as to clasp her hand. Victoria felt the warmth radiating from his palm, her gaze never wavering from him. His trust was not easily earned, yet he stood firmly by her side.
Whether it was love at first sight or a fleeting infatuation, she harbored no regrets about their encounter. Simply because he was there, right in front of her, holding her hand and shielding her from the world.
"Why not let everyone see these photos first?" Naomi asked again.
"Or perhaps we could start by displaying the doctored, indecent images of your family members? If you're agreeable, I'm more than willing to accommodate your suggestion," Alexander retorted, a deep smile playing on his lips, his eyes reflecting profound depths.
Naomi was taken aback by Alexander's retort. Her expression soured, and she could hear the low, mocking laughter echoing around her.
"What indecent affairs does our family have? Moreover, we're discussing Victoria's alleged affair at present. Can you swear that you haven't been violated and that you haven't duped the Harrington family?" Naomi's gaze darted to Victoria, who was standing beside Alexander.
"It's strange today. Why are some people insistent on highlighting Victoria's supposed humiliation? What advantage does it bring you?" Arabella finally lost her patience, turning her head to address the person questioning Victoria from the table behind her.
"I have a query as well. Does the Montgomery family have any association with this girl?" Maximus, maintaining his usual composed demeanor, drew the attention of the hundreds present in the banquet hall towards the table.
"Absolutely not. We don't know this girl. I believe such a virtuous girl has emerged to seek justice for your Harrington family," Naomi said.
"Has the Harrington family reached such a state that it requires a young girl to seek justice?" Mr. Nicolas's stern voice echoed through the hall.
Naomi was no fool. Upon hearing this, she knew better than to speak further. Yet, with so many witnesses, she felt emboldened.
"The Harrington family may not be in a state where it requires a young girl to seek justice, but it seems perfectly acceptable for them to allow other girls to undergo abortions without any care or concern," Naomi shot back.
"What did you say?" Eloise spun around upon hearing these words, demanding, "What did you say? Repeat it!"
Naomi's anger flared, but the man beside her merely raised an eyebrow. A single glance from him was enough to silence her. Yet, she looked towards Isabella, hoping she would rise and speak up.
If the Harrington family could continue to uphold their lofty stance tonight, Naomi knew she would harbor this resentment for the rest of her life.
However, Isabella was growing increasingly anxious. Not a single member of the Harrington family had ever acknowledged her.
And Alexander was indeed aware of the paternity of her unborn child. If she were to publicly declare that the child was his, their future together would be non-existent.
Isabella wouldn't let any opportunity to win Alexander's favor slip through her fingers.
"I suddenly feel unwell. I must take my leave," Isabella announced.
"The child that Isabella lost... was mine," a male voice confessed.
