Chapter 537 Sending Invitations

Everyone knew Alexander couldn't stand it when someone tried to find out where Victoria was.

Edward even joked about slapping that fact on Alexander's forehead.

Later that day, Alexander stood outside an apartment building in Glory City, holding a fancy wedding invitation.

He wore a white shirt and trousers, looking indifferent.

He stood outside without a coat, just the invitation in hand.

Dennis came out, saw Alexander, and instinctively looked around before approaching. "Mr. Harrington, is that really you?"

"Yeah," Alexander replied, squinting at Dennis, clearly not a fan.

"I'm surprised to see you here. Is there an issue with the ad?" Dennis asked.

"No." Alexander's annoyance grew.

Dennis sensed something was off. 'Why's he looking at me like I'm an idiot? Is he doubting my skills? Worried I can't help Felicity? Felicity must be his ex-wife. He's obviously here for her, no, Victoria. I can't believe she kept this huge secret from me.'

Dennis had been too busy to keep up with elite gossip as he was always hustling for his artists.

But now, all his artists were gone.

Dennis planned to relax later, but for now...

"Felicity's on a trip. She'll be back before joining the crew in about half a month," Dennis said.

Alexander snapped, "You let her travel alone?"

Dennis replied, "She's the only artist left, and I couldn't find anyone to go with her. I'm swamped."

Alexander glared at Dennis.

Dennis, feeling his throat dry from the death stare, said, "If you need anything, just let me know."

Alexander coldly said, "A friend is getting married. Deliver this to her."

"Okay," Dennis said, reaching for the invitation, but Alexander didn't let go.

Dennis looked up, thought for a moment, then suggested, "Why not deliver it yourself?"

"Since you're busy, I'll go myself," Alexander quickly said.

"Her house password is..."

"I think I know," Alexander cut him off.

"Alright," Dennis said meekly.

Seeing Alexander so confident, Dennis stepped aside.

But as Alexander walked in, Dennis couldn't help but peek inside, thinking, 'What do you know?'

Alexander tried their anniversary, his birthday, and hers, but none worked.

Feeling defeated, he quietly choked up, then tried again.

'Is it the day we separated?' As he pondered, Dennis' annoying voice interrupted, "The password is 7654321."

Alexander glared at Dennis.

"I'll be off then," Dennis said and left.

Dennis noticed Alexander's surprise, even if he didn't show it.

As Dennis walked downstairs, he thought, 'Did I just see disappointment in Alexander's eyes? Can someone like him even feel that?'

'What a childish password,' Alexander thought, walking in and gently closing the door.

He stood at the entrance, feeling her presence.

The place was simple and cozy, with her unique touch.

The balcony windows had white lace curtains with embedded pearls, the outer layer pink and white, faintly romantic.

Alexander walked closer, gripping the invitation tightly.

He felt a monster struggle inside him, ready to burst out at any moment.

'Did Victoria leave me to live in this cramped place? Is she happy without me?' he wondered.

Despite the delicate decor, it felt too shabby for Alexander.

But he still walked in and stood in front of the living room sofa, eyeing the open cigarette box on the table.

He just hoped it had nothing to do with Victoria. The last thing he wanted was for her to pick up bad habits like smoking or drinking.

'If Dennis is dragging her to those social events...' Alexander suppressed his anger, quickly looking elsewhere.

He turned his gaze inside and slowly walked closer.

Pushing open a door, he saw a pink mosquito net hanging over the bed.

The bed looked soft and comfortable, much better than the tiny apartment in Ankenra City.

It seemed like Victoria was enjoying life more now.

Alexander's brows relaxed for a moment, then furrowed again.

He worried she might have picked up other bad habits, like smoking, drinking, or messing around with other men.

He remembered Victoria lying on the hospital bed, asking him how to make love without touching.

He remembered the weariness in her eyes as she had asked him that, as if it didn't matter who it was.

Alexander walked to the bedside and saw a photo on the nightstand.

He didn't know that Victoria didn't want to arrange anything.

But Dennis had insisted, saying she might need to take selfies for fans anytime, so she had to maintain her image.

So, she had decorated her room.

Victoria actually felt quite lucky. The money from that ad was enough for Dennis to break even, but he still gave her a place to live before she even made a profit. It gave her some vitality when she was completely lifeless.

Alexander stood through the small window in her bedroom, looking downstairs. The street was noisy, with many cars passing by below, not ideal for living.

He thought, 'Can Victoria really sleep well here? Maybe she can, as she is easily content.'

Victoria didn't go home; she went straight to meet up with the crew.

When she saw her male lead, Victoria smiled helplessly. "Why is it him?"

Dennis laughed. "With this show, I'm sure you two will win Best Actor and Best Actress. Don't you think so?"

Victoria looked at Dennis, not understanding his confidence. She wasn't feeling it.

Earning money was her main focal point. When she visited a remote mountain area, seeing the children there, she knew what she wanted to do for them.

She needed a lot of money. She planned to build a scenic spot there, and then...

The ideal was far off, so she had to work hard.

"Adrian, don't forget what you promised me," Dennis said.

"Got it," Adrian responded, still staring at Victoria in her knee-length dress.

Victoria gave Adrian a sharp look. "If you want to talk, find a place with no one around."

Adrian immediately turned around. "I'll go back to the car. You come find me in a few minutes."

Victoria gave a knowing look but followed him just a few steps behind.

"Mr. Harrington, I'm Felicity, here to visit you," Victoria called out.

"Come in." Adrian visibly stiffened. He couldn't understand why Victoria was right behind him. It was too easy to be misunderstood.

Victoria entered Adrian's RV in front of many people.

The previous warmth contrasted sharply with the silence inside the car.

Adrian stared at Victoria, not saying a word.

Victoria leaned against the car door. After laughing, she crossed her arms, remained silent for a few seconds, then said seriously, "Adrian, from today on we are just colleagues."

"What?" Adrian didn't understand.

Victoria finished saying what she had intended to say and turned to get out of the car, smiling as she walked towards something that interested her.

People needed to know when to cut their losses, to reduce unnecessary internal friction.

That night, a car appeared at the hotel entrance of the film base.

And there was a wedding invitation.
