Chapter 907 He Asked Her, Is This really the End for Us?
"That was something I bought for myself."
A soft yet angry voice suddenly came from the private room.
Alexander's heart tightened, and he immediately looked at the phone in Edward's hand.
Edward smiled and waved the phone at Alexander, his eyes saying, "Your lie has been exposed."
Alexander didn't have time to get angry and grabbed Edward's phone, putting it to his ear. "When did you answer his call?"
"Why did you say it was a birthday gift from me to you?"
"It was meant for me."
Alexander said as he got up and walked out with the phone.
Edward and Benjamin sighed helplessly inside. Benjamin couldn't help but scold Edward, "You're really something."
"I'm helping him out. Otherwise, when will they ever get back together?"
"You're helping yourself. You haven't suffered too much from Olivia because of Alexander, have you?"
Edward fell silent.
He was doing it for himself and Alexander.
In the dimly lit hallway outside, Alexander's tall figure stood in the draft, listening to Victoria's gentle reproach on the other end of the phone. He felt a softness in his heart. When she finally stopped, he gently asked, "Do you miss me?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
Victoria, on the other end, felt flustered and was about to hang up.
"Vicky, I miss you."
Victoria hung up the phone.
It was midnight back home, and she wouldn't take his words seriously at this hour.
At most, he just wanted to make love with her.
After she hung up, Alexander couldn't hide his disappointment and took out his phone to send her a message: [I miss you in my heart.]
Victoria saw the message, glanced at it, and immediately put her phone face down on the table.
What was there to miss between them?
Even if there were countless things to miss, he should suppress it when necessary.
Since neither of them was indispensable to the other, she would rather not have it.
Victoria quickly composed herself, but Alexander was standing there, lost in his emotions.
It was half an hour before he returned to the private room.
Edward's little grudge had already faded away.
Alexander walked over, sat down, and placed the phone next to Edward.
Edward asked Alexander, "Did you get scolded?"
Alexander gave him a cold look and retorted indifferently, "She scolded me?"
"What? She can't?" Benjamin asked.
"I wish she would, but she doesn't give me the chance."
Alexander suddenly felt a deep sadness.
Victoria would think long and hard before saying anything to him.
When it came to matters of feelings, she would never say a word more than necessary.
But when it came to trivial matters, she would dare to argue with him.
The three of them drank for a while longer when suddenly the door opened from the outside, and William walked in. "You guys are really here. I just came from another room and heard that Elliot raped Daisy."
"That's not an issue; they're married." Edward reminded him.
"So what if they're married? If one party is unwilling, it's forced." Alexander shot Edward a murderous look.
William didn't notice anything and continued mysteriously, "Elliot said Daisy despises him all the time. Daisy wasn't exactly innocent either. And guess who her lover is?"
Alexander found this boring and ignored it.
Benjamin, however, thought seriously for a moment and then questioned, "I heard she hired a tutor to come to her house. Could it be that person?"
"As expected of you, you are right."
William looked at Benjamin with admiration.
Benjamin sneered and explained, "I just happened to know about it. It wasn't hard to guess."
"I didn't expect you to be so interested in other's marital affairs." Benjamin sneered at William.
"I'm just bored. Besides, I'm giving Alexander a heads-up. Don't be fooled by Daisy's innocent appearance. I think Victoria is better."
William hadn't seen Victoria for a while and now thought she was better. He used to think she was aloof and lonely because of family issues.
But now he felt her reluctance to mingle with men was a sign of self-respect. Being a bit reserved wasn't always a negative trait.
Alexander just snorted coldly after hearing this.
No one knew why he snorted, only he did.
He missed her again.
It turned out that all the frustration would quickly fade away with time and separation.
It seemed that after a certain period, missing her became the last thing left.
He just wanted to see Victoria, to be entangled with her, to hear her say she missed him over and over again.
But she might never say it again.
Back home, Alexander called Victoria on video.
It took courage to call her on video.
He was afraid she wouldn't answer.
Even more afraid that seeing her would make him unable to suppress his longing for her.
Victoria didn't answer, and Alexander laughed at himself.
After taking a shower, he lay on the bed and called her on video again.
She still didn't answer.
Not long after, Victoria finally answered, but it was through Eve.
"Mr. Harrington, what do you want now?"
Victoria's voice had a hint of anger.
"You can pick up Edward's calls without a second thought, but you choose to ignore mine."
"I thought it was something about Olivia," Victoria mumbled.
"You're worried about Olivia. Aren't you worried about me?"
"What could happen to you?"
"What if I got into an accident while driving? What if someone else was using my phone to call you?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
Victoria's eyes welled up with tears.
She couldn't stand Alexander using car accidents to get back at her.
Alexander continued, "There are so many accidents happening every day. Who can predict what might happen to me? Can't you just answer my calls?"
"You weren't even calling just now."
Victoria, exasperated, reminded him with teary eyes.
Alexander understood and a warmth began to spread within him. He softly replied, "Then I'll call your phone now, and you answer it."
Victoria had no choice. After the call ended, she set down Eve's phone and looked at her own. After hesitating for a moment, she reluctantly answered.
She disliked hearing him speak that way. No matter what, he had to be alright.
"Knowing he might call someone else if she didn’t answer, Victoria finally picked up.
"Are you still hesitating?"
As soon as she answered, Alexander quired.
Victoria helplessly replied, "What do you want?"
She tried to calm her down and figured it wasn't worth arguing since they were so far apart.
Unexpectedly, he sighed the next second and said in a suppressed voice, "Do you have any feelings? I keep shamelessly calling you over and over again. What else could it be?"
Victoria's eyes welled up with tears, and she couldn't say a word.
Alexander's hoarse voice questioned, "Do you want to never see me again? Is this the end for us?"
