Chapter 28 Going to Work Together

"Do you smoke, Vicky?" Sebastian asked, opening an elegant metal cigarette case and offering it to her.
"Thank you, but I don't smoke," Victoria replied politely.
Sebastian withdrew the offered cigarette. Alexander, noticing that her cup was still empty after the staff had poured coffee for him and Isabella, shot a glance at the waiter.
"Miss Kensington must drink coffee too, right?" Benjamin, picking up on Alexander's intention, asked immediately.
"Oh, yes, I do," Victoria quickly confirmed.
The waiter, realizing his oversight, promptly moved to pour coffee for her.
"You don't need to come back tomorrow," Alexander said after the waiter had poured the coffee.
Everyone looked at Alexander in surprise, and the waiter apologized nervously, "I'm sorry, Mr. Harrington; I'm sorry, Miss Kensington."
"It's... it's okay," Victoria quickly reassured him while also turning to look at Alexander.
"Leave," Alexander commanded again.
The waiter hurriedly apologized once more and left. Because the room was crowded and they were far away, Victoria didn't say anything to him. However, Isabella, who was sitting next to Alexander, took his wrist, "Why are you so angry? He's just a recent college graduate; he doesn't have much experience, and it's not easy for him. Besides, Miss Kensington doesn't blame him."
"That's no excuse for his neglect of a guest," Alexander replied indifferently.
"But what if he's really in need and depends on this job? Miss Kensington, won't you say something?" Suddenly, everyone's eyes were on Victoria, as if the waiter's fate depended on her intervention.
"Why are you all looking at her? I'm the one in charge here, not her," Alexander spoke again. Victoria, who had been about to say something, felt that Alexander was right. Indeed, it was a mistake for the waiter in charge of the private room to fail to serve all of the guests properly.
Soon, the supervisor came in to serve them personally. Alexander only said one thing, "From now on, you should all listen to Miss Kensington."
"Yes," the supervisor immediately refilled Victoria's coffee and paid special attention to her service. Victoria didn't understand, and neither did anyone else.
Isabella felt a bit desolate, but she quickly smiled and said, "Miss Kensington is one of us, so she must never be neglected again."
"Yes, I have already instructed them. According to Mr. Harrington's orders, Miss Kensington has a say here," the supervisor said. At this statement, the room fell silent again.
Isabella felt a bit sad. To be honest, even she didn't have the power Alexander just gave Victoria.
After dinner, Isabella looked at Alexander, "Alex, I'm a bit tired; can you take me home?"
"Sure," Alexander agreed.
"Aren't you going to play a few rounds of cards?" Sebastian asked Alexander. Actually, they wanted to chat with Alexander privately and playing cards was the best opportunity for friends to talk about private matters.
"Not tonight; let's go together," Alexander stood up after Isabella, but before leaving, he suddenly looked at Victoria.
Victoria, who was feeling awkward, stood up after hearing his words, "Sure."
"That's right, we live in the same building; it's a good idea to go together," Isabella looked at Victoria and said with a smile.
Victoria just returned a faint smile. However, the elevator seemed a bit crowded with the three of them.
Later, Alexander received a call. When he got out of the elevator, he said to the woman clinging to his arm, "I have to take her to the hospital to see my grandmother first; I'll have someone take you home."
"Oh, I see. Of course, your grandmother is more important. Then I won't cling to you. But can you come to my place again after you come back from the hospital? I want to talk to you, please," Isabella asked while gazing at him, being understanding yet coquettish.
