Chapter 641 I'm Going to Be a Dad

"Really? Then I have to open it myself and see." Alexander said in a calm and determined voice.

Victoria held her breath, "Go ahead, open it. If you see it's birth control pills, don't come crying to me. I've already warned you."

Alexander looked at her bag and then slowly at her defiant expression, suddenly realizing she was hurt.

"You jerk. I hate you so much." Victoria pouted.

Alexander gazed at her neck and suddenly kissed it. Victoria couldn't dodge in time and twisted her body to look at him, ready to scold him, but his expression was so gentle.

Victoria felt she was asking for it. Just a softer look from him, and she melted.

She lowered her head, frustrated with her own weakness and angry that he doubted her.

Just a moment ago, Alexander was saying sweet things, claiming he didn't believe what others said, making it seem like they were soulmates. But in the next moment, he doubted whether she was taking birth control pills.

After the wedding, she had been worried for a few days, but he had been taking care of her so tenderly that she couldn't think about birth control anymore.

Today, while having lunch with Olivia, she suddenly felt nauseous. When she threw up, she thought, 'If I am pregnant, we will have our own baby. That's so wonderful!'

Now, thinking back, she felt she was like a fool.

"Alexander, if you keep doubting me, even if I'm pregnant, I'll leave you with the baby," Victoria said slowly, her voice tinged with sadness but unwavering seriousness.

Alexander's heart sank as he heard her words. Without a word, he opened her bag.

The top items in the bag were two pregnancy test kits.

His heart leaped into his throat as he turned to her. "Did you go to the pharmacy to buy pregnancy tests?"

"Am I only allowed to buy birth control pills at the pharmacy?" Victoria shot back.

A warm, sweet feeling began to bloom in Alexander's chest, and his excitement was barely contained in his eyes.

He thought, 'She's... pregnant?

'When I came back and saw her reading a pregnancy guide, I should have realized. How have I not?

'When did I start doubting that my wife could be carrying my child?

'Victoria is bound to get pregnant, we've been intimate regularly and haven't used any form of birth control.'

"Baby," he murmured, his voice softening as he rested his forehead against hers.

"Don't call me that. If I'm not pregnant, then I'll just be the woman who takes birth control pills and doesn't want kids," Victoria pouted, avoiding his closeness.

Alexander couldn't help but smile at her reaction. At this moment, he was regretting his earlier actions more than ever.

"Given how much you love me, how could you not want to have a baby?"

"I'm not having a baby just for you. Even if I am pregnant, it's for myself," Victoria replied.

Alexander felt a pang of bittersweet emotion but answered, "True, it's for yourself, but you're also my precious."

"Save your sweet talk," Victoria said, sitting on his lap and staring down, refusing to meet his gaze.

"Do you need to use the bathroom?" Alexander suddenly asked.

He could barely wait to get the answer.

Victoria hesitated for a moment before nodding.

Despite her stubbornness, there was a natural softness in her expression.

Alexander quickly pocketed the pregnancy tests and lifted her up. "Let's go upstairs. I'll go with you."

"You didn't bring that little cup," Victoria reminded him almost instinctively.

"What cup?" Alexander asked, puzzled, but soon realized and adjusted his hold on her.

Victoria clutched her bag's strap tightly, pulling it close to her chest. She wasn't sure if it was Alexander's intense emotions that made her feel shy, but she couldn't help feeling a bit anxious.

They had shared so many intimate moments together, and now they were on the brink of discovering if they were going to have a baby.

As she held her bag close, Victoria felt a twinge of fear that she might not be pregnant. The thought of disappointing Alexander was unsettling.

She had always wanted someone with her bloodline, a connection she yearned for deeply.

Unlike their first time, this moment was not weighed down with heaviness but filled with anticipation for the future.

They crouched beside the toilet, placing the small cup on the lid. Victoria carefully dipped the pregnancy test into the cup, letting it sit for five seconds.

She silently counted down in her mind. She hesitated to check too soon, afraid it might be too early.

Alexander's gaze shifted from the test stick to Victoria, noticing her visible tension.

Victoria placed the test stick flat on the toilet lid and crouched down, hugging her knees tightly, her eyes fixed on the test.

"If it's negative, don't worry. I'll keep trying," he said, her voice trembling slightly.

Victoria glanced at him, puzzled by the sudden comment. "If it's negative, then you'll need to use protection from now on."

Alexander said, "Why's that?"

"Since you don't trust me anyway," Victoria grumbled in response but turned her focus back to the test stick.

She thought about what Alexander said. If the test came back negative, she would definitely remind him to use protection in the future and be extra careful herself.

She suddenly questioned whether having a child with Alexander was truly the right step. Their strong personalities might lead to arguments, and that would be problematic.

She didn't want her baby growing up in a chaotic environment.

Alexander couldn't take his eyes off her, the pregnancy test suddenly feeling inconsequential. "It's not that I don't trust you."

"What do you mean by that?" Victoria turned her gaze to the test stick.

"It's more about my own confidence." As the words left his lips, he, too, looked at the test.

They still had to wait three minutes.

Victoria instinctively turned toward him, surprised. She thought, 'Alexander, lacking confidence? Is that even possible?

'If I probe any further, will he reveal he is unsure about my feelings for him? After all, last Christmas, he figured out my true emotions—didn't he?'

She had fallen for him at first sight and could never resist him since.

"What if we're having a baby? We should come up with a name for our daughter."

"What name?" he asked, intrigued.

"Do you prefer Strawberry or Cherry?"

"Wait, what?"

"Edward said if he had a daughter, he'd name her Orange since Olivia loves oranges," he explained with a grin.

"Cherry sounds a bit odd. Let's stick with Strawberry," she replied.

Three minutes still hadn't passed, but the tension between them slowly eased.

Alexander glanced at Victoria, noticing her gaze drop. He couldn't help but smile, her eyes were a soft well of tenderness.

It felt like a positive sign.

Though they still had some time to wait, the test results would arrive soon enough.

After checking the instructions on the box again, Victoria's legs began to ache, prompting her to kneel beside him for a better look.

Alexander carefully read the details on the box before setting it down and confidently picking up the test stick.

Victoria's eyes remained glued to it, her heart racing.

Everything seemed to have teetered into a definitive conclusion.

With a calm expression, Alexander said, "I'm going to be a dad."

Victoria gripped her knees tightly, heart pounding, while forcing a calm facade. "Congratulations, then."
