Chapter 499 Give Back the Harrington Group a Future
"We've got nothing to talk about," Victoria sighed, leaning against the car door.
"Really?" Alexander asked .
"Yeah." Victoria nodded, but after a moment, she took a deep breath and added, "Actually, there are two things."
"What things?" Alexander leaned in, clearly interested.
"First, I want to quit. Second, I need my documents back," Victoria said firmly. She needed her ID card, and the rest she could replace.
"First, you can't quit. Second, I'm not giving your documents back," Alexander replied, his tone unyielding.
"Why not?" Victoria snapped, anger flaring.
Alexander looked at her like she was being unreasonable. How could he just keep her documents? That was basically trapping her.
"Maybe someday I'll give them back," Alexander said, his eyes softening just a bit.
Victoria stared at him, waiting for more.
"We got married, so you're mine," Alexander continued.
"I won't be," Victoria shot back.
Alexander glanced at her flat stomach and said confidently, "And you'll carry my child."
He ignored her protest, his domineering attitude making it clear her resistance was pointless.
"That will never happen," Victoria said, instinctively protecting her belly.
Alexander noticed her gesture, frowned, and asked, "Are you protecting the wrong place?"
Victoria blushed, realizing her mistake.
Alexander's intense gaze made her look away. She turned to press the door button. "Open the door."
She couldn't stay there any longer. 'How could Alexander be so shameless? I need to get out of here,' she thought.
Alexander chuckled at her urgency.
Victoria looked at him, confused.
Alexander quickly put on a serious face and snorted, "You're so naive. Where do you think you're going? Giving in is your best option."
'I don't want to give in. I want to go back to my apartment,' Victoria thought.
Alexander suddenly got out of the car and walked around to her side.
Victoria watched him approach, and when he reached out to open the door, she instinctively pressed the switch.
Now, she didn't want to leave.
Alexander stood outside, squinting at her through the window, clearly annoyed.
But Victoria didn't care. She just didn't want to leave.
Then the convertible top started to open.
Victoria blocked the switch, looking up in shock as her sense of security vanished.
Alexander stood up, looking down at her with a faint smile. "Mrs. Harrington, you like to play games, huh?"
Victoria suddenly felt scared, worried he might hit her.
'Why does Alexander always scare me? He's five years older than me. Can't he act more mature?' she thought.
"Do you want to come out yourself, or should I help?" Alexander asked.
When the formidable CEO extended his assistance, it was clear that he intended to take matters into his own hands. So Victoria obediently opened the car door and got out.
Alexander watched her reluctance with pride in his eyes.
He knew she'd comply.
After closing the car, they walked towards the elevator.
Victoria suddenly turned around and said, "I want to go back to my place."
Alexander put his hands on his hips and just smiled, not saying a word.
Victoria felt like she got the message and obediently walked inside.
But seriously, after everything, why was she still so timid?
She stopped at the elevator entrance and suddenly stepped aside.
"Now what?" Alexander asked, clearly annoyed.
Victoria lowered her head. "If you really want to marry me, shouldn't you respect me?"
"Three," Alexander said, ignoring her question.
"What?" Victoria was confused.
"Two, one," Alexander continued.
As soon as the elevator opened, Victoria darted inside, standing in a corner with her head down, feeling embarrassed.
She thought, 'How annoying is Alexander? A grown man using such childish tricks.'
Victoria clutched her bag, wanting to glare at him but not daring to.
'Why does he do this? I really want to punch him and teach him to respect women. What’s with the countdown? If I didn’t get in, would he really do something? Probably not,' she thought.
Victoria regretted rushing in after his countdown, but the elevator door was already closed. Too late now.
Alexander walked over slowly and stood beside her, staring.
Victoria felt super uncomfortable under his gaze.
He suddenly raised his hand close to her, and she instinctively leaned to the side, hitting her head.
"I was just fixing your hair," Alexander said, stopping his argument. He came to her side, one hand on her shoulder, the other on her head where she hit it.
Victoria winced in pain.
Her hand was still there. Feeling his hand pressing down, she quickly pulled hers away.
Alexander gently massaged her head, looking down at her. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah," Victoria awkwardly muttered.
But this made the elevator ride less awkward, even a bit lighter.
When they reached the top floor, Alexander stopped being difficult, took her hand, and led her out.
Victoria immediately noticed their hands holding, her heart racing. She couldn't help but look at him.
She suddenly pulled her hand back and stopped.
Alexander turned, "What's wrong?"
"If I go in, will you give me my documents back?" Victoria asked.
"How about I give you a gift instead?" Alexander smiled.
"A gift? What kind of gift?" Victoria was puzzled.
She thought, 'Didn't he just give me a gift? Why another one? But gifts are useless. Despite his mellifluous voice and lavish spending habits.'
"The driver said if we have a child, it would be fun," Alexander said.
A child as a gift?
Victoria looked at him in horror, stepping back.
Before she could take a few steps, Alexander had already grabbed her arm, opened the door, and pushed her in.
The door closed, and she stood inside, holding her sore arm. "Don't you dare," she warned.
"Oh, with our good genes and the Harrington Group's vast empire, I give you a child, and you give the Harrington Group a future. It's a fair exchange. You won't owe me, and I won't owe you, right?" Alexander smirked.
Victoria thought, 'What a load of crap. Fair exchange? Damn.'
"What do you think of my proposal?" Alexander asked.
"You're being unreasonable." Victoria glared at him.
Alexander just smiled. "So, do you accept or not accept this gift?"
"Mr. Harrington, since you're so straightforward, can I also make a request?" Victoria asked.
"Of course, go ahead," Alexander replied, sounding almost gentlemanly.
"I want Isabella to leave Regal Retreat," Victoria said coldly.
