Chapter 977 You Have to Marry Me First
"Darkness is the best way to apply pressure."
Alexander's expression was fierce as he spoke in a low voice.
In the room were also Benjamin and Edward, who understood what Alexander meant but remained silent.
"Understood."
Frank quickly left after hearing this.
Alexander leaned forward to pick up his wine glass but slowly put it down before drinking, holding it on his lap instead.
Benjamin then asked, "So, you suspect that Isabella kidnapped Tori?"
"Yes." Alexander wasn't entirely sure.
"If that's true, is this Isabella really the same Isabella we've known since childhood?"
Edward, holding his wine glass, was also skeptical.
The Isabella they knew might have had some tricks up her sleeve, but she was never this irrational and brutal.
"If that's true, then she deserves to die."
Benjamin murmured.
They should have realized this when Eloise was kidnapped; Isabella was already beyond redemption.
By now, Isabella had no feelings left for them.
Childhood friends? Growing up together?
How absurd! Now that Victoria's life was uncertain, Isabella's inhumanity seemed insignificant.
Although they asked about Isabella, they didn't dare to mention Victoria much.
It wasn't until Alexander had a few drinks and went back to take care of Strawberry that Benjamin and Edward dared to speak a few words.
Edward asked, "If Isabella kidnapped Victoria, what do you think are the chances of Victoria surviving?"
"Don't forget, last time Isabella tried to kill Victoria and ended up in prison."
Benjamin shook his head, unwilling to speculate further.
Because Isabella had lost her humanity, she was capable of any cruel act.
But if something really happened to Victoria, what would Alexander do?
Thinking of Strawberry, such a cute little girl without her mother, how pitiful would that be?
But Strawberry was young and didn't understand, while Alexander couldn't forget Victoria.
And Eloise, it was said that Eloise had fainted several times recently.
When Alexander returned to the Harrington Mansion, he intended to go straight to Strawberry's room, but was called to the study by Maximus.
"Alexander, I know you're under a lot of stress right now, but for Strawberry's sake, you need to give yourself a chance to rest, okay?"
"I'm fine."
Alexander spoke softly, standing by the desk.
Maximus walked over to Alexander and placed a hand on his shoulder.
He knew Alexander was strong, but he also knew Alexander was bearing too much.
Arabella was worried that Alexander would break down if he kept bottling things up and wanted him to release his pent-up emotions.
Maximus wanted to talk to Alexander, but where to start?
Maximus thought about how the family was suffering, about the possibility that Victoria was still being tortured, or even worse...
He could only place his hand on Alexander's shoulder and gently squeeze, "I know you're holding on, but remember this: even if you fall, I will always keep looking for Victoria. I will always be behind you."
Alexander's lips moved, but he couldn't say anything.
He knew his elders were worried about him.
But none of that mattered now.
A painting hung on the wall; Alexander didn't look up, but he knew it was painted by Victoria.
Brett loved having Victoria accompany him while painting, and there were many memories of her here.
She was always particularly serious when painting, with a kind of gentle detachment from the world.
She never seemed like the ambitious woman she appeared to be outside.
All she desired was a peaceful life, but he had never provided her with that peace.
Alexander suddenly found himself laughable.
He had always believed he loved Victoria deeply and had sacrificed much for her.
When she suffered, he thought he suffered too.
But at that moment, he suddenly realized that he was wrong.
What kind of suffering had he endured?
All the danger and pain were on Victoria.
His family worried he would break down from the tension.
He only reassured them and then went to the Strawberry's room.
Alexander felt at ease only when he was with Strawberry.
Because he believed Victoria wouldn't want Strawberry to suffer even a little, Victoria wanted Strawberry to have lots of love.
He had to fulfill Victoria's wishes.
He couldn't let Victoria down again.
But Frank suddenly told him that before the incident, Victoria had been looking at tickets to return.
Even though there was nothing happy for her in this city, she wanted to come back for him?
And because of him, she went through such a storm.
Alexander took Strawberry to his room, holding her in his arms, his face showing a despair no one else could see.
He didn't dare think about Victoria, but he still had nightmares.
Victoria was lying motionless in a pool of blood, her eyes devoid of any spirit.
She couldn't even call for help, let alone think of escaping.
Could she walk now?
She was so delicate; those despicable bastards would pay for what they did to her one day.
At some point, Alexander silently, but with tears streaming down his face.
He restrained himself, suppressed his emotions, appearing calm on the surface, but inside he was falling apart.
But with Victoria missing, how could he allow himself to collapse in sorrow?
He had to find her, whether she was alive or not.
Alexander didn't know when he fell asleep.
It seemed like someone was calling him.
"Alexander..."
"I want to go back, to be with you."
"Alexander, wake up, I'm lost, I can't see, Alexander?"
Someone was shaking his unconscious body.
For some reason, he saw himself standing behind two people, and the person lying on the ground looked exactly like him.
Alexander was confused, but he couldn't help but keep looking at the girl, who seemed like Victoria.
"Alexander."
Her hand was on his arm, looking delicate and soft, like Victoria's hand.
"Tori?" He called her.
The girl turned her head at the sound, and Alexander was stunned.
She wasn't Tori; she was Isabella.
Isabella slowly turned her head to look at him, and seeing his shocked expression, she suddenly burst into laughter.
"Victoria? She's long dead."
"Dead?"
"Alexander, marry me, and I might bring Victoria back to life."
Isabella slowly stood up, her obsessive eyes fixed on him as she spoke.
How could he agree?
But Isabella continued, "When I become the mistress of the Harrington family, Victoria can come back to life. But first, you have to marry me."
