Chapter 400 I'm Not Worthy

"He let go of her lips, but his gaze seemed to devour her whole.

Victoria gasped for breath, her eyelashes fluttered slightly, knowing he was answering the question for her pursuit.

It seemed like he had her all figured out.

He always knew what she was thinking and what she wanted to do.

Victoria suddenly felt a bit sad, and tears slowly welled up in her eyes.

She hated this feeling. Last night, she had escaped from The Harrington Mansion, and Alexander immediately knew where she was.

He found her and quickly subdued her.

Of course, the tiramisu he bought was alright.

But he insisted on her sharing a bed with him, and somehow, she quickly fell asleep like he had cast some kind of magic.

Victoria had planned to steal her documents and run away while Alexander slept, but she was still there.

Not only did she not find her documents, but she almost got caught.

She suddenly felt that her period was her savior.

Victoria decided to treat herself to a good meal at noon as a reward for her period.

Later, Alexander trapped Victoria in the kitchen, wanting her to make toast. Seeing her reluctant, he lifted her from the stove, held her waist, and sat her down in their dining chair. Then, he bent down, stroked her hair, and said softly, ""Sit here, I'll make breakfast for you.""

Victoria kept her head down and remained silent. He kissed her forehead before making breakfast, and only then did she quietly raise her gaze.

Victoria felt worthless.

Even his back view while cutting bread was so handsome that it was scream-worthy.

Not only was he tall, but he was also in good shape. Victoria propped her head slightly despondently on the table, then rested her chin on her hand, gazing at his back foolishly.

If this was the beginning for them, Victoria knew she would fall madly in love with him.

But that was impossible now.

'Oh!' A sudden thought flashed through her mind, and she immediately put her hand down. Looking at his back seriously, she asked, ""Did you make a call to announce the wedding date?""

Alexander, with his charming eyes lowered, continued cooking and replied, ""Yes.""

Victoria immediately got up and walked over, feeling a bit hypoglycemic, but still stood beside him, looking up at him. ""Don't do that! Who did you call? I'll have them cancel it immediately.""

Alexander glanced at her and smiled. ""The wedding will have to be announced sooner or later.""

""There will be many media present at that time. This call is just the beginning,"" Alexander added.

Even though she hadn't accepted his proposal, that didn't change anything.

Victoria listened, feeling very angry. ""Alexander, why are you doing this? You clearly didn’t like me from the beginning. Even if that woman cuckolds you, you don't need to find a woman to pass the time with randomly.""

Alexander looked at her, then continued cooking, thinking, 'Would I find any woman to pass the time with? That's ridiculous.'

""With your qualities, you can find a very good woman. Marriage is sacred. You're acting recklessly, do you know that?"" Victoria persuaded.

""Do you think you aren’t good enough for me?"" Alexander asked patiently.

Victoria was stunned but quickly replied, ""Yes, I'm not worthy.""

She really didn't want to be worthy anymore. She had been going crazy since Alexander’s return.

Alexander didn't like her talking like that, but he didn't intend to argue with her either.

""Alexander, I’m begging you. Please…"" Victoria coaxed him.

""Stop talking. The toast is about to burn.

""If I accidentally burn it, you'll have to eat it!"" Alexander said.

Victoria was about to faint from anger. ‘How could he be so mean?

‘I even coaxed him so nicely just now,’ she thought. She looked down at the toast in the pan. Fortunately, it wasn't too burnt.

She didn't want to eat burnt toast. It was poisonous.

'Poisonous?' Immediately, she remembered that kiss again.

She felt doomed, her mind filled with scenes of them kissing.

She knew they couldn't continue to keep living together like this. The longer they stayed, the deeper she fell."
