Chapter 488 Test Results

"""You still take out the trash yourself?"" Isabella asked him, looking puzzled.

""Of course, I do a lot of things myself,"" Adrian said.

""Not serious,"" Isabella scolded him, then opened the car door. ""Come on, let's go grab a meal and chat.""

""I'm still filming,"" Adrian refused.

""Does filming make more than your dad's inheritance?"" Isabella asked.

Adrian smiled faintly and got into her car but soon rolled down the window.

A week later, after the sunset, outside the Harrington Group office building, a black car stopped as usual. Victoria spotted the driver waiting outside as she left, stating to the caller, ""I'll go get the results right away. Okay, see you later.""

The driver, Mark, saw her coming down the steps and opened the back door for her. ""Mrs. Harrington, where to go?""

""The hospital."" Victoria got in.

""If she indeed used this cup, then she's fine,""  a friend introduced to her by Olivia told her.

""Alright, thank you,"" Victoria politely expressed her gratitude.

""Feel free to reach out if you need anything in the future,"" the man said and then turned to leave.

Victoria also got back into the car.

Mark asked, ""Mrs. Harrington, what results are these? Could it be that Mr. Harrington is going to be a dad?""

""No, let's go back to Rockland Street,"" Victoria replied.

""Not going to The Harrington Mansion?"" Mark inquired.

Mark knew it probably wasn't pregnancy, as she seemed very calm.

""Yes, not going."" Victoria knew very well that Eloise insisted she go back to drink the medicine, probably because it had something to do with Alexander.

But now...

She laughed at the bottom of the test results when she opened them.

There this world were really big enough for all kinds of people.

When she got back, it was already drizzling. She hurried into the building, her mind filled with his words about not risking lives.

As she entered the building, her clothes were slightly wet. She patted the water off her head and walked in until she reached her floor.

""Adrian?"" Victoria called out.

""Why are you wet?"" Adrian asked.

""It rained, and I didn't bring an umbrella. Why are you here again?"" Victoria looked at him, puzzled, noticing his serious expression.

""Let's talk inside first,"" Adrian advised.

""Okay."" Victoria didn't think much of it.

Victoria told him to sit while she changed in the flat since she felt uncomfortable in her wet clothes.

Adrian sat nervously on the sofa, holding a hospital bag.

He had hesitated before, but he knew what was right.

He didn't expect the flat door to open from outside while waiting for Victoria.

Adrian sat on the sofa, slightly puzzled.

When Alexander, also wet from the rain, saw him, his calm gaze turned sour. ""What are you doing here?""

""I came to give something to Victoria,"" Adrian replied instinctly.

Taking him as an elder cousin, Adrian felt both respect and fear for Alexander.

""By the way, Adrian, you shouldn't…"" Victoria, now in a casual long dress, walked out to dry her hair and then saw the tall, imposing Alexander.

Alexander was wearing a black shirt today, looking even colder.

He had been on a business trip for three days.

She had arranged for his arrival at the office building by noon tomorrow, so she knew his schedule well.

But now he was standing here.

""Is your work finished?"" Victoria regained her composure and rationally confirmed with him that there was supposed to be a banquet tonight.

""Yes."" Alexander looked at her with disappointment.

Victoria met his gaze for a moment, then turned. ""Why don't you and Adrian sit for a while? I'll make some coffee.""

""No need, I'm leaving,"" Alexander suddenly said coldly and turned to leave.

Victoria couldn't help but watch his back until he closed the door and disappeared from her sight.

""Aren't you going to explain?"" Adrian asked.

""Nothing to explain. Do you want coffee?"" Victoria asked.

""I came to give you something and say a few words, then I'll leave."" He placed the bag on the table.

Victoria walked over, sat down, and opened the bag, pulling out the test results inside.

""A week ago, Isabella suddenly came to my crew, saying she wanted to help me win you over,"" Adrian said.

Victoria glanced at him, then at the blood test results.

""She kept having nosebleeds, so I thought of this,"" he continued, then lowered his head, hands clasped, sighing in distress, ""I hesitated, knowing that telling you would mean Alexander would know, and I'd have no chance.""

He couldn't help but mock his foolishness.

Victoria had seen his disappointed look but could only respond calmly. ""Thank you.""

""She's not sick. Don't let her use illness as an excuse to bother my brother anymore. Victoria, I want you to be happy, even if it's with another man."" He smiled at her, then stood up.

He departed with his head down since he couldn't say goodbye.

Victoria still sat there, feeling strange. What did men gain by giving up their friends for their partners?

She kept telling herself to stay calm and finally found a reason to distance herself from Adrian.

She didn't want Adrian to fall too deep because falling into an inappropriate relationship was really painful.

She placed the two identical results under the table and then went back to her room.

She had changed into casual clothes earlier for the guest. With no one home, she could shower and drink wine.

She needed to think carefully. If Adrian had even thought about checking the results, why didn't Alexander?

Isabella often pestered him, so why didn't he check?

Whether it was pregnancy or leukemia, as long as Isabella said it, he seemed to believe it all.

Such trust was really rare, just like between her and Alexander, she couldn't sleep later, listening to the increasing rain outside. She sat up and picked up her phone.

A notification popped up about the door being opened, making her heart race. Then she heard the bedroom door open.

She immediately looked towards the sound.

She hadn't drawn the curtains, and the outside light shone in a bit, illuminating his tall figure like a descending deity.

Her heart suddenly tightened, staring straight at his figure. ""You…""

""Did I cancel all my activities and rush back, only to see my wife and my younger cousin in the house, disheveled?"" Before she could speak, he questioned in a deep voice.

Victoria's eyes gradually became dull.

Her dress covered her calves.

""You never dared to wear skirts in front of me, but you can wear them freely in front of my cousin?"" Alexander said angrily.

""Alexander, I advise you to think clearly before speaking."" Victoria felt he was being impulsive.

Seeing him slowly approach, she couldn't help but stand up.

Standing on the bed, she was looking down at him.

Alexander shot her a fierce look and continued reasoning word by word, ""A man and a woman alone on a rainy night, and my wife is wet, wearing a thin dress. I really can't understand.""

""Leave,"" Victoria shouted."
