Chapter 17 Arabella's Visit

"Why Are You So Stubborn?" He Asked.
"No, no one in the company is bullying me."
She looked up at him in denial. The person who was really bullying her, in her eyes, was right in front of her. But how could she say it? He hadn't done anything to her. How could she admit that he was bullying her? And how could she say it in that way?
"Why are you unhappy then?" He asked again.
"I miss home; I miss my home in M country."
"You can go back and visit during the holidays," Alexander thought she might actually really miss home. After all, she's been living abroad for so many years. Her parents were both renowned professors in foreign universities, and their family had emigrated for so long that it was not impossible for her to feel unfamiliar with this city.
"No, I don't want to go back just for a vacation." Maybe her willpower wasn't strong enough, which was why she suddenly felt like crying. She just wanted to leave him but the thought of leaving him suddenly made her tears fall.
Seeing this, Alexander's heart clenched, and he immediately raised his hand, "Don't cry."
She didn't want to cry either. But how could he treat her like this?
"Let me go," she sobbed, begging him. It must be because his hand was too warm that she dared to beg him like this. If this continued, she was sure she would surely go mad. She would not be able to help but complain, get angry, and question. She would become unreasonable, like a shrew!
Her upbringing did not allow her to become like that, and she did not want to be like that. She just wanted to leave; she didn't want to covet the little warmth in his palm. But...
He held her face with his other hand, helping her wipe away her tears, and told her so confidently, "No."
She still wanted to ask why, but she remembered that he said it was the responsibility of the Harrington family, the future of the Harrington family. She didn't want to hear such an answer again.
"Go wash your face, then change clothes and go to work." He calmly reminded her of what she should do next.
"I'm not going."
She stepped back, wiping the tears that had fallen onto her chin, her eyes still so determined. Yes, even if he didn't let her leave, she wasn't going to work. No one could force her.
Annoyed, Alexander lowered his head and looked at her again, "Are you sure you want to keep contradicting me?"
"I'm not contradicting you; I'm just doing what I want to do."
"Do you want to make me unhappy? You want to let the elders know that I've wronged you?"
She didn't expect him to understand it this way, but she didn't care.
"Alexander, you can't talk about me like that."
What she endured was completely different from what he said. But he kept thinking of her as a villain.
"How should I talk about you then? You're already twenty-three; you’re not a child anymore, so why are you still so stubborn?" He questioned her with his deep voice.
Victoria looked at him and asked, "Am I stubborn?"
If she were stubborn, she wouldn't have let him leave her for two full years on the day they got married two years ago. If she were stubborn, she wouldn't let another woman have his child.
"You're definitely stubborn, otherwise you wouldn't..."
"We're divorced."
Her vision was already blurred, her voice hoarse and weak.
She rarely interrupted others, but today, at this moment, she interrupted him.
She looked at him, not knowing whether it was disappointment or what, but she muttered again, "We're divorced."
