Chapter 911 His Critical Condition Notice
That morning's headline news featured a photograph of Alexander, the president of the Harrington Group, being embraced by a married woman, Daisy, as he got into her car.
However, the car suddenly had an accident halfway.
When Victoria received the call, her phone immediately fell to the ground, and she felt dizzy.
The call said that Alexander had already received two critical condition notices.
Many people on the plane were discussing this news. Victoria sat silently in the first-class cabin, her vision always blurry.
She thought they were just like that.
But she didn't expect him to have an accident.
Victoria, along with Eve and Frank, returned to the country with Strawberry. As soon as they arrived, they received a call from Arabella, saying that Eloise had fainted upon hearing that Alexander had received a critical condition notice.
Brett's blood pressure skyrocketed, and he was barely holding on.
Suddenly, the entire Harrington family seemed to be shrouded in gloom.
Victoria held Strawberry, who was wearing a princess dress. Looking at her big, watery eyes that were exactly like Alexander's, some unreal thoughts suddenly flashed through her mind.
Were they that close as kids?
She seemed to see a boy chasing after her family's car, calling out to her.
Victoria stared blankly into Strawberry's eyes, lost in thought for a long time.
Back in the city, she went to the hospital first thing, but at the ICU entrance, she saw the Bryant family.
Jerome and Ursa were taken aback when they saw Victoria, but they quickly lowered their heads without saying a word.
"Victoria."
Arabella saw Victoria and immediately approached.
"Mom."
Victoria immediately went up to her.
Arabella looked much more haggard, and Maximus was sitting nearby. He slowly stood up when he saw her.
Victoria walked over and softly called, "Dad."
"It's good that you're back."
Maximus tried to smile, but his eyes remained cold.
Victoria just nodded. She knew that with Alexander in the ICU, and Brett and Eloise both mentally affected, Arabella and Maximus must be the most exhausted and stressed.
The doctor came to call both families to the office to discuss matters. Arabella asked Victoria to stay behind. After they left, Victoria sat down in a chair.
Her heart was filled with anxiety. Victoria lowered her head, her nose tingling with a sour sensation.
"The two of them will definitely pull through."
It was Ursa's voice.
Victoria kept her head down and didn't speak. Of course, she hoped Alexander would wake up safely.
Victoria's eyes were always red, and whenever tears were about to fall, she would turn her face to a place where no one was, quietly restrain herself, wipe them away, and then lower her head again.
"Are you two not divorced yet?"
Ursa looked at Victoria and asked.
Victoria finally turned her head to meet Ursa's gaze, but she just gave Ursa a cold glance.
At a time like this, was Ursa thinking about Daisy marrying Alexander?
"I think if Alexander wakes up, you should take the initiative to file for divorce. Now everyone knows they were in the same car when the accident happened, and it was late at night, you know what I mean."
Ursa remarked, feigning an air of mystery.
"I don't understand."
Victoria's tone was very cold.
Why should she understand?
She just wanted Alexander to wake up safely.
This whole family was waiting for him, not to wait for him to get a divorce.
Victoria didn't know why she suddenly got so angry, being so rude to someone much older.
But she didn't care.
She was going crazy; Alexander suddenly had an accident.
He had called her that night.
And then he had an accident so quickly.
She could tell he was drunk at the time, but what was he trying to do?
Why did Alexander say those things to her while getting into Daisy's car?
Victoria originally believed that if she stayed quiet, everything would pass.
She thought it was fine this way, no need for a breakup, no need to be hated.
But she couldn't accept that the people she loved the most would leave her like her parents did.
She had never done anything bad; she had been kind from childhood to adulthood.
Why did God want to take away the people she loved the most at such a young age?
She couldn't comprehend it and refused to accept it.
Alexander had to wake up.
Whether they would divorce or when they would divorce was not for others to decide.
"You are all adults, how can you not understand? Mr. Harrington, as a married man, was in Daisy's car."
"Alright, why was Alexander in a married woman's car? Everyone knows Daisy has been eyeing Alexander for a long time. She took advantage of his drunkenness to get him into her car. What exactly is she trying to do? I need an explanation."
Victoria retorted coldly.
"What? How can you say that? This couldn't have been done by one person; it must have been consensual."
"I only know that Daisy, despite being married, clings to Alexander. I only know that Daisy uses the same perfume I use and has the same hairstyle as me."
Ursa's face suddenly turned red.
After Ursa was left speechless, Victoria lowered her head again.
Alexander had been in there long enough. She just wanted to pray that Alexander could come out safely.
She could live without a husband, but Strawberry couldn't live without a father.
She lost her parents at twenty and was in so much pain. Strawberry hadn't even had her first birthday yet. If something happened to Alexander, Strawberry would grow up in the pain of missing him.
Diana came running back from outside. When she saw Victoria, she felt a bit discomfort but kept her head down and said nothing.
Victoria sensed Diana's dislike, so she stepped aside in silence.
Late at night, Arabella and Maximus left, and Jerome and Ursa also left, leaving just the two of them outside.
There was a restroom next to the ICU, with two small beds in one room. They sat against the wall, looking at the moonlight outside. Diana asked her, "If Alexander dies, will you regret it?"
"Regret what?" Victoria retorted.
"Regret that you didn't see him one last time."
After Diana said this, Victoria couldn't speak for a long time.
Victoria thought, maybe what she regretted wasn't that they didn't see each other one last time.
Victoria looked at the moonlight outside. The moon was missing too much, just like the regrets between them.
She felt her heart growing colder, overwhelmed by a rush of memories, all of a sudden, it was all about the times he was devoted to her.
It seemed that suddenly, she believed those looks, those words from Alexander, were real.
He had loved her.
"Victoria, do you love Alexander or not?"
Diana couldn't understand Victoria, feeling that Victoria was so indifferent, it was hard for people to reach her heart.
Victoria let out a cold laugh.
She thought she had said those words before.
But now she couldn't say them.
If Alexander died, those words would be buried in his grave.
If Alexander lived, those words would be buried in her heart.
Victoria came back to her senses when Diana climbed onto her bed and got in front of her.
"Let me see."
"What?"
The tears on Victoria's face never stopped, but she was quiet.
"The scar."
Diana was determined to see it.
Victoria smiled helplessly, surprised that after all this time, Diana was still so focused on her belly.
She pulled the hem of her shirt out of her pants.
Diana's hand was a bit cold. When she touched Victoria's scar, she flinched slightly.
"Don't move. Is it here? It's not as long as they say online."
"It's not there."
