Chapter 509 Beaten and Blackmailed

Victoria's heart skipped a beat. She glanced at Thaddeus, then turned to Isabella and said, "Alright, go on."

She had a hunch Olivia would show up soon. No matter how much trouble they caused, they wouldn't dare harm her in front of Olivia.

Seeing Victoria so calm, Isabella felt indignant. But since Victoria had to stay, Isabella strutted towards her with a proud stride.

Victoria frowned in annoyance as Isabella approached. She really hated the strong perfume scent on Isabella; it was truly repulsive. But now wasn't the time for a pointless fight.

Seeing Victoria stop, Isabella thought she was scared and mocked her, "You don't really think I'm going to die, do you?"

Victoria asked, puzzled, "Isn't it?"

Of course, everyone died eventually.

Isabella snorted, "You have to believe in miracles. I can cure illnesses and replace you."

"Alright," Victoria responded indifferently, looking at Isabella's arrogant demeanor. She thought, 'Isabella thinks no one knows she's faking her illness. This is interesting. She always acts so smart.'

Victoria held her wrist and involuntarily lowered her head. She was wearing the colorful diamond bracelet Alexander had given her a few days ago, and it immediately calmed her down.

Isabella followed Victoria's gaze. Knowing a bit about jewelry, she could tell the bracelet was expensive. A poor girl like Victoria couldn't possibly afford it. Feeling bitter, Isabella mocked, "Don't think I don't know your schemes. You think you're hiding it well, but you're too young. Your greed is written all over your face. Even if you marry Alexander, you'll never win his heart."

Victoria retorted, "How can you be so sure? Because you're older than me?"

"What?"

"Or because you've been with more men than I have?"

"You!" Isabella immediately raised her hand to slap Victoria.

Victoria was slapped but quickly raised her hand and slapped Isabella back. The slap was just as hard as Isabella's.

Isabella was stunned, looking at Victoria's reddened face. Unable to bear the humiliation, she quickly pushed Victoria in the chest.

Thaddeus, standing at the door, instinctively moved to catch Victoria as she was about to fall. Victoria felt a sharp pain in her chest, then someone grabbed her shoulder.

Isabella quickly shouted, "Thaddeus."

Thaddeus understood Isabella's meaning and let go of Victoria. Victoria was already trembling with fear. Unaccustomed to conflict, she had always been a model student from a distinguished academic family.

She was still clear-headed after Isabella's slap, but now she was completely dazed after being pushed. Images of schoolgirls pulling each other's hair flashed through her mind. She didn't know if she could handle it.

Unexpectedly, Isabella leaned in and whispered mockingly, "You got lucky that time abroad with that man who didn't like women. But will you always be this lucky?"

With Thaddeus behind her, Victoria wasn't sure if he had helped her or was just preventing her from running away, so she didn't dare move.

Seeing Victoria's fear, Isabella continued with a smile, "A woman like you, who only uses morality to bind others, doesn't deserve to wear such an expensive wedding dress. Even if you put it on, it wouldn't fit."

"Victoria." A familiar female voice suddenly called out. Both Victoria and Isabella looked towards the door.

"What are you doing?"

"What happened to your face?"

A man's cold, questioning voice startled Isabella. Suddenly, Olivia ran to Victoria and touched her face.

Victoria whispered to Olivia, "We're fighting, but I'm not hurt."

She knew Olivia would come to her rescue.

But...

Victoria couldn't help but glance at Alexander. She heard a thud, then saw him straighten his suit and turn to her. "Come with me."

"Okay," Victoria replied.

Alexander extended his hand, and when Victoria gave him hers, he shot a cold glance at Isabella and firmly held Victoria's hand, ready to leave.

Tears instantly welled up in Isabella's eyes as she said, "Alexander, Victoria started it."

Victoria immediately turned to look at her.

"If Victoria did start it, it's because you provoked her first," Alexander said calmly, holding Victoria's hand as they walked away.

Olivia looked at Thaddeus on the ground with blood at the corner of his mouth, then glanced at Isabella, saying, "How the mighty have fallen! The once-noble Montgomery heiress has become a disgrace.."

Isabella was always speechless when Olivia scolded her.

"You're not just disgracing the Montgomery Group, but also you're disgracing the entire elite class." After reprimanding Isabella, Olivia walked away but stopped at the door, looking down at Thaddeus who was dizzy on the ground, "You fools are the ones abetting evil, aren't you?"

Thaddeus wanted to laugh but couldn't. He had done his best. He didn't care about Olivia's scolding. The Montgomery family members were even better at it than she was. He sensed Isabella's descent into darkness. Moreover,. he knew that she would destroy him if this continued.

After Olivia left, Isabella looked down at Thaddeus. Seeing him beaten again, she felt a sharp pain in her heart. Alexander had hit Thaddeus, but it was really a blow to Isabella. He wouldn't hit a woman, so he took it out on her bodyguard.

When Olivia reached the restaurant and saw Edward waiting for her, she walked over and asked, "Did they leave?"

"Alexander said they were heading back first. Let's go too," Edward replied.

"Okay. Why is Isabella so despicable? Are you still hanging out with her?" Olivia asked.

"When people are satisfied, you can't see their true nature. It's only when they lose something that you get a chance to see them clearly," Edward explained.

Olivia didn't expect Edward to be so philosophical and almost praised him.

Half an hour later, at the top floor of the Regal Retreat.

In the brightly lit living room, Victoria sat on the sofa, holding a mirror to look at her swollen face. She felt both sorry for herself and puzzled. She must have swollen Isabella's face too, right? Hopefully.

Alexander came over with some ointment. Sitting beside her, he saw her pouting and asked, "What are you looking at?"

Victoria turned the mirror and said, "A handsome guy."

Alexander glanced at the mirror, then looked at her, holding back a smile. "Turn your face a bit."

"Okay," Victoria agreed, but Alexander took the mirror away and said, "I'm right in front of you. Don't you know where to look?"

It wasn't that Victoria didn't know. It was just that Alexander had seemed unhappy the whole way back, and she felt she couldn't cheer him up, so she didn't dare look at him directly.

"It might hurt a bit. Bear with it," Alexander patiently reminded her.

"Got it," Victoria replied.

In fact, this pain was nothing for her. She had been hurt worse before. However, as soon as Alexander's hand touched her face, she flinched away. Then she received a warning look.

"Can I ask you something?" Victoria asked softly.

"Go ahead," Alexander said.

"Is your anger sparked by my injury or my slapped against Isabella?"
