Chapter 457 She Doesn't Dare
Alexander put her on the bed and didn't touch her again. Sitting alongside her, he silently watched.
Victoria looked so adorable when she was asleep.
She sometimes tossed and turned, leaving the quilt awry, while sometimes she didn't stir for an hour.
In the morning, sunlight filtered into the room through the gap in the curtains.
Victoria, on the bed, slept with great contentment. She slowly turned over and then opened her eyes.
Her eyelashes fluttered reflexively as she stared at the familiar lamps on the ceiling before turning away.
'Wasn't she sleeping on the couch?' She thought.
She was alone on the bed. She sat up, running her hand through her hair as she tried to recall.
A tiny beam from the curtain gap showed her the quilt on the couch.
Did he carry her to the bed while she was sleeping and then sleep on the couch himself?
Both sides of the bed were neatly made, not looking like anyone else had lain there.
Victoria slowly lay back down. The bed was so soft and comfortable.
She heard footsteps without knowing how long had passed. Before closing her eyes, her long lashes fluttered.
The footsteps came to the bedside for a moment and then moved away.
He went over to the couch.
He really did sleep on the couch last night.
She didn't expect him actually to keep his promise.
Maybe she shouldn't think so poorly of him. He was a gentleman, right?
At least, sometimes he was.
She moved a bit and then heard a deep, familiar, pleasant voice.
"Are you awake?" Alexander asked.
"Yes," Victoria responded and immediately asked, "Are you feeling better?"
"Yes," Alexander also answered, quickly adding, "I just put you on the bed and covered you with a quilt."
"I know," she said.
Victoria lay on the bed, realizing her heart was beating a bit fast as she spoke.
Alexander fell silent, making no further sound, and thought, 'What did she know?'
He covered his eyes to avoid smiling, but his mouth corners still wanted to lift. They did eventually.
Only he would know. Victoria was quite beautiful.
The housekeeper made breakfast. Victoria and Alexander ate in silence, occasionally glancing at each other.
Victoria almost couldn't resist apologizing to him for thinking so poorly of him in the past.
But she quickly regretted it.
Alexander put down his spoon and sat very upright.
He spoke seriously, "Well, I did sleep with you on the bed last night."
Victoria was stunned.
"Lying too much is bad for the progress of our relationship, right?" Alexander asked her.
Victoria was stunned.
What happened?
"The bed is big enough. I didn't touch you."
Being afraid she might get suspicious, Alexander immediately explained.
Victoria thought for a moment, looking at the oatmeal in her bowl. "So, didn't you really touch me?"
"Once, you rolled into my arms, but then you turned away after a moment. Later, I might have fallen asleep due to the medication, and when I woke up, we were facing each other," Alexander patiently explained, carefully observing her.
Victoria stirred her breakfast bowl slowly. He didn't understand her thoughts.
She was imagining the scene of them facing each other first thing in the morning.
It seemed both intimate and warm.
She couldn't help but look at him, but in the end, she didn't dare to lift her head.
In this relationship, she was at a standstill, too afraid to move forward.
"Victoria," Alexander called out.
"What?" She was stunned.
"Can you hold your anger?" Alexander asked.
