Chapter 667 I Want to Give My Life to You
That night, the wind was going nuts and the rain was coming down like crazy.
Eloise was in bed, but she couldn't chill out.
Upstairs in the master bedroom, Victoria, wrapped in a robe, stood by the window, just staring at the storm.
Eloise's words were like a punch to the head, keeping her wide awake.
When she felt arms around her, she looked up, and Alexander's kiss landed perfectly. "Why are you still up?"
"I'm kinda cold," she whispered.
"Kinda cold? That's on me then." Alexander scooped her up effortlessly and headed to the bed with his long strides.
Victoria looked into his deep eyes, thinking he must get it, but he just didn't push it.
She was kinda touched that he didn't push it and almost liked how they were getting along.
She leaned on his shoulder and softly called his name, "Alexander."
"I'm here." Alexander stood by the bed holding her, looking down at her with his gentle, long lashes.
"I really am happy." Victoria hugged his shoulder and looked up at him with an even more tender smile.
"I know," Alexander responded.
Victoria wondered if it was her problem. Was she just not used to how understanding he was?
She thought it would be better to get used to it sooner; this was the life she wanted after all.
She dozed off for a while, then felt nauseous, went to the bathroom to throw up, and couldn't fall back asleep after returning to bed.
The next day, Eloise really was going up the mountain. Before leaving, she held Victoria by the car and reminded her, "You need to eat well, sleep well, and if Alexander gives you a hard time, you have to let us know. We'll all help you handle him, alright?"
"Grandma, don't worry. I will remember your advice and follow it," Victoria responded gently.
Hearing her say this, Eloise felt a bit more at ease, but couldn't help but take another deep look at her before patting her hands and getting into the car.
"Mom, how about I go with you?" Arabella asked.
"You stay home and take care of Victoria." Eloise felt more at ease with a female elder taking care of the pregnant Victoria.
For some reason, Arabella felt Eloise's words made her a bit worried too.
"Come back soon," Brett said from behind.
Actually, Eloise liked to go up the mountain and stay for a few days every year, and he was used to it, but today everyone seemed a bit strange, so he couldn't help but say something more.
Eloise got into the car, turned her head to look outside, and reminded Alexander behind Victoria, "Don't bully Victoria, got it?"
"Got it."
Adrian, who was driving for Eloise, saw that everyone had said their goodbyes and helped close the car window. Without looking outside much, he started the car and left.
After the storm, it was a sunny day.
The sun was so bright that people couldn't open their eyes. Before Alexander went to work, Victoria suddenly found a pair of sunglasses. "Put these on."
Alexander smiled as he watched her put the sunglasses on him and said softly, "Does this count as caring?"
"Of course it does," Victoria said bluntly.
Alexander was in a good mood, gently brushing the hair from her forehead. "Care for me more in the future, please."
"Why?"
"I want to give my life to you." Alexander said.
Victoria was stunned by this sentence and couldn't help but look at him directly. After a while, she came back to her senses. "What nonsense are you talking about? What would I do with your life?"
"Catch you later," Alexander said with a grin, then bounced out of the Harrington Mansion.
Victoria stood at the door, watching him leave. She was about to lean against the door frame when Arabella called from inside, "Victoria, come grab some fruit."
"Okay," Victoria replied, but she couldn't help but glance outside again.
Alexander turned around. "Get inside."
He hoped Victoria's eyes would always be sharp enough to spot him first, no matter where or when, and then come to his side.
Victoria went back to the living room, sat down, and had just started munching on some fruit when Arabella began talking. "Remember Mr. Bryant and his daughter who came over the other day?"
"Yeah," Victoria nodded.
That girl's eyes were like an open book, super easy to remember.
"I've already had Penelope find a reason to fire her," Arabella said seriously.
Victoria tensed up a bit, unsure of what to say.
"A girl like that isn't good for our company. She hasn't been taking her work seriously, don't you think?"
"Yeah, and the Harrington Group's PR department should be super private. Mom, you did the right thing," Victoria thought for a moment and agreed.
Arabella was clearly pleased to hear this. She also felt uneasy about Daisy from the Bryant Group working at the Harrington Group.
Arabella's phone rang, and she told Victoria to eat more fruit before answering the call.
Arabella walked away, chatting on the phone, and soon everyone got busy. Victoria ate some more fruit and then headed back to her room.
Victoria couldn't sleep at night, so she would get sleepy during the day, especially after eating and drinking.
Eloise called Victoria after getting settled on the mountain. Victoria lay in bed and fell asleep within two minutes of looking at her phone.
Today, Isabella's scandal was still making the rounds. Even though her face was pixelated, it was clear the issue hadn't been squashed.
Isabella wasn't going out much anymore.
It wasn't until Christmas Eve that Isabella drove her car out of her city apartment.
Tonight was the Montgomery Group's high-level banquet, and she had to show up all dolled up. Besides...
Her phone rang, and she glanced at it, feeling annoyed as she answered, "Mom, what now?"
"Isabella, have you really thought this through?" Naomi asked.
"I've told you a million times, haven't I? If you can't help, then stop lecturing me. I'm not a kid anymore."
"But if something goes wrong, your life will be over. You're still young, you..."
"I'm driving, hanging up." Isabella cut her off before Naomi could finish nagging.
She was already seen as a slut by many women in the city. Could her life get any worse?
She felt like she was frozen in ice, and whether she could come back to life depended on this last gamble.
After hanging up, Naomi sat slowly on the bed, holding her phone. The man coming out of the bathroom saw her uneasy look and said, "You should cut ties with her. We have our own child now and enough money to start fresh."
Naomi wanted a new life too, but what about Isabella, whom she had raised with so much effort? And what was Isabella thinking now?
At a traffic light, Isabella's car slowly stopped. She gripped the steering wheel tightly, glaring at the red light above, and couldn't help but mutter, "Victoria, tomorrow will be your death day."
