Chapter 985 Holding Her Tightly in His Arms

Alexander held Victoria tightly in his arms.

Whether she recognized him or not, they would never be separated again.

Victoria only felt a sharp pain in her neck, let out a groan, and then endured it for a long time.

The pain was unlike any she had ever received from others.

They weren't like this; they had other methods.

Could it be that she had been sold?

Her heart trembled, and her breathing became shaky.

She got up but didn't dare to move.

Her memory was cut off, silently and without warning.

Just like the light before her eyes, which was now completely gone.

They made a trip back to the Harrington Mansion.

On the way, Alexander said a lot, but Victoria didn't say a word.

Alexander wasn't even sure if Victoria could hear him.

He glanced at her and saw her sitting blankly in the passenger seat, which made him even more anxious.

At the Harrington Mansion, a group of people were tearfully overjoyed to see Victoria, but she had no idea where she was as Alexander led her there.

She felt a pair of warm, slightly bony hands holding hers.

It was Eloise's hand.

Eloise asked Victoria, "Sweetheart, where have you been all this time?"

"Grandma, she can't hear you."

Diana stood behind and patiently reminded her.

Hearing this, Eloise couldn't help but cry even more.

"She can't see or hear. What did those bastards do to her?"

Eloise cupped half of Victoria's thin face, feeling even more heartbroken.

"At least we found you and brought you back. That's all that matters."

Arabella sat nearby, scrutinizing Victoria, feeling that the situation was extremely dangerous.

Alexander brought Strawberry over and placed her beside Victoria.

"Mommy." Strawberry looked at Victoria, somewhat longingly.

Victoria's eyelashes fluttered just as Strawberry's hand grabbed hers.

She instinctively held onto the small hand.

Seeing her hold Strawberry's hand, Alexander's expression softened, though his eyes had been sharp moments before.

Victoria's rejection seemed to be directed only at him.

Alexander felt somewhat certain of this.

"Mommy."

Strawberry called again, but Victoria still didn't speak, only quietly holding Strawberry's small hand.

Victoria felt that the small hand was very comforting, soft, and gave her a sense of security.

"Did Victoria get a full check-up at the hospital?" Maximus asked.

"Yes."

"And the results?"

"Other than some issues with her vision and hearing, she has some swelling in various parts of her body," Alexander explained.

"What do you mean by swelling in various parts of her body?" Arabella asked, feeling inexplicably anxious.

"Could it be from being submerged in water?" Diana speculated.

"She was likely beaten." Alexander didn't elaborate further.

The methods used by those people were sophisticated; they wouldn't leave scars on women.

The swelling would eventually subside, and as long as they were obedient, their bodies would heal quickly.

But those who were disobedient would continue to be treated this way.

"I'll take Victoria and Strawberry back to Serenade Villa to stay."

Alexander said after dinner.

"Everyone can take care of them here. Why take them back?" Arabella immediately objected.

"I'll bring Victoria back once she gets better," Alexander said, looking at Victoria.

But when he reached out to hold her hand, as expected, she immediately pulled it away.

Victoria ate quietly and obediently, with her head down, even if not much.

She wouldn't struggle when others touched her, only when he did.

The major news that night was about an underground club where a gang fight had broken out.

They had brought explosives, resulting in numerous casualties and the place being destroyed.

Some people were taken away by the police.

When Alexander brought Victoria back to Serenade Villa, he received a call from Edward.

Alexander simply said he knew.

Frank arrived just in time.

Alexander's eyes flickered, and after getting out of the car, he deliberately said something to Frank.

Frank looked at him in surprise, then went to help Victoria out of the car.

Victoria felt a strong hand grip her arm, making her instantly tense, but she didn't dare to scream.

Seeing her reaction, Alexander didn't feel as bad.

He sent Frank away and then went to grab her hand, holding Strawberry, and brought them inside.

After putting Strawberry to bed, he returned to the room and saw Victoria sitting obediently on the edge of the bed, not moving.

He walked over slowly.

Victoria's hands were tightly clenched, hiding something in her sleeve.

She didn't move when Alexander approached until he sat down beside her and reached out to hold her.

Victoria immediately pulled out a knife she had hidden and tried to stab him in the chest.

But she couldn't see, and her reaction was slow, so Alexander easily caught her wrist and took the knife from her.

He looked at the knife in her hand; it was just a fruit knife from their home.

When had she taken it?

While he was putting Strawberry to bed?

He held her wrist and took the knife away, speaking softly, "I can't die right now."

Victoria felt his breath on her face, making her body tremble.

She shrank back in fear, and when he got closer, she pushed him away with both hands.

Alexander pressed his forehead against hers, his voice hoarse, "Tori, don't push me away, please."

Tori?

Was that a woman's name?

She was terrified.

This was not what she had imagined.

But she was sure she had been sold.

Who was this man?

Victoria didn't know.

She only knew that if he dared to touch her, she would resist to the death.

She had to escape when he wasn't paying attention.

He seemed to say something else, but she didn't hear it clearly.

Suddenly, she was lifted, and she immediately started to struggle.

Alexander held her tightly, "Don't move. I'm taking you to bathe."

Victoria struggled even more.

Alexander restrained his voice and asked, "So you can hear, can't you?"

Victoria thought he was a pervert, wanting to bathe her.

Was he going to hold her down in the water and make her drink dirty water like those people?

Was he finally going to show his true colors?

Like those people who slapped her.

Victoria was in a panic, kicking and hitting him, mainly on his shoulders and neck, wherever she could reach.

She had no other choice.

The knife she had found earlier was long gone, taken by him.

She didn't know how else to save herself, so she kept hitting him.

"Tori, I'm Alexander, your husband."

Then Victoria was taken to an unknown place. She sat there, listening to his voice.

Husband?

Victoria doubted it and pushed Alexander's shoulder harder.

Alexander held the back of her head, pressing his forehead against hers, whispering, "We're home."

Victoria felt she had encountered a pervert.

Feeling his hot breath close to her, she struggled again, but her wrists were bound.

Alexander lowered his head to kiss Victoria, and seeing her not move, he let his guard down.

Victoria instantly freed one hand and clawed at him with all her might.
