Chapter 283 I'm Missing You, What Should I Do?

Eloise cast a worried glance towards the upper floor, her voice laced with apprehension as she asked, "If we keep this from Vicky, do you think she'll be upset?"

Nicolas, with a thoughtful expression, responded, "Vicky wants a positive outcome as much as we do. But she's always been cautious, and after her parents' accident, she's become even more guarded, rarely revealing her true feelings. We can manage the birthday party, but whether she'll be upset or not, that's something Alex should handle." Nicolas was convinced that Victoria still harbored feelings for Alexander, but was too stubborn to admit it.

Victoria's suggestion of divorce, he believed, was a result of deep-seated hurt. This was evident when she immediately stepped in to intervene when Nicolas struck Alexander. That was love, in its rawest form!

Meanwhile, Victoria was ensconced in her room, engrossed in a novel on her phone when Alexander's call came through. She hesitated, taken aback, before finally answering on the second ring.

"Hello?" Victoria's voice was cautious as she held the phone to her ear.

"If you don't answer, I'll start to think I'm harassing you," Alexander's chuckle resonated through the line.

"Is there something you need?" Victoria asked, her tone guarded.

"I just landed. I wanted you to know that I'm fine," Alexander's words were warm, unfamiliar to Victoria's ears.

"To my wife," Alexander added, causing Victoria's breath to hitch. It took her a moment to respond with a simple, "Okay."

"I left some medicine for you. Remember to apply it after your shower. Once I finish my work, I'll accompany you for the scar treatment," Alexander advised, his voice gentle.

"Okay," Victoria agreed, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Vicky?" Alexander's voice was filled with longing. "I kinda miss you. What should I do?"

Victoria's tears fell silently. She raised a hand to wipe them away, unable to respond. His words echoed in her mind, a painful reminder of a love that once was.

He didn't need to call her after landing, or offer to accompany her for scar treatment, or express his longing for her. She didn't want to be disturbed anymore. They could never be together again.

"Are you still not ready to talk to me?" Alexander asked, his voice filled with understanding. "Okay, then, I'm not in a hurry. Someone's here. I have to go." With that, Alexander hung up, leaving Victoria alone with her tears.

She wanted to talk to him. But she didn't know where to start. From the beginning, everything had been wrong.

All Victoria wanted was to wait for him to return so they could finalize their divorce.

If he hadn't taken her passport, she would have already been on a plane back to Danisland.

Later, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Mrs. Harrington. Mrs. Eloise has prepared supper and requests your presence downstairs," the nanny informed her.

"Okay," Victoria agreed, setting down her phone and stepping out of the room. After all, she was staying in Alexander's room.

Meanwhile, in a private room of a club, Isabella had arranged to meet Benjamin Beaumont. "You're the most persuasive among us. Go talk to Alex. He'll definitely listen," she urged.

"And what do you want me to say? That he and Victoria aren't suitable, and he should be with you?" Benjamin asked, his tone incredulous.

"If you want to say that, you can," Isabella murmured, her gaze lowered awkwardly.

Benjamin shook his head in disbelief, questioning, "Do you know why Alex got drunk the night you slept with Sebastian Montague?"

"Are you implying he got drunk because of Victoria?" Isabella asked, her tone defensive.

"Indeed, it's Victoria. He got drunk because she hadn't contacted him for a long time, leading him to believe she had moved on," Benjamin explained.

"I don't believe it, that's impossible! He and Victoria are not close at all. Their marriage was merely a formality. Alex couldn't possibly have feelings for her," Isabella retorted, her voice firm.

"Victoria's hometown is Ankenra, and their families are close. Are you certain they're not familiar with each other?" Benjamin challenged.

"No, they're not. Victoria left when she was young. And Alex himself said he didn't love her," Isabella maintained, her voice filled with doubt.

"Sometimes, men pretend not to care about someone to save face," Benjamin replied, his tone matter-of-fact.

"Benjamin, please don't say that. I admit that I like Alex. I can't let him go. I want to be his wife," Isabella confessed, her voice filled with determination.
