Chapter 538 His Perfectly Chiseled Features
Victoria wore a stunning lace nightgown as she opened the door and walked inside.
Alexander followed, gently closing the door behind him.
Victoria sat on the sofa by the bed, arms and legs crossed, staring at the invitation in his hand. "Mr. Harrington, are you getting married?"
Alexander's voice was deep. "What if I am?"
Victoria smiled. "I wish you well, but I won't be attending."
"Why not?"
"No money," came her curt response.
Alexander just stared at her coldly.
Victoria felt a chill from his gaze, so she touched her neck, unsure of what to say as she gulped nervously.
Alexander said calmly, "I can give you the money."
Victoria smiled but refused firmly. "I don't want it."
She completely disregarded Alexander's dignity.
It was different from before. Back then, she was forced to refuse. Now, she wasn't afraid to reveal her true feelings.
Alexander stared at her for a long time, then sat down on the sofa next to her, suppressing his anger, and placed the invitation on the table. "This is an invitation from Ms. Baker."
Victoria scrutinized him for a moment before taking the invitation and opening it.
It was indeed from Olivia.
She didn't expect that in just over half a year, they had confirmed their relationship and were getting married.
Alexander suddenly said, "Olivia is pregnant."
Victoria's heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively turned to look at him.
Alexander sneered and then fell silent.
Victoria's hotel room was small. It was just an ordinary room without a living room, with the bedroom and bathroom separated by a glass door.
Alexander silently looked around and asked, "Why are you staying in a place like this?"
Victoria also looked around and then said, "It's my first time being the lead, no budget."
Alexander turned to look at her. "I can give you the money."
"Do you have a screw loose or something? What's the point of you giving me money? Even if you force it on me, I still won't take it," Victoria said irritably, then got up, stood by the window, and looked at him with frustration. "Mr. Harrington, you should leave now."
Alexander sneered, got up, and left.
Victoria's breathing gradually became heavy after she heard the door slam shut.
Victoria had originally planned to get married and have children. Unfortunately, she didn't have that luck.
Victoria's eyes stung, and before the tears could fall, she held them back.
Many things in this world were most feared when forced.
Victoria had thought she would be happy, but unexpectedly...
That wedding dress lay on the stairs. The incredibly expensive item was casually thrown on the ground like that.
Victoria thought, 'Perhaps in the face of desire, everything else is meaningless. What's a wedding dress, anyway? A plot in a cemetery costs over a billion dollars.'
She tried very hard to calm down, but even after a long time, Victoria couldn't regain her composure.
She couldn't help but think, 'Why did Alexander come here to give me Olivia's invitation?'
Victoria opened the invitation again and saw that the date was very close.
Olivia had called last time, saying Victoria must come, no matter in what capacity, to prove their sisterly bond.
Olivia said she would only get married once in her life, and Victoria was her partner and best friend. If Victoria didn't come, she would be angry with her forever.
Victoria planned to go, just to bless the newlyweds. Then she would quietly slip away.
After all, she didn't think it was suitable to appear in front of her relatives and friends, as everyone knew her.
She didn't think it made sense to tell each and every one present there that her name was Felicity.
On the wedding day, it was sunny.
September was a great time for a wedding—cool mornings and evenings, and the weather was just right, not too dry.
Victoria bought flowers and a gift, and even though she wore a beautiful dress, she tied her hair up, wore a sunhat and mask, and quietly made her way to Olivia's dressing room.
Edward was there too.
He was holding Olivia's hand. Olivia sat there, letting others do her makeup while she sipped the coffee Edward had brought her. She had just taken a sip when she saw Victoria and immediately held her breath.
Victoria smiled. Olivia couldn't see her face but could tell from her eyes.
When Victoria smiled, her eyes curved, looking pure and serene.
Edward was stunned. After a long pause, he called out, "Victoria?"
"I'm Felicity," Victoria smiled and only took off her mask when she got closer.
Edward thought, 'What Felicity? This is the Victoria who drove Alexander crazy.'
At that moment, Edward's phone rang. He glanced at it and said, "You two chat. I have some things to take care of."
"Okay," Olivia agreed, staring straight at Victoria as she slowly walked up to her.
Olivia reached out, and Victoria immediately placed her hand in Olivia's, then squatted in front of her. "I heard you're going to be a mom. You hid it well."
"Only because you were hiding!" Olivia's eyes welled up with tears, her words muffled.
"Well, I'm here now! And I brought a wedding gift," Victoria said softly, lowering her head to open her bag.
Olivia stopped her, just holding her wrist.
Victoria looked at her, puzzled.
Olivia took off her sunhat. "Why hide such a beautiful face?"
Victoria whispered, "They might still remember me."
The makeup artist glanced at Victoria and smiled. "Aren't you the Felicity from the skincare ad?"
Victoria and Olivia were both puzzled.
As it turned out, the Harrington family's fame couldn't match a skincare ad.
The makeup artist continued, "The skincare product you endorsed is really good. My friends and I are all using it. We don't expect to look like you, but it's better than before."
Victoria smiled politely. "Thank you."
Olivia teased, "Looks like we'll have to call you the ad star from now on."
Victoria smiled. "In the future, only we can reveal my gossip."
"Of course." Olivia looked at her, suddenly emotional. "It's so good you came. I was afraid I was overestimating our relationship, thinking you would just send a gift to keep up appearances."
Victoria said gently, "You're my only friend, and you made me rich. I wouldn't just keep up appearances."
"If you mean it, say more on stage later," Olivia said earnestly.
"On stage? No, I plan to leave quietly."
"Why?"
Victoria didn't answer, but she felt Olivia would understand her smile.
Olivia hesitated, "Alexander and Tessa..."
Victoria interrupted, "Congratulations on your wedding. Hope you have a cute baby soon. I really have to go. I have an important scene to shoot today."
Olivia held her hand. "I don't know what happened that night. But Victoria, after that night, the Montgomery Group's stock kept falling, and Isabella mysteriously disappeared. Do you think there might be some misunderstanding?"
Victoria felt uncomfortable hearing her words but quickly pulled herself together. "It's all in the past. Don't you think I look much better now?"
After saying a few more words to Olivia, Victoria put on her mask again and left. But after only a few steps, she felt something was wrong. Just as she was about to turn back, a door next to her suddenly opened. She turned her head but was pulled inside before she could see anything clearly.
A familiar warmth wrapped around Victoria, and she slowly looked up to see Alexander's perfectly chiseled features.
