Chapter 83 She Was the Legitimate Wife that Alexander Married First

Victoria continued to try and withdraw her hand quietly, but he was too strong.
However, when the waiter came over to serve the dishes, she looked up, and as the waiter bent down, she whispered something in his ear.
The waiter quickly set down the dishes and left, heading over to the table where someone had just taken a photo.
Alexander raised their intertwined hands as he asked, "Do you know what 'the lady doth protest too much' means?"
Victoria was taken aback and quickly suppressed her reaction. But in doing so, it seemed like she was leaning closer to him, giving off an intimate vibe.
Even Adrian now looked a bit sour, "I have something to attend to; I better head out." He muttered.
After Adrian left, Edward glanced at Alexander and Victoria.
He thought Alexander would let go of her hand, but to his surprise, he didn't. Alexander even helped Victoria with her food.
"Would you like a drink?" Alexander asked Victoria.
Victoria just stared back at him without answering.
Alexander then turned to Edward, "How about you?"
"Sure," Edward then ordered three glasses of red wine for them.
However, he couldn't shake the feeling that this whole situation was superfluous.
Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't too crowded, and aside from the waiter who overheard, there weren't many others who heard that exchange.
Thankfully, there were no shouting matches between the cousins, just subtle competition.
Edward couldn’t help but think of Isabella. If she knew about this lunch today, she would probably be furious. Isabella was quite the jealous type.
But... Edward looked at Victoria and realized that this girl wasn't at fault. In fact, she was the legitimate wife that Alexander had married first. Isabella was the third party.
Back then, their marriage was devoid of emotions, and Alexander was often away.
Edward couldn't determine which woman was more pitiful. He just felt that Alexander...
Well, Alexander was currently holding Victoria's hand. He had never held Isabella's hand in front of their friends; he hadn’t even put his arm around her.
Alexander had always been composed and reserved. Edward even began to doubt what was going on between him and Isabella.
Isabella was affectionate and clingy, yet Alexander hardly paid her any attention. On the other hand, whenever this woman was mentioned, Alexander's expression always turned serious. Sometimes, Edward even noticed that Alexander would lose himself in thought when it came to Victoria.
Lost in thought because he was missing her.
During the meal, Victoria quickly withdrew her hand when she realized that Alexander and Edward were now chatting about something else.
She stood up, "I'll go to the restroom."
"Okay," Alexander replied, his gaze elsewhere.
Victoria left immediately.
Edward watched her leave and couldn't help but ask Alexander, "She seems like she's about to leave."
"Hmm," Alexander chuckled, not paying him much attention.
Of course, she was going to leave; her palms were sweating the whole time, probably from being scared.
Thinking this, he couldn't help but glance at her.
Sure enough, she turned around abruptly and walked out.
Ah, she had left her bag on the chair.
After glancing at her bag, Alexander could only smile wryly.
Edward, bewildered, couldn't resist asking, "Alexander, are you really falling for Victoria?"
Alexander looked puzzled, "Is that not allowed?"
"Have you forgotten that Isabella is pregnant?" Edward reminded him.
Alexander's expression turned cold at that reminder.
Yes, that woman was pregnant.
But did he have to take responsibility?
Suddenly, Alexander lost his appetite, stretched his long legs, picked up Victoria's bag next to him, and said, "I'm not hungry anymore."
