Chapter 975 The Meeting
"I know it's you!"
Isabella murmured, but soon curled up in fear.
She tried her best, but this was a prison.
She pondered why five years felt so interminable. Why did it seem as though five centuries had passed, yet she remained trapped within? And Victoria should have died long ago. She had reflected on it later; if she had known she would endure five years of torment, she would have killed Victoria back then.
Letting Victoria escape was the greatest insult and harm to her.
If Victoria had died, Alexander might not have let her go to prison. She might already be Alexander's wife by now, maybe even with a cute baby.
Strawberry.
What a ridiculous name!
Only an idiot like Victoria could come up with that.
Isabella told herself she had to hold on.
Five years would pass in the blink of an eye.
But suddenly, low sobs came from the dark room.
She was on the verge of madness; sometimes she couldn't even distinguish between day and night, let alone the date.
She had to ask someone.
But getting an answer came at a price.
One couldn't get something for nothing.
The next morning, at the Harrington Group office building.
The tall and handsome Alexander caused a stir as he walked into the building holding Strawberry.
He had started bringing Strawberry to work again.
Strawberry had a special lollipop in her mouth, sucking on it seriously in Alexander's arms, her big eyes looking at the people watching her.
So many people.
She hugged Alexander's neck and occasionally smiled at people she liked.
Alexander took her into the elevator, as cold and stern as ever.
Only when he looked at Strawberry did his eyes soften, becoming extraordinarily gentle.
Winter had long set in.
He still remembered where he and Victoria had Strawberry, but he didn't know where Victoria was now.
Alexander had a premonition that Victoria was in Ankenra city.
Not long after he entered the office, Graham pushed the door open. "Mr. Harrington, Jerome wants to see you."
"No, from today on, I won't see anyone related to the Victoria incident," Alexander ordered coldly.
"Yes."
Graham exited after hearing this, inadvertently glancing at Strawberry playing on the couch, and couldn't help but smile.
Alexander looked at a document, just got up to play with Strawberry, when he heard the door again, "Come in."
"Mr. Harrington, I brought some snacks."
Graham said, holding a large tray.
Alexander glanced at it, and he immediately accepted it, "Thank you."
Strawberry was very happy to see Graham bring a bunch of snacks.
Alexander sat beside her, "Strawberry, say thank you to Graham."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. Strawberry is about the same age as my granddaughter."
Alexander looked up at Graham, puzzled.
"I got married early," Graham explained.
"How early?"
"I got married right after college."
That was indeed early.
Alexander felt a bit sad.
Actually, he could have become a grandfather at a young age, too.
If he hadn't left town right after getting married.
What was there to be angry about in his life?
Thinking back now, he had just tortured himself and wasted time.
Graham patted Strawberry's head and left.
Alexander looked at Strawberry's sweet expression and suddenly missed Victoria very much.
Or maybe, he didn't just miss Victoria.
How was Victoria doing now?
Alexander thought about Victoria's back, which had just gotten a little better. If those people dared to let her suffer even a bit more and make her old injuries flare up again, he would never let them off.
.
"Daddy, open it for me."
Strawberry suddenly brought a can of chips to Alexander.
Alexander came back to his senses, almost got hit in the eye, but wasn't the least bit upset. He patiently opened the chips for her, gently reminding, "Don't eat too much."
Strawberry nodded, then picked up a chip, but instead of putting it in her mouth, she offered it to Alexander.
Alexander looked at the chip Strawberry was feeding him, then at her sincere face, his heart softened, and he opened his mouth to eat it.
After seeing him eat, Strawberry licked her fingers that had touched the chip, then took one for herself.
She could only eat a little at a time, and her eating manner was very delicate and elegant.
Alexander couldn't help but smile at her. He wondered if she loved him or just wanted him to test if the chips were edible.
Strawberry was smarter than he had imagined.
After finishing, Strawberry smiled and offered another chip to Alexander. As he opened his mouth, she suddenly put the chip in her mouth, laughing at having tricked him.
Alexander was pleased with Strawberry's cleverness, but suddenly felt a pang of sadness and turned to lean on the back of the couch.
Sunlight streamed in through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, blocking the view of his eyes, which were already filled with tears.
"I'm here."
Near noon, Alexander was holding Strawberry, who had fallen asleep on the couch, when he heard a soft voice from the door.
Diana gently opened the door, peeking inside, and was immediately glad she hadn't spoken loudly.
Strawberry was asleep.
"Why are you here?"
"I came to take Strawberry out to play. What's fun about staying in your office all day?" Diana said.
Alexander just replied, "Too bad she's asleep."
"Strawberry is a sweetheart even when she's asleep."
Diana walked over, sat down, and gently patted Strawberry's little head, happily saying.
Alexander smiled at this, and because Strawberry was outside, he held her as he got up.
He had just been lying down casually, and when Strawberry saw him lie down, she also lay on the couch and soon fell asleep in his warm embrace.
"Alexander, Victoria..."
"Mr. Harrington."
Just as Diana was about to ask about Victoria, the door was knocked open from the outside.
Strawberry turned her head; she had woken up.
Frank walked in, "Everything is settled, but she keeps insisting on seeing you."
"Tell her I'll see her."
Frank looked at Alexander in disbelief. He never questioned Alexander's orders, but there were plenty of ways to torment Isabella. Why should he go to prison to see her, with Victoria was not found?
"Who are you seeing?"
Diana asked, puzzled.
"Isabella."
Alexander coldly said the name.
Diana immediately became unhappy. "Alexander, why are you seeing Isabella? Maybe Victoria's situation is her doing."
"We'll soon know if it was her."
"Then, why are you seeing her..."
Diana suddenly wondered if there was a secret she didn't know.
"Who said I was going to see her?"
